    As the devil's advocate, this was after colonialism with some tribes having collaborated with the colonialist to allow colonialism to go on. So he had no one else he could trust, probably, apart from tribe-mates. Still, no excuse though.
    Fast forward now, and no tribe should hold more than 30% of all appointments, especially since no tribe is larger than 30% of the population of Kenya. This should have been in the 2010 constitution. But we didn't care about that. Now, we will suffer future presidents doing these same shenanigans.

    Gikuyu fought for freedom. Some other tribes were traitors and helped in getting many kikuyus arrested by wabeberu! They deserved to get posiitions for the government. They earned it through a hard fight against colonialists. Too bad that you don't like it. Mzee is the true "hero" for Kenyan Freedom!!!!!!!!!

      when they were negotiating for Kenya's constitutional framework and independence in 1960, '62, '63.. hapo kwanini hakujali about who he 'didn't know'? Coz Lancaster delegates had a healthy mix of Kenyans. But after independence apparently all the guys he knew were kikuyus! We should call out tribalism for what it is.. it's a sickness we've been stuck with starting from this mzee and haijaisha till today
