Outstanding Interview Hus!!
Coaching matters...... I wish we knew what it would take to get a Stanley cup in Winnipeg. Great interview.
Overall bones was a great coach, and did what needed to be done to change the culture in Winnipeg. However, Bones did make a couple of bad decisions during the year, and definitely made some bad decisions at the end when things were not working against Colorado. In one interview he said that he would rather lose his way than win another way. So there is that.
That being said, what is really stopping the Jets from succeeding is the lack of really really high end talent. Most of the teams that do well in this playoffs and eventually win a cup, really suck a bit for a few years and get some good draft picks, and get some really elite players. The Jets greedy ownership refuses to let the jets tank, because they know if the jets go on a losing streak, the arena won't be as full. To the Jets owners, doing what it takes to win the cup is not the priority. If they win the cup, sure they won't complain, but it's not the priority. What is their priority is keeping a mediocre team that squeaks into the playoffs, and keeps the arena relatively full. Problem with that is, when it comes time to draft, the Jets are usually drafting 18th or something. You are not going to get the players you need to win a cup if you are consistently drafting outside the top 10 maybe even top 5. To really compete for the cup the jets have to go on a losing streak and draft some top top players. Period.
Love Bones!
I will miss you Bones... I wish you the best in your retirement and whatever you plan to do in the future. This city loves you and you have earned it!!. I hope to see you more on tv and on the panel... Enjoy your summer!!!
