    🎶 "Just because I cannot see it, doesn't mean I can't believe it!" 🎶
    Merry Christmas! ✝️ 🙏 🎄 🎁
Fun Fact: The first fully animated Disney film to not be traditionally animated.
Inspiration Origin Fact: Tim Burton has said the original poem was inspired after seeing the Halloween merchandise display in a store being taken down and replaced by a Christmas display. The juxtaposition of ghouls and goblins with Santa and his reindeer sparked his imagination.
Music Enthusiast Fact: In Oogie Boogie's (Ken Page) Song, there was a story boarded sequence where bugs came out of Oogie's eye and danced on his arm before he belches them off. It was removed from the film because it was considered difficult to make miniature armatures for all the bugs. Another scrapped scene involved his shadow dancing on a rotating orange background and was traditionally animated but ended up being cut for timing. Despite this, the lyrics during these scenes were included in the film's soundtrack.
Math Enthusiast Fact: A crossed-out calculation on Jack's (Chris Sarandon) blackboard seems to equate 3 times the square of pi multiplied by 12 to Christmas Day (a Santa hat). The true numerical answer is approximately 355.31. If the decimal portion is dropped, this then equates to December 21st, the 355th day of the year--hence the crossed-out equation. December 21st however is the first day of winter in the northern hemisphere (winter solstice). It is also the birthday of Jeffrey Katzenberg, the film's executive producer and most often credited for turning Walt Disney Studios and its animation division around after joining in 1984.

I always remember the weather on the day I went to see this, a brisk and cloudy Saturday on its opening weekend. I think a college football game was happening in my town, and I have always found that to be a perfect time to see a movie.
As Tim Burton has said, the movie was inspired by how Christmas decorating and shopping almost immediately follows Halloween. It's a funny set-up, twisting "The Night Before Christmas" into "The Nightmare Before Christmas."
Not so much a big hit when it came out, even with a lot of publicity, the "hype" came almost ten years later, with lots of merchandise and clothes for the Hot Topic crowd. That revival clearly inspired Tim Burton to make "Corpse Bride." Now that I think of it, I don't think I have gotten around to seeing that one.
The creativity with the stop-motion is probably not appreciated as much by new viewers not aware of how that was done, what with even computer animated films being made to look like they are practical puppeted films like this.

Henry Selick was hired on Nightmare Before Christmas as a director to facilitate Tim Burton’s vision.
Burton worked closely with Danny Elfman in developing all the songs before any screenplay was ever written.
Burton had already created and deigned all the characters and look of the world years before.
Nightmare Before Christmas took well over a couple years to shoot due to the nature of the medium and what Burton was envisioning.
Burton had just completed Edward Scissorhands and was under enormous pressure to return to Warner Brothers for the sequel to Batman,
    Batman Returns.
The only reason Henry Selick has a career and ever had the opportunity to direct a film like Coraline is because of the opportunity given to him by Tim Burton.
Tim Burton had the power and juice to get an entire stop motion feature film greenlit when no one else had the power or drive to do so.
And all The Nightmare Before Christmas IP was owned by Disney as he created all of it when he worked for them as an animator.
Burton’s name had enough clout that Disney took a huge chance on a very unorthodox film in every way.
From the story to the medium of stop motion.
When The Nightmare Before Christmas was originally released, it was not released as a Disney film.
But as a Touchstone Pictures film.
    A subsidiary of Disney.
It was only once it became and established and embraced holiday classic was it that Disney began openly claiming the film.

I was in my twenties when this came out and saw it without high expectations because of the Tim Burton link and thought it was magical. Part of that was likely the low expectations, and getting to see it on the big screen. But if you are trying to understand it as a children's movie that is probably the wrong way to go. It is a movie of dark whimsy. If one has that kind of sense of humor then given the great music and the impressive animation it is going to be magic. If that is not your sense of humor then I can see it being boring.

I am with you two ladies. I watched it once and figured I must have missed something. Then I watched it again and I thought, "nope, still not interesting to me." It seems like a worn out trope that was not entertaining on top of the theme of the story being done a thousand times.
I have never figured out why it is loved by so many people. When I ask those that I know that love it I do not get a very clear answer. Just boils down to their taste I think. My theory though is that it is seen as a kind of "bad boy" or "rebel" Christmas and those that "love" it do so because they think it puts them in with the cool crowd of rebellious folks. They are not part of the nerdy traditional Christmas lovers, "Those boring people ... booo them!" Which makes them feel cool and good about themselves. But, that is my theory based on the passing grade I received in Psychology 101. 😁
Personally, I like my traditional Christmas. 👍

If y’all are really looking for a TERRIFIC Animated Movie look at The Incredibles. Or the first slate of PIXAR movies in general from Toy Story to Toy Story 3. If y’all make time for it throughout the year next. Also I won’t say this movie was perfect *The Nightmare Before Christmas* but I’d still as a drawing artist myself and as someone who appreciates certain aspects of animation it’s admirable on that front i named my cat after Celina Kyle which is also short for Sally. 85% from me.

I just want to be clear I never liked this movie and agree with Nat’s
daughter it feels more like a Halloween movie despite Christmas being in title and being central to plot, but appreciate the creativity and work they put into it. Such an uninteresting movie as an adult Natalie 👩🏻‍🦰 is falling asleep 😴 Finally see glasses say Ho Ho Ho 🎅🏻 😊 Hard to say if I would of liked this as a kid either, but as an older boy probably. I do like some kids movies as well, but the story has to pull me in.

    Amusing Reaction!
Still remember when this movie was released in the 90's. To be honest, never really got into this specific film. However, my aunt and younger cousins absolutely loved it! When it comes to Tim Burton movies, it's like a coin toss - some people love them, while others don't. It's kind of like Rob Zombie movies in that sense.
By the way, your last live show was fantastic! 🖒
