2022 Julia Child Award recipient Grace Young is a cookbook author, culinary historian, filmmaker and activist. Dedicated to preserving and sharing Chinese home cooking and wok traditions with America, Young has made an immeasurable impact on the culinary landscape, transforming the way we cook and demonstrating how cuisines from around the world play an integral role in America’s culinary heritage. In addition to her work as an author and teacher, Young is a fierce advocate for AAPI communities and works to preserve and support Chinatowns and AAPI mom and pop businesses across the country.

Congratulations, Chef Grace Young. You are absolutely right: When you lose a place that you have been eating in all your life, when it shutters, a part of you dies with it. Several places that I used to go to eat with my parents have all closed. Thank you for standing with the AAPI community and keeping the great tradition of Wokking and Traditional Chinese Cuisine alive for future generations.
