With its sense of foreboarding the song was speculated to be about teen suicide. The lyrics had been inspired by some Japanese literature Pal picked up while touring Japan in 1986. The literature included works by Yukon Mishima, a Nobel prize nominated author who committed suicide in 1970. Overall a great song, everything works so well. Take care.
