    good idea to check the rubber boots on the steering rack and drive shafts before spraying water under the hood. Good point about keeping water away from the DI cassette. You might also want to remove the throttle body cover and carefully clean that area, and I always remove the battery cover and thoroughly wash the battery and particularly below the battery.

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 лет назад +3

      +Johan Smith Good points, however the boots are exposed to water in normal driving conditions and should be expected to hold up for a wash.

    Jag föreslår att täcka av luftinlopp för att undvika problem, t.ex. med en värme fläkt...och jag föreslår att du tvättar vattnet ovanifrån, dvs från motorhuven ( huv) Och slutligen min sista uppmärksamhet ... du gör det mycket felaktigt !!!

    I would use some white sheen spray on the DI CAssette though, to blacken it.

      +norincobro For sure! I just went over it quickly with a sponge, but you're right that it should be just as black as the rest.

    Jag har egentligen två tips.
    1. Det är intresserat att se allt vad du gör, men det blir lite långtråkigt att se hela processen. Det du skulle kunna göra är att snabbspola när du kör borste/spolar/applicerar medel.
    2. Du borde ha en "disclaimer" att denna tvätt bör utföras i en "Tvätta själv hall" eftersom du släpper ut farliga kemikalier ut i dagvattnet. Du får endast göra en sommartvätt (ingen avfettning eller liknande) på uppfarten hemma. Du skulle kunna skriva "Denna video är endast i utbildningssyfte, detta görs med fördel i en tvätthall"
    Annars riktigt bra, kanske skulle göra detta på min 900 och morfars 9-5 någon helg :)

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 лет назад +1

      +Oskar “Cr4zySwede” Lind Jonsson Hej! Det var ett medvetet val att visa hela proceduren inklusive appliceringen. Jag själv har haft stor nytta av att se hela procedurer i andra detailing-filmer så jag ville göra samma sak här. Jag brukar tvätta i tvätthall, men det går inte att filma där.

    The easiest and safest way is to use WD40 to dissolve grease in the first step and to help repel water from electrical connectors. Then, use your steps as outlined. I also use WD40 instead of a dressing at the end and just wipe it down with a towel.

    Is it okay to wash the undermost parts of the engine bay? is there any electrical connectors or things that I should be careful not to drench too much in water?

    Great video as always. I love that your videos are for the "regular" Joe not the guys spending an hour shaving their windshields clean. Would it be that difficult to remove the DI cassette and clean it separately? It's a little frustrating the rest of the engine looks great but I keep focusing on the dirty DI cassette. I'd like to see that receive the same dressing as the other black plastic covers.

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  7 лет назад

      Just use a wet sponge and degreaser, careful not to spray water around the cassette.

      Water is evacuated from the bottom of the vent unit before sent to the cabin. Same thing with the engine air intake. If it didn't separate water, you'd get wet feet as soon as it rained ;) More info: www.ericthecarguy.com/kunena/2-General-Discussion/45006-cabin-air-intake-how-does-it-keep-water-out

    Så om jag har förstått rätt så är det ingen fara med vätska på all elektrisk utrustning i motorutrymmet (Bortsett från tändkasetten som du nämnde).
    Behöver inte koppla ur batteri och så?

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 лет назад +2

      +TrocaderoKillen Nej, en bilmotor är gjord för att kunna sköljas över. Däremot ska man inte köra högtryck rakt på elkontakter och använda sunt förnuft. Har aldrig haft problem med detta.

      Men bra initiativ i övrigt, och trevlig film. Själv brukar jag köra motortvätt och sen spola med högtryck utan att maskera något, men visst, skadar väl inte att vara överdrivet försiktig.

    good job, looks very good .... but what about the waste water? please do not apply on plain ground . an oil separator at a professional washing area or gas station is necessary to keep the environment clean...one drop of oil can render up to 25 litres of water unfit for drinking!!!
    bra jobb , ser mycket bra .... men hur avloppsvattnet ? vänligen inte tillämpas på vanligt marken . en oljeavskiljare på en professionell tvätt område eller bensinstation är nödvändigt för att hålla miljön ren ... en droppe olja kan göra upp till 25 liter vatten olämpliga för att dricka !!!

    Hi jonathan, I have a question I'd like to ask.
    Do you know how I can replace the connector that's located just in front of the engine? Because my connected has gotten old and brittle and the protective plastic surrounding the wiring has cracked and isn't doing a good job at protecting the wires.
    Here is the connector I'm referring to: imgur.com/tRybZgI

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 лет назад

      +ADotEXE You know, I have the exact same issue. As far as I can see from the wiring diagram there's no real way of replacing that cable without replacing a lot more stuff in the loom, but I might be wrong.

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 лет назад

      +ADotEXE The best would probably be to cut off a bit of wire and splice a new one.

    • @harvey226
      @harvey226 8 лет назад +1

      if it were me, I would search a salvage yard and get one from there... cut it about 6-8 inches. and attach to mine with a water tight connector. replace the plastic wire cover (u can pick up for cheap) and voila. .. it should be good as new. .

    • @TrionicSeven

    I’ve been blasting my Saab 9-5’s engine bay for over a decade. No issues. You really don’t need to baby them too much, just don’t be an idiot and blast water right into fuses or sensors. Saab actually designs their engines to withstand weather..... I can’t say the same thing for some other cheapo brands tho.

    Bra video, men är det inte olagligt i Sverige att tvätta bilen (släppa ut förorenat vatten i dagvattenbrunnar) på garage uppfart ? på vissa ställen är dom etremt hårda.."I Jönköpings kommun kan den som tvättar sin bil hemma på gatan eller garageuppfarten få ett vite på 10 000 kronor."

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 лет назад +1

      Nejnej, inga problem. För det första var jag på resa i Ryssland när jag filmade detta (uppenbarligen). Sedan ska man självklart tvätta på ett sådant sätt att vattnet hamnar på rätt ställe. Det gick dock inte att filma i tvätthall eftersom det är för bullrigt i en sådan.

    (You don't need to do all this non- sense.)
    Just get a pressure washer and blast every part of the engine besides the fuse box and sensors.I've done this for almost 10 years on my Saab 95 and never had any issues.If you have a heated one, even better.
    Use some engine degreaser after and blast/scrub it off again.Never had any issues, just don't be an idiot about it.

      +karl fincham Sorry, but it's not the purpose of my channel to be dictated on how I spend my time. I am providing this content for free without asking anything in return, and yes I do invest a significant portion of my free time producing content. Time that I instead could have spent with my family. Clearly this is not the right place for you, so I suggest you move on to other channels here on RUclips.
