I’ve been following you for a couple years and even purchased stuff from your shop and I have no problem with you going off on a tangent during the stories. It makes it more interesting.
I've been listening to you for . . . 'bout a few years. And I've been looking forward to your commentaries. These commentaries gives your channel that personal touch that I find to be refreshing. Sooo! Keep 'em coming and dont mind those that dont like them. We love them.
I have no problem connecting your side stories with the content. It makes sense to me, and I enjoy the side chatter. Now it's time for me to screw up my computer, so I'll catch you later (if my computer survives)😂🤣😂🤣
The tangents, tirades, and side stories are part of what I listen to you for. If I just wanted the straight reddit content I could just pull up the web page and start text to speech.
Some companies have the attitude "we already are paying these people - let them fix it instead of calling in someone else" all while ignoring that those people aren't doing THEIR jobs while fussing with it, so it effectively costs more, even if it does succeed in the end. Can't see the forest for the trees and false economies.
I built a 'magic box' when I was about eight. the four sides were covered wit aluminum foil. and the top warned, Do Not Pick Up! Inside was a 'D' cell, a coil wound on a bundle of finishing nails and a regular nail for a switch. Moving it or picking it up caused a voltage spike from the coil The idiot kids on my street took turns picking it up and squealing like little girls.
Chief If i did not want to hear your tirades, comments and insights I would just be listening to those reddit bot readers. This is like a combination of a podcast and a reddit reader
@GipsyDangerfan I was surrounded by 'know it all' that were cluelss the red scree was pn my personal system, but I edited a file in Windows IE while the owner was braging. The next time he fired up his computer, it identified itswlf as 'Internet Exploder' and 'Supplied by Jr Samples'. He freaked! Years earlier, i had a compied sector edito for the Commodore disk drives. It stopped at the 1541, but included vert waely drivves that didn't work with the C64 so I used the program to modify a secondd copy to delete the old drives and add the two new models. Then I cleaned up the user interface . It was the original, 'Disk Doctor. When I had a used computer store, I numbered all the diectoris, and ued a hidden batch file to open a meu. A couple kkeystrokes oped it andd opened whatever program you waned. It had a whopping 5MB hard drive, and two 360KB floppy drives. You simply pressed X to open the menu, the chose the program with another letter.
Oh, memos. I remember those. Memo pads made their own copies .... The number of times I've been able to wave the copy under a users nose!!!!! Emails going into JUNK cos the user didn't understand basic instructions! Sometimes the stoneage had good points.
Buddy I have been here a While. Ofcause I am here for your style of Telling the Storys and then trailing off. Otherwise I just could watch some autoreader just reading Storys. But thats lame. Also: I am a Tech person. And I love hearing that you as a manual labor person also get some of the same problems. It sures me, that not only Computers make people oblivious and overconfident :D
Your side comments are one of the reasons why I like your channel and look for it every day. I have several cats that like the smell of your pipe smoke in my beard.
Uncle Jon, just keep doing what you do. I like your style. Though I'm a retired IT guy, I hate and despise the badly programmed AI TTS voices. After awhile I unsub and delete them. Your voice is soothing. 😊
1:21 - “Well yeah, are you new here?” …This absolutely sent me. XD Seriously though, the whole rambly thing is all part of the Uncle Jon experience. It’s part of what differentiates you from all of the other channels and gives you personality, and it’s no small part of why I’ve been here since you were Uncle Reddit and did you have a story for us. (…I do kinda miss the old music you used to use, though…) 23:16 - So my spouse also makes soap, which we sell at assorted local shows and conventions and whatnot. I have a stock reply when someone says something looks or smells like they should take a bite out of it: “We do not advise eating the soap. Most of it probably won’t hurt you… probably… but it’s not going to do you any favors.”
I originally got Direct TV when you had to buy the receiver and a self install kit and rain fade would happen on rare occasions but after about ten years I switched to Dish Network and since their satellite was farther west rain fade happened almost every time it rained so after another ten years I switched back to Direct TV. I have added the Direct TV streaming app to my TV so on the rare occasion I have rain fade I can switch to streaming at no extra charge and in addition I can add other TV's and devices not connected to the Satellite receiver.
satellite connections have to travel much, much farther than cell service. as such, they can be blocked by the water in the clouds absorbing the EM signal enough to make it so it can't be received (the "snow" in the sat tv signal is from just enough getting through for the tv to display, but it missing lots of the information.
I hate pocket doors. Have two in my house. Well, over the years, both doors have fallen partially off the track. Now the only way to fix it is to break open the wall. Instead of doing that, I cut the door so it would be flush with the door frame and screwed it in place, then a small bit of spackle and paint. Now both are just open doorways. As the doors are just going into the kitchen, not a room where privacy is wanted, this was an acceptable and the easiest fix
Good thunderstorms can shut down Starlink as well. Starlink is weak at the best of times but rain/snow can shut it down completely however it can be the Only option for where you live.
The Reddit reader channels I subscribe to are all run by people who have their own comments and opinions as part of the video. Chat on and and entertain us, Jon. I'm loving it!
Dude i Love your Tirades, It actually kind of fun and makes the stories feel grounded Frankly if you don't like the Tirades - Go to another channel and "Bless your heart"
I HATE those robotic stories. That's why I watch YOU and those few exceptions. I'm very sensitive to those typical mistakes AI makes, and it irritates me so much!
If they don't like you giving your opinion or going off on a tangent, there are dozens (probably hundreds) of channels that just scrape reddit stories into text to speech bot and upload multiple times a day. Personally, I prefer the human element in my entertainment.
The bosses new girlfriend caused a lot of trouble at the beginning with one of them being the desktop. She asked where a file was so I replied "On the desktop, top, about an inch right of center". She starts calling me some nasty names (on a chat) so I called the boss and told him that I will not put up with her BS because SHE doesn't understand what a freaking "desktop" is. To be nice though I gave more detailed instructions - "on the computer, minimize Chrome so you see the background with all the little pictures of folders. Now, look at the top center of the screen, do you see a little picture of a file folder with the words "XXXXX"?? " She was still mad that I used the "wrong term" for the "background". When I shared these screenshots with my coworkers who also can't stand her we had a great laugh at yet more of her incompetence.
AI Yi Yi, another SAT candidate (short attention span) there that wants the short sound byte all.clinkcal, nothing personal. I would lay dollars to doughnuts that they have attachment issues in their life.
I like the commentary, even the times when I may disagree with it. it makes it feel human, and sometimes I learn something about building stuff, or just life in general. Educational and interesting. Also, without it you're really just reading someone else's stuff, and not really adding anything to it, which would be kind of cheap. I don't like those channels that just have an AI voice read things; the AI isn't very good at it, and it strikes me as just lazy. Like they could just set it up and walk away, come back later after it's recorded the top whatever stories, and upload. It's probably more complicated than that, but it seems like that's the amount of effort they put into it. And they don't have any random cats or fishing commentary.
I enjoy the random tirades you go off on, they are related somewhat and entertaining. The audio on this one sounds bad. Like we are listening to the wrong channel.
It's overdone. I was trying to get rid of a lot of the background noise and the program I used the could times in the bridge house was awful. Trying something different next time hopefully.
If you don't want to hear the commentary and personal tales, go to one of the hundred TTS AI slop channels and let us enjoy the cool old man
You keep "runnin your mouth" Unkee Jon 😂. We the true fans enjoy your tangential stories; they offer extra entertainment and layers. 😊
I’ve been following you for a couple years and even purchased stuff from your shop and I have no problem with you going off on a tangent during the stories. It makes it more interesting.

Yourcommentary is why I'm subscribed. I recommend your soaps as "Navy veteran carpenter RUclipsr who makes soaps." I like Magic Bus scent.
Chat away my man, that's how you make transformative content!
The tangents, tirades, and side stories are part of what I listen to you for. If I just wanted the straight reddit content I could just pull up the web page and start text to speech.
I can't believe someone had the absolute gall to complain about one of the best parts of your video!
One of the reasons I like your channel and Simon Whistler’s channels is the tirades / tangents. Keep on wandering off script. 😂
Some companies have the attitude "we already are paying these people - let them fix it instead of calling in someone else" all while ignoring that those people aren't doing THEIR jobs while fussing with it, so it effectively costs more, even if it does succeed in the end. Can't see the forest for the trees and false economies.
It's the patter in between that makes the channel better than others.
Keep up the way you are doing things, it's great.
I enjoy your extra construction stories.
I watch SPECIFICALLY for the tangents, lol.
I built a 'magic box' when I was about eight. the four sides were covered wit aluminum foil. and the top warned, Do Not Pick Up!

Not only do I not mind, I like when you comment. Your style here is why you're the only reddit reader I still listen to
Indeed, it adds a personal touch that makes the stories read even more enjoyable.
Agreed. There is a woman from Australia who is great too.
What's her channel name?
@@Uncle_Jon Old Woman Jenkins.
There's a great 'desktop' gag in the movie 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs'.
THERE'S A LEEK IN THE BOAT!
That first story was a gem!
Chief If i did not want to hear your tirades, comments and insights I would just be listening to those reddit bot readers.
This is like a combination of a podcast and a reddit reader
Not only do I not mind your ramblings, I like them! This channel feels like meeting an old friend.
"Don't eat the soap." But it's made from delicious animal far!
Hey, your "tirades" are the special sauce you can't get anywhere else. You be you sir and your loyal fans will continue to follow.
Back when the 'Blue screen of death' was a common sight, I tweaked my computer to use bright red, instead.
He freaked!

Yo! Keep the commentary going Jon! Many are better than the stories anyway! 😊

On another channel I watch, the host always says this when people complain: My channel, my rules! Som there you have it!
Uncle Jon, just keep doing what you do. I like your style. Though I'm a retired IT guy, I hate and despise the badly programmed AI TTS voices. After awhile I unsub and delete them. Your voice is soothing. 😊
I like the personal stuff!
AI 'can' be good but more often it's not.
We are here FOR the tirades. If I want a robot reader i can find other channels.
I love the chatty stories you do! If they don't like your tirades... very much agree they can go elsewhere... :)
1:21 - “Well yeah, are you new here?” …This absolutely sent me. XD

Being a small channel and doing the "this is how I run things deal with it or leave" speech is ballsy lmao
Have my like and sub
Love the tirades as much as the content. Keep it up.

For mobile satellite internet, the 'only' hit I got was for Starlink Roam.
I love your stories. What state are u in?. I'm from Alberta.
Eastern shore of Maryland
"Are you new here?" XD
We want chatty cathy
Or if you don't just skip to the next text in the video.

I've been watching Uncle Jon for some time now. I don't mind the commentary. If I get bored I simply use the fast forward function.
I love the bridge house
I prefer your chatter, ignore that person.
What stories? I'm here for the tangents.
How about a spearmint scented soap. Maybe even spearmint with just a touch of lemon. ;-)
We're working on seeing if we can add spearmint to our lineup 😁
I HATE those robotic stories. That's why I watch YOU and those few exceptions. I'm very sensitive to those typical mistakes AI makes, and it irritates me so much!

Too bad Harry Potter wasn't a thing back then. OP could have said "I know Harry Potter."

98th! You absolutely have the correct ideology in having an very unique & special RUclips Channel of like Reddit Stories! Yea! Hahahahaha! 🍀🙀🌟🏆 🥳😇
I'd say to teach them how to skip the rants, but if they haven't figured it out by now, then it's a lost cause. Lol
Re scents you like: citronella.
Just my opinion.
AI Yi Yi, another SAT candidate (short attention span) there that wants the short sound byte all.clinkcal, nothing personal. I would lay dollars to doughnuts that they have attachment issues in their life.
New video yaaaaas

I like the fact that you tell stories. Hate the AI channels.
No one need ever ask if your channel is AI or Bot generated.
I love the chatty Cathy stuff. Don't let the nay sayers get to you.
Man, I was just getting into the stories and then he goes on a tirade how he always goes on tirades.
🤣👍
I enjoy the random tirades you go off on, they are related somewhat and entertaining. The audio on this one sounds bad. Like we are listening to the wrong channel.
Yeah.. it's making me nuts. It's partly due to a noise filter I have and the other is because I haven't been able to use audacity on this laptop.
PLEASE NO TRIGGER WARNING!!! Those who don't like this can just close the window and get on with their lives.
I was going to make comedic . If I have spare time...lol
Get Starlink
I much prefer an actual human reading the story with commentary to the fake voice.
You add "the human touch" to the channel. Those who don't like this can go to one of the hundreds of AI generated vids.
Is it just me his audio sounds really really bad?
It's overdone. I was trying to get rid of a lot of the background noise and the program I used the could times in the bridge house was awful. Trying something different next time hopefully.
Should be good on today's MC video. Think I've got the mobile set up figured out...lol
@@Uncle_Jon just watched and it's all good
@blindtechworld might take a while but I do get it dialed in eventually🤣
