- In this episode, I head down my local pier to try my luck against some Yellowtail Kingfish with some buddies of mine. Unfortunately it was a slow day for majority of anglers also attempting their luck however not for some OG veterans showing us youngsters how it’s done. In this style of fishing it’s good to see that Team work makes the dream work! Hope you all enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making this one.

Super entertaining mate, it’s the ratchet straps how do you tie it around the rod holders?
Thank you mate, yes ratchet straps with a Zenith power tool holder from bunnings. It worked perfectly to hold a rod. However dont need them, can always open bail with a rubber band for line managment :)
What I got out of this even more than the catching, was the mateship you guys have doing something organic in this tech filled world. Loved watching this!

Thanks mate, you can grab them from bunnings or mitre 10 - they are called "Zenith Garden Power Tool Holders".

Hey bro do you reckon a 150m spool of braid would be enough for this kind of fishing or would I be spooled cuz with 50lb braid I can lock up and pump the fish
Plenty mate, if you dont have the fish within the first 50m.. they will go straight to the pylons!

Hi mate hows the saltist hyper 962 compare to the saltist BW 962? Thinking of getting one of them to pair with my 4500h catalina
Hi bud, The BW was a great entry level reel. I changed up to a hyper because I didn't like the reel seat lock, kept loosening mid fight. Another reason was I found its limit when hooking onto a big fish, the rod feels like spaghetti if you hook onto a 95+ cm king fish. I've had the old hyper and the new hyper. I prefer the old hypers grip and exposed butt section, i don't like the new hypers spiral grip. The old hyper was a little bit lighter (I weighed both) so don't believe what they advertise. Overall, I like the new hypers rod/blank feel.

My mate recommended a large rod with 60lb braid and 30lb Fluro on a 6000 reel but I’m not sure if that’s overkill or not
30-40lb braid and 8-20lb leader
Hey mate, it really depends where you are fishing and the style of fishing. But a 6000 Saragosa with 30/40lb line and 40-50lb leader anda 9"6 - 10''0 PE5-6 rod for pier fishing in the harbour will suffice for majority of kingfish. Hope that helps!

Hi mate, yes it is.. It can be a bit of a drop on low tide to water level so make sure you use strong singles only to lift fish onto wharf as you'll most definitely bend trebles :)
