"People should not be afraid of their government, government should be afraid of their people." Don't naively think this movie is impossible, ridiculous fiction. Many examples throughout history proves otherwise as well
Like what’s happening now lol
The graphic novel came out in 1982. It is AMAZING how ahead of it's time it is. It really is 1984's cousin.
...A late cousin or nephew since 1984 was published in 1949. ^^
V for Vendetta trivia
The domino scene, where V (Hugo Weaving) tips over black and red dominoes to form a giant letter V, involved 22,000 dominoes. It took four professional domino assemblers 200 hours to set it up.
For the scene when V emerges from Larkhill, stunt double Chad Stahelski literally walked through fire, wearing just a special fire resistant gel and a g-string. Stahelski's body temperature had to be lowered before the scene was shot, and luckily, it was three degrees below zero the night of the shoot. Fifteen minutes before a take, he would put on ice cold flame resistant clothing, and once he took them off, he would be covered with fire resistant gel which had been icing all day long.
The cast and crew were only allowed to shoot near the British Parliament and Big Ben (the clock tower) from midnight to 4:30 a.m., and they could only stop traffic for four minutes at a time.
Certain scenes within this movie feature James Purefoy as V, who was originally cast in the role, but replaced by Hugo Weaving four weeks into filming. Weaving's voice was simply dubbed over Purefoy's performance in post-production. Director James McTeigue said in an interview: "Can I tell the difference? Yeah. Can the audience tell? I doubt it."
Evey (Natalie Portman) mentions to Gordon Dietrich (Stephen Fry) that "eggie in the basket" is the same breakfast V (Hugo Weaving) made for her the first morning she spent at his place. She fails to mention (or doesn't notice) that Dietrich and V also greeted her in exactly the same way, not with "good morning", but with "bonjour mademoiselle". Also, Stan Getz is playing in the background in both instances.
The Secret Police are called "Fingermen", because the New Order was arranged on the model of the human body. The Chancellor (Sir John Hurt) was the Head; the television station BTN was the mouth; visual and audio surveillance were the Eyes and the Ears; Inspector Finch (Stephen Rea) was part of The Nose, the Police force, and Creedy's (Tim Pigott-Smith's) Secret Police were the Hand.
One of the major challenges in this movie was how to bring V to life from under an expressionless mask. Thus, considerable effort was made to bring together lighting, acting, and Hugo Weaving's voice to create the proper mood for the situation. Since the mask muffled Weaving's voice, his entire dialogue was re-recorded in post-production.
In the comic, illustrator David Lloyd often subtly changed V's Guy Fawkes mask to suit the mood or tone of a particular scene. The filmmakers considered designing several subtly different masks, but they ultimately decided to alter the shadows and lighting in post-production.
The scenes in the abandoned London Underground station were filmed at Aldwych, a Piccadilly line station that closed in 1994. The branch still has tracks and electricity, meaning trains can still operate.
The original comic series was created by Alan Moore. However, following his negative experience with From Hell (2001) and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), Moore decided to reject all money and credit from Hollywood on any adaptations of his work. Thus, he gave all the money he would've gotten to the artist who drew the character with him, and rejected his own "created by" credit from the movie.
Background checks were conducted on every actor, actress, and technician who carried a weapon in the Parliament Square scenes. The barcodes on each piece of weaponry were scanned, to track the individuals authorized to handle them.
All of V's dialogue was dubbed. Initially, a mask was designed with a small microphone inside, and another mic was designed to sit along Hugo Weaving's hairline, but neither worked very well.
Natalie Portman looked forward to buzzing her hair, saying she'd wanted to do that for a long time.

this movie has one of my favourite lines in it.
If I'm still standing when you run out of Ammo, you'll all be dead before you can reload
The graphic novel by Alan Moore was set around 1997. While the movie was set around 2020 or 2027 debated. Very good movie and novel with direct implications of modern philosophy.
Loved the show, great that you did too. Rewatched at least 3 times, also the way it has such meaning today as much as when first made.
It was the most lighthearted reaction to this movie I've seen. I'll give you that.
We are Force of “Light” ☺️
Yes, I agree.
I've loved this movie for years, ever since I first saw it in the theater. And, I've watched plenty of RUclipsrs reactions to this movie. To say this was the "most lighthearted" reaction, is a very kind way of stating it. No offense to these ladies, but this was probably the worst reaction I've seen to this movie.
Of course...everyone's reaction to *anything* will vary. That your reaction was different than mine, or different than other reactors that I've watched, doesn't make your reaction "bad". But...I find this film to be extremely moving, charged with emotion, and telling an intriguing story of political power, corruption, greed, and how a single, determined individual might bring about change. Was Vee a rebel, a common criminal, a terrorist...or an avenging angel?
I've never seen anyone skip the segment where Evey reads the note from the prisoner in the next cell over. It's the most moving scene in the film, and you glazed over it as if it wasn't even there, and then refer to it in the comments as "boring".
You didn't seem to so much "react" to this, as joke and guffaw your way through it. I'm truly surprised that you seemed to enjoy it as much as you did. Well, at least you did enjoy it...and *that's* something!
@@timothylockard3846
Totally agree mate . For me it’s a stupid reaction . Too much laughing .. it’s not a comedy .
@@LeDedoubleur thanks for your feedback. We do often take a light hearted approach, but I understand if that is not your thing. Have a blessed day ❤
@@LeDedoubleur 2nd...
I love when Stephen Fry's character does the milk joke. That's clearly true, and a secret the dictator is very sensitive about. It's an "A little birdie told me". Except now we all know.
Wow, seems like you miss out the most romantic part of the movie: Valerie's letter
It’s crazy how this movie was almost parallel to our reality today. Great video ladies as always!
It really is! Thank you!!
The most important lesson from this story is that the people voted for the government they have, based upon a false trade-off of freedom vs security. What goes unsaid in the movie, but is plainly obvious, is that we are primed to think how we think by the culture we inhabit, and that culture is influenced by the thought-leaders that we listen to. It's philosophy all the way down.
I like this movie more with each watch primarily because with each passing year, it feels more like a documentary than a movie. Which is a terrifying realization, but also shows how incredibly well written and made the movie is.
4:28 V: "You see, Evey, I just had to bring down the _house!"_
9:17 I want to point out just how Dr. Surridge is different from V's _other_ victims. She's the only one who expresses _remorse._ She's also the only one who never shows any actual _fear._ At no point does she implore V to give her some antidote that she insists he must have developed.
Somewhere along the line, she connected with the full significance of what she had done at Larkhill, with the full extent of the _terrible_ atrocities it carried out that _she_ made possible, and has come to regret them. And of course, she remembers him. They parted ways under the most _unforgettable_ circumstances, and here, it becomes clear that the only _real_ fear she has had was that she would never have the chance to _apologize_ to this man.
She's his only victim who's actually glad for his arrival.
My favourite line from this film is: "By the power of truth, I who are living have conquered the Universe"
V for Vendetta is an amazing film. As long as there are corrupt governments this film will be relevant. Some other great movies with meaning and heart you two should check out are "Pump Up the Volume" (1990) and "The Green Mile" (1999). Hope you watch them someday.
I believe you two should only react to comedy.... you laugh at everything.
Thanks for your opinion.
"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."

Nice reactions to V for Vendetta, Michelle & Natalie!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I first saw this on a premium channel, then I bought the 4K blu ray. It definitely impacts you differently depending on what year you watched this, like Michelle said. Repeat viewing does not get old. There are at least three reactors posing this today. I did not realize what todays date was. That is fine. It is the reation people are watching for.🙂
Thank you!!
9:39 he WAS genuinely merciful to her in that moment. You should notice that she didn’t have any blood/vomit coming out of her like the others. But she definitely did deserve to die, like the others. Doesn’t matter if she’s sorry now. Or what she meant to do. She died FOR WHAT SHE DID.
Glad you finally got to see the movie Nat.
It's a favorite of mine this time of year. Yes - so appropriate after the last few years.
I hope the Ministry doesn't put it on the blacklist.
4 1/2 hoots - sold!
Remember, remember....
This movie was very much influenced by the reaction to 9/11, the Terrorism Act and the Iraq War. Ironic that the 'emergency powers' in the film were introduced as a result of a chemical attack/plague.
I definitely think V is not meant to be viewed as a purely good person. He is deranged and is meant to be viewed that way. His views and goals are good but he is a damaged person.
With that perspective in mind what he did to Evie makes sense. That audience isn't meant to be totally onboard with his actions.
What do you all think?! Please subscribe and give the video a 👍🏻 If you hate joy and laughter than our videos aren’t for you 😁
yes yes yes Bat the Red agent double L pretty accurate movie these days
This movie was dead on except it's the Left censoring speech forcing vaccination and lockdowns not the right
I just want to say I'm kind of glad you two have decided not to review Thor Love and Thunder. I like both of you, and while I know Michelle did seem impressed by the flick seen, but I'm not sure how Natalie would react. Personally that scene really bothers me a lot, I don't see it as a joke, and I don't think it should be seen as a joke.
Five stars. Leon The Professional ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ please & thank youse 🙂✅💯
@@AnilSingh-qb7iu In this case we just don’t take these movies that serious and are trying to have a good time.
I love this movie. saw it in the theater when it first came out.
I watched this in theaters as a 15 year old or so then I bought 2 copies on DVD. (one for my brother)
Great movie! I also like that you put it out on the 5th of November. Take care, ladies.
I watched that movie yesterday at my school 😅
From I remember I think(I may be wrong about this) the story was inspired by "Repent ,Harlequin! said the Ticktockman"short story by Harlan Ellison. Its about a A masked man in Harlequin suit fighting a oppressive government.
I found you today when you were on Keri Smith's Deprogrammed podcast and loved your reaction to V for Vendetta. I first saw this around 2017 and enjoyed the movie but it didn't hit home with me like it does now after we experienced what happened with "the coof" over the past few years. Unfortunately it makes what happens in the movie seem so much more believable.
Hey! Thank you!! It really does…
14:44 "It's quite the shrine."
"It is."
"😆"
"This guy doesn't do anything _small."_
Well, that's true. It's significant, though. It's a shrine to another prisoner who died at Larkhill; another prisoner who's _photo_ ha was able to obtain. It's something V uses to keep himself mindful of just what he's fighting for.
No lie: That's how I want my funeral done!
I watched this movie twice while it was in theaters, something I almost never do. The first time was by myself, and I was blown away; the second time, I saw it with my parents, but by then my local theater had stopped showing it, and we had to drive to one in the next county, a few hours away. Both of my parents thought it was great, but it hit Dad particularly hard; I looked over at him during the finale with all the marchers in masks, and saw tears running down his cheeks. We had an excited discussion about it afterward that lasted a good long while, all through trying to find a restaurant for dinner afterward (it was a later showing), straight through the meal, and halfway through the drive back, until Mom finally lost her patience with us and straight-up told us to stop talking about something else. For years afterward, Dad would occasionally pop it into the DVD player, and we would watch it - he and I had very different tastes in movies, most of the time, so it was rare to find one that we agreed on. He died a couple years back, so while I loved 'V for Vendetta' anyway, it's especially important to me now, as it carries some precious memories with it.
Love your reaction as always. 🙂This has been one of my fav movies for years - I like throwing knives so this was very neat to see.❤
V just represents an Idea that you can't kill
Being honest is for example: If you find a wallet with money and you give it to the owner instead of stealing it. If you tell the truth, that means you are being sincere. :P
V for Vendetta is the most artistic DC vertigo movie I ever seen. V even makes me vision Sandman (Wesley Dodds), Spy Smasher and Anarky on the big screen.
Me When I First Watched This Movie: Oh man, I hope this never happens in real life.
2020 Happens: Ah shit!
26:22 I didn't know you can do animations like that. That's a neat trick. I can't see that any more ;)
12:01 It's so unfortunate the way buzzed hair is _consistently_ associated, on screen, with unwelcome circumstances. And, indeed, the average veteran, after getting out of the service, is quick to start growing their hair out again.
But I remember having length in my hair. The bad hair days never let up. No matter what I used (a comb, a brush, spray, gel), I could never get it to sit quite right for more than a few hours.
Then the Navy showed me how well-shaped my head is and I came to this conclusion. Screw the spray. Screw the gel. Screw the comb. Screw the _hair._
Since that day, I've had _this_ philosophy with regard to my _own_ hair: if it's long enough that I can mess it up just by _sleeping_ on it, it's too long. I wash it in the shower and I buzz it every two weeks. That is the _extent_ of my hair care routine.
I don't think I would've _tried_ a buzz cut if I hadn't gone to the Navy, but I'm so glad that I _did._ I _might've,_ though, if society didn't keep reinforcing this _association._
Natalie Portman did say those were real tears when they cut her hair
V for Vendetta is Awesome!!
What's really cool about it is the 5th of November is the same date I gave my life to my LORD Jesus Christ!!
5th of November of 2017 or 2018, it's been 5 or 6 years ago!!
I even made a custom T-shirt with a Bloody V, just like the movie!!
The back of the shirt said " Remember Remember The 5th of November for this is the day the have saved me!! "
On that day I heard a loud voice spoken to me " To get up, and go to church now! "

I actually haven't even watched V For Vendetta and I'll be doing a first watch myself. Thanks for the reaction and I hope all is well. I don't know when I'll be able to watch it so I spoiled myself watching your reaction. 🤷♂️
It’s okay haha You will still enjoy it!
@Geek I meant to say I'll watch it at some point. Thanks for the feedback!
I love this movie.
Whenever I see some legacy media clip, my go to analogy is the people in the bar & their homes, watching them lie, shaking their heads.
In comparing it to recent events, the only thing that bothers me is which side of the isle of the authoritarian government was.
I feel so late to most of your best videos lol but this is one of my favorite movies ever. Absolutely in 2020 as soon as the mask mandates started I immediately thought of this movie. I also saw it as a young teen around the time it came out and will never forget it.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!
This is one of my top 3 movies of all time. Saving Private Ryan and Braveheart are the other two. Honorable mentions are The Matrix, Lord of the Rings Trilogy (these are in a class of their own), Fury, The Negotiator.
I think we will react to Braveheart at some point!
Was amazing the first time! I like it more with each watch. This movie was a snapshot of 2020 for the most part unfortunately! Pity we didn’t have our own V!
The best comic book films are Road To Perdition and A History Of Violence.
Remember, remember the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot , of know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.. thank ladies. I love the scene were the conspiracy is explained to the police man. , oh the doctor with the rose , thats the wife of Jeremy irons. ( actually she is from a famous acting family, her father, sister, her son ) oh her father was in 1984 , ( Cyril Cusack) with john hurt ( villain in this ) if you remember 1984 he was the shopkeeper that worked for the party , entraping people.
They do unfold the conspiracy in an interesting way!
What a beautiful ending
he was in cell 5th, V in roman numbers!
Wonderful movie ladies. Own the Blu-ray and watch it in 5.1 sound.
I wish that we had another Guy Fawkes.
you said something along the lines of "ya, by blowing up a central building" , not cirtizing just saying i thought it was a msg of " we can still get to you, know that"
… V, the Joker and the Crow meet in a bar…
… the Bartender asks, “So, what’s with the long faces?”
Good movie and good graphic novel.

One of my favorite movies. It also became the hallmark for the anonymous group. I personally have three or four masks hanging in my room because I like the movie that much. It is unique to itself, hard to top. The author of the comic that inspired the movie does not like the movie. Which I find sad
This is a great movie but I won't spoil it for you
You both completely cut out the most important scenes in this movie between the two female lovers.
Merci.

Excellent review ! What a great movie. My attitude towards the movie changed to now I see it in a positive light. When I saw it on 2005 I felt differently. In 05, I felt it was glorifying “V” but today after what we have been through the last 3 years, I have more admiration for “V”’s motivation
Thank you!!

You are correct that government would have either taken or redacted the doctor's documents.
I loved the reaction. I love this movie and fun fact both the directors of this movie are transgender females.
Thank you!
I hate to burst your bubble, but Joker is not DC. While the Joker is a DC character, the movie Joker wasn't associated with DC comics.
The blacklist isn't cancel culture, as cancel culture has a societal overtone. The black list, being instituted by the government itself, is what happens to questionable books in a school library that has a school board made up of "Mom's for Liberty." All of those books are "blacklisted:,
They aren’t blacklisted if you are of a certain age so that is also not being blacklisted. Also we said it was “like” meaning a comparison.
please react "my little princess 2011".

We have a lot of movies currently lined up but maybe we can at some point:) thanks for watching!
Great reaction Lovely Ladies. I enjoyed this movie quite a bit when I saw it in the theaters. It makes you think about the rise of authoritarianism, and the movie presented that in a innovative way. Hugo Weaving was Fantastic as V, along with Natalie Portman.
I did roll my eyes at some of the political assumptions it puts forth, but it is also eerily prescient considering the last few years. 😳 It was great seeing you Beautiful Ladies laugh and enjoy the movie, especially considering how dark it gets. Bravo. Live stream this week?
Absolutely! The groups they claim are oppressive are backwards in our society. Had they not forced 2005 US politics into the movie I would give it a 5/5 but they did. I don’t think we will have a livestream until the 14th but not 💯 sure yet! Will keep everyone updated!
Natalie the Red at the end of the movie: "Awwwwww!" 😆 🤣
Yep, some of those political jabs were directed at a certain figure of the day. Yawn. It's a bit funny in a "not so funny way" that a current figure on the opposite side, recreated some of the imagery from this movie. Along with the "othering" language. I'm trying to be cryptic, and I kinda figured you Ladies don't want to get too political here. But with this is a movie, evan though I enjoyed it, it makes it hard to avoid. Keep it fun! 👍😎👍
This film is also the first, but not last, to have writer Alan Moore's name removed from the credits.
Who is Alan Moore?
@@ForceOfLightEntertainment The author of the "V for Vendetta" graphic novel that this movie was loosely based on.
@@ForceOfLightEntertainment the author of the original graphic novel
@@briantrash So why did they remove his name?
@@ForceOfLightEntertainment Sorry, Alan Moore is a celebrated writer of comic books, best known for Watchmen. Moore is also fairly well known as a curmudgeon with a healthy distaste for Hollywood.
I read the comic every 5th of November since it came out in 1988 now I watch the movie every year. The people shouldn't be afraid of the government the government should be afraid of it's people. In the light of the world today I can't help but draw some comparisons to this movie and the current situation with covid, the lock downs, the curfews, the censorship by the media, the cover-ups, the virus and the timely development of the vaccine, this movie was released in 2006, 18 years ago but is even more relevant today
Agree! So how comics accurate is the movie?
@@ForceOfLightEntertainment
The comic, written by Allen Moore who is one of my favorite comic writers, centers more on the darker side of a government controlled people and V's belief of if he could just inspire one person then there was hope. The Wachowskis expanded it to inspire the populous of the people. So there were a lot of liberties taken especially in the last third of the movie but both are very effective in the story telling
Have you watched the hobbit

Thanks for the comment.
This movie was a unintentional prophecy about 2020. Scary to say the least. Great reaction Ladies 👍
I don't think this film is a comedy
We didn’t think it was but it’s okay to have fun watching a movie 🤩
While this movie is brilliant, it's sometimes (mis)used as a current depiction of 'reality' by people who are anti-government for the wrong reasons. Some perspective, honesty and context is in order to seperate fiction from reality.

You edited out her WHOLE imprisonment!!????? WTF were you thinking?????
It's a trumpian nightmare !
I’ve watched a lot of reaction videos to this movie. Most people react to the “prison/interrogation” scene with more sensitivity, depth, and emotion. By contrast, in this reaction I see giggling, making light, and superficiality. Pretty astonishing. If this is a reflection of the culture at large, it’s no wonder why we are where we are.
We aren’t where we are due to two women having a fun time.
ヘラヘラ観るような映画じゃねーんだよ
This is a disappointing reaction. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were in a giggly mood, maybe you had watched a comedy before this one, but the amount of laughing and joking during this video was pretty disrespectful to the content. While there is humor is the movie, it is not a comedy. If you wanna riff the movie, that's fine, but not during a first time reaction, you suppose to be reacting.
The Blacklist isn't similar to cancel culture. The Black List identical state and local governments banning books. Free speech protects individuals from the government literally oppressing speech, which is happening now in America.
Agreed and it is happening in America. Cancel culture does have some similarities however. There is a reason we referred to people being “blacklisted” in other words they are canceled.
