Thanks for this interview. More & more people should kniw about this. Sri Ram Prasad, who himself hails from a rich traditional family background of sri Palakkad Mani Iyer ji, has very intelligently & honestly put forth his views on the subject. The family members of MS amma have always consciously been low profile & dignified. The anger of Shri V. Srinivasan, MS grandson, is righteous indignation . I commend his actions. Great, noble people such as MS amma are born once in a thousand years . Very unbecoming of Sri TMK. Never ever dreamt he will go this way. I sincerely hope he changes his Hindu name.
Crystal Clear and responsible replies from RR. And constructive suggestions too to make carnatic music scene inclusive. Could see the pain in his face while talking about the rude comments made by TMK about Ms amma. This was poor show and unpardonable offence by TMK The basic ideology about making carnatic music egalitarian ( and we cannot deny that there is work to be done) is welcome but the method chosen by TMK is so poor. TMK's agenda is to take carnatic music to paamara makkal right? So when MS amma does that by taking suprabatham, vishnu sahasranamam, bhaja govindam from tea kadai to tirupathi, then he comments that it is low quality diluted music. Dei enna thaan da unakku prachanai??? All pamara makkal know MS Subbulakshmi but they would have never heard about TMK. He can never even do one hundredth of her contribution to music and humanity in general. This guy is one very empty vessel.
My only question- why did it take Mr. Shrinivasan this long to take action? This award was announced over six months ago. But I am glad finally he spoke up and taking some action now. Better late than never. Not once was MS Amma’s caste was discussed in our family. Everyone held her in highest regard. We listened, cherished, admired and respected MS Amma to no end and still do. 🙏🙏🙏 People like her come into our lives, once in a lifetime. In fact many of her gurus - the ones who taught her all the stotrams or Semmangudi, no one held her caste against her. So, TMK to say anything about her caste or looks or anything else, is plainly wrong and absurd.

Ramprasad Sir, MSAmma என்னுடைய lifeline. There is not day in my life i don’t listen to her songs. Day after day it is her version of Suprabhatam (Venkateswara & Kamakshi) we listen to, even though we live here in the US. Her singing is divine, they are window to actually feel and see Bhagawan. Those who can, are blessed (like myself) and I can only sympathize those who cannot. (I shall not take the names of the likes of TMKri…. and mess my karma. Every point you have stated about MS Amma absolutely on point and so much more she is. She is the epitome of devotion, & she is THE Carnatic music for me. i have made my life pratigna to learn every song and sloka of hers, her way. I also think Tm Krishna kku konjam aachu vekkam irundhudhuna Sangeetha Kalanidhi vaanga kudathu and andha Ms Amma oda award um vanga koodathu because of his cranky and demeaning talks about yesteryear Mahavidwans who got Sangeetha Kalanidhi and especially about his demeaning and unrespectful remarks mentioned about Ms Amma by Tm Krishna. Hope Tm Krishna has some Vemasuso (Vekkam Manam Sudu Soranai) inside him and does not take the Kalanidhi. Hope Academy cancels Krishna's name from Sangeetha Kalanidhi and does not give the award in Krishna's lifetime. If Krishna takes the award, it is a big corollary towards his so called idiotic and stupid principles about the Academy mentioned by TM Krishna in the past. Comments about MS Amma's dress by Tm Krishna as mentioned in this video is very nasty and degrading.

The best way to treat TM Krishna is to ignore him. Ignoring is the best way to insult him. I urge upon rasikaas to boycott his concert on MA this year or wave black kerchiefs during the concert. Not to attend any of Lec Demos that are being held in MA. The sangeetha acharyas should refrain from presenting any papers and should also impress upon their disciples not to participate in both concerts and in academic sessions. TMK should publicly apologise for his misogynistic remarks that she was showcased like a Barbie Doll or she is a big hoax or her way of dressing was sexy. The women singers who after coming to know of his diatribes against M S S should ponder over whether they have to perform in MA this year. If they have any sense of pride, they should publicly announce their intentions to withdraw from the stage this year. The RAGA sisters, Dushyant were indeed correct in their decisions.

Guys, please realize that the Sangita Kalanidhi award is founded and awarded by the Music Academy since 1942. M S Amma also received it. It is wrong perception to think that it is an award instituted by her or its an award in her name.
I think you are confused. There are not one but two awards. Sangita Kalanidhi M S Subbulakshmi award is being given from 2005 only. This award is normally presented on the first day of the conference (Dec 15) and has been instituted by Hindu to honour MS. The Sangita Kalanidhi award on the other hand has been in vogue since 1942 and usually presented on Jan 1st during Sadas. Mr V Shrinivasan grandson of Bharat Ratna MS Amma has rightly filed a civil suit requesting for an injunction restraining the Music Academy from conferring the Sangita Kalanidhi M S Subbulakshmi award on T M Krishna who had insulted MS Amma in foul language over the last decade

TMK is a loser. If he really cares about music, instead of denigrating the stalwarts of music he should lead the change by being role model. TMK's agenda is to take carnatic music to paamara makkal right? So when MS amma does that by taking suprabatham, vishnu sahasranamam, bhaja govindam from tea kadai to tirupathi, then he comments that it is low quality diluted music. Dei enna thaan da unakku prachanai??? All pamara makkal know MS Subbulakshmi but they would have never heard about TMK. He can never even do one hundredth of her contribution to music and humanity in general. This guy is one very empty vessel.
My only question- why did it take Mr. Shrinivasan this long to take action? This award was announced over six months ago. But I am glad finally he spoke up and taking some action now. Better late than never.
Not once was MS Amma’s caste was discussed in our family. Everyone held her in highest regard. We listened, cherished, admired and respected MS Amma to no end and still do. 🙏🙏🙏 People like her come into our lives, once in a lifetime.

Ramprasad Sir, MSAmma என்னுடைய lifeline. There is not day in my life i don’t listen to her songs. Day after day it is her version of Suprabhatam (Venkateswara & Kamakshi) we listen to, even though we live here in the US. Her singing is divine, they are window to actually feel and see Bhagawan. Those who can, are blessed (like myself) and I can only sympathize those who cannot. (I shall not take the names of the likes of TMKri…. and mess my karma. Every point you have stated about MS Amma absolutely on point and so much more she is. She is the epitome of devotion, & she is THE Carnatic music for me. i have made my life pratigna to learn every song and sloka of hers, her way. Hope Tm Krishna has some Vemasuso (Vekkam Manam Sudu Soranai) inside him and does not take the Kalanidhi. Hope Academy cancels Krishna's name from Sangeetha Kalanidhi and does not give the award in Krishna's lifetime. If Krishna takes the award, it is a big corollary towards his so called idiotic and stupid principles about the Academy mentioned by TM Krishna in the past. Comments about MS Amma's dress by Tm Krishna as mentioned in this video is very nasty and degrading.

How does the interviewer asks " why can't we take the criticism in a positive way?" Taking in the right spirit is relevant only when the criticised is alive. Once she is no more, our culture is to respect in every way possible. TM has no knowledge about this basic decency.

Not to attend any of Lec Demos that are being held in MA. The sangeetha acharyas should refrain from presenting any papers and should also impress upon their disciples not to participate in both concerts and in academic sessions. TMK should publicly apologise for his misogynistic remarks that she was showcased like a Barbie Doll or she is a big hoax or her way of dressing was sexy. The women singers who after coming to know of his diatribes against M S S should ponder over whether they have to perform in MA this year. If they have any sense of pride, they should publicly announce their intentions to withdraw from the stage this year. The RAGA sisters, Dushyant were indeed correct in their decisions.

Guys, please realize that the Sangita Kalanidhi award is founded and awarded by the Music Academy since 1942. M S Amma also received it. It is wrong perception to think that it is an award instituted by her or its an award in her name.
I think you are confused.
There are not one but two awards.
Sangita Kalanidhi M S Subbulakshmi award is being given from 2005 only. This award is normally presented on the first day of the conference (Dec 15) and has been instituted by Hindu to honour MS.
The Sangita Kalanidhi award on the other hand has been in vogue since 1942 and usually presented on Jan 1st during Sadas.
Mr V Shrinivasan grandson of Bharat Ratna MS Amma has rightly filed a civil suit requesting for an injunction restraining the Music Academy from conferring the Sangita Kalanidhi M S Subbulakshmi award on T M Krishna who had insulted MS Amma in foul language over the last decade
