The Pope just gave permission for five parishes in the State of Virginia, USA to celebrate the Latin Mass. Would he suppress the Latin Mass in some areas while giving permission in Virginia?
the choices are chosen out of those parishes who are not in schismatic mode. they still recognize the papacy of francis so not schismatic thus due for consideration for alternative form of mass.
You are right! And Pope Francis is not stupid. He advised the bishops to limit the Latin Masses to congregations that were not promoting schism. This makes a lot of sense. Many of those who promote schism are the same ones who are now rumor-mongering about the pope halting *all* Latin Masses. They ignore Pope Francis's very recent voicing of approval for ICKSP (although the rumor-mongerers had used this meeting to promote the idea that Pope Francis was preparing to end the Institute -- he was, in fact, congratulating the prior general on the 45th anniversary of his ordination.)
"Relative unknown?" Francis had recieved significant support in the conclave that elected Benedict. He was not plucked from obscurity. To say that is simply mythmaking.
Yes, because a significant number of cardinals are strong supporters of Marxism and intent on destroying the Catholic faith. It was well known in the Vatican that Francis was a good candidate to lead this Movement. It's a shame that so many of the men who opposed Bugnini during the V2 conclave are now deceased. Sadly, there are but a handful of men who are still alive who knew about the Marxist Movement that had established itself at the highest level of the Church.

Let's really hope that it's a lot of hot air in terms of the ban of the Latin Mass. It certainly is true that the Latin Mass has been severely severely restricted to the point that very few remain.
Paul VI was wounded in the chest, not his neck, in the assassination attempt in Manila. The Pope said he felt "two compressions" in his chest. His life is believed to have been saved by the fact that his waistcoat under his vestments, which he wore to help with severe arthritis, was so heavy starched that the blade did not enter with full force. Pope Paul did not realise he had been stabbed and what the compressions were until one of his aides noticed blood seeping through his cassock. The wound came exceptionally close to a critical artery but may have been deflected by the starched waistcoat.
@@spoffspoffington as I recall, you are right, the media did not make a big thing of it. I do not recall any talk of it being a miracle that he was saved!

And thank you for the reminder of the surge of hope when Pope Francis was first elected. Kennedy within a month of each other. c) There was a third-party candidate that in 1968 received 13.5% of the vote and in 2024 there is a third-party candidate who is polling close to that number. He is RFK, Jr. the son of Robert F. Kennedy who was assassinated in 1968. d) The Democratic convention was in Chicago in 1968 as it is this year. e)The public was promised an open convention, but back-door deals nominated Johnson's Vice President Hebert Humphrey and this year the public was promised an open election, but a back-door deal will nominate President Biden's Vice President Kamala Harris. f) There were massive riots at the Chicago Democratic convention led by left-wing radicals of the Democrat Party and that is likely to happen again led by left-wing radicals of the Democrat party. 2) The name is pronounced KA-ma-la Harris, not Ka-MA-la Harris. 3) The Beatles concert at Shea Stadium was in 1965 (August 14th).
And Lyndon Johnson's Vice President was Hubert Humphrey, not Hebert Humphrey. And why do you call President Johnson's announcement "infamous". That makes no sense.
