As someone who works in housekeeping, the caulk is absolutely necessary for holding it on the wall. Guests have a bad habit of pulling on the shampoo and we're replacing those brackets constantly, even the caulked ones come off occasionally.
What's the line "people don't quit bad jobs they quit bad bosses"
Using the return address envelopes that come in the mail costs the company. I did that with every credit card application i got until I stopped receiving them...didn't take long.
No way the wife would have been as understanding if op had looked at another woman
Uncle Jon, I love your pipe smoke beard oil. I wonder how much and how often you put in your beard?
30 dollar lunch sounds expensive
Electric big rigs don't make sense to me, why not just bring back trains? You can have electric trains use that same power and go further and last longer
Rotella T6 BTW. 5.9 Cummins 12 or 24 valve models take 12 quarts.
17:50 you have to realize that a lot of people can't even get 12:00ak (midnight) and 12:00pm (noon) correct.
You? Homeless? I thought you had a travel trailer?
Still gotta have a place to park it🤣 But, we'll see how it goes...lol
@@Uncle_Jon time for that thousand trails membership? If I recall correctly you can stay 2 weeks but then you're out for a week. Rinse & repeat. I knew someone who did that 35 years ago... Uhhhhh come to think of it... They might be gone. Denny's hopping anyone?
Gonna pick up some of thag soap for Christmas
Boiler story. Rapid pressure changes in any system like that can lead to stress fractures due to flexing when pressure/tempreature changes rapidly.
"Business start up syndrome." "I/We need this, this, this, and this..." No, we're not putting any money in, that's your part in this." Uh. Yeah, na. You need to figure that out for yourself.
If your boss asks you to do something unsafe, GET IT IN WRITING, and then refuse to do it. When he fires you, call a lawyer. You now own his company.
With the numbers story and selling that information: that is actually illegal in Europe (GDPR).
EV DO'NT WORK MAY BE IN 50 TO 100 YEARS
Damn! Two hours goes fast.👍
My old Win 8.1 Laptop literally has no "on/off" button. I had to download a "virtual off button" after I set it up to emulate a Win 7 system which I prefer. Otherwise it's a pretty good machine. 😅
Okay... That turns it off... How do you turn it on without an on button?
post strike here in Canada so if you order now you're too late.
I'm allergic to soy. I'll at least try the grasshopper.
Your beard is looking rather good... while mine, although not as long, is looking like heck - like a bird's nest exploded in it. Is the look because of some of the products you make?
Some is the product and some is genetics. I tend to have more straight hair in my beard.
@Uncle_Jon ah. Any suggestions for a specific product to calm my wild beast of a beard?
@thewebexpert3311 I prefer the beard balms. It's like a salve consistency and really helps tame dryness and helps with some control since it relaxes the hair some. Pipe Smoke is my fav scent. Think of a fresh caramelized pipe tobacco with a touch of cherry and vanilla. That's a winner with most people (wives and girlfriends really seem to like it too!)
You went easy with the return envelopes. I once put a brick in a box & taped the envelope to it.
LMAO.. I would have never thought about that 🤣
I had in 1/2 hour the deed of my house was was supposed to signed! I was already packed and the person backed out. Then they said they wanted their deposit. I said NO!
He's a footlicker cause he instantly agreed with the boss. Probably does that all the time.
You ever tried Rattle Snake? It is pretty good really. For real I would not lie to you
I can see both sides of the electric argument. As you say, they are a great option, if you have the infrastructure in place, but after over a century of gas powered dominance, it isnt there yet for many places I'm a little luckier- In BC where I live, power is primarily provided by hydroelectric stations. Now, I'm sure that they produce waste as well but still probably less than fossil fuels. I live in a smaller city and we do actually have some decent infrastructure with several charging locations for electric vehicles and some of the City vehicles have also gone electric so presumably they have the appropriate setup When I bought my current vehicle, I did have the option to go full electric, and it was something I did a bit of research on. however, in the end, though I mainly drive in the city, I did have some concern about when I went out of town. The dealer mentioned that "range anxiety" is common In the end, I went with a hybrid, it seems the most practical choice for the current state of thing. I do generally get more range and at lower speeds, it can cut out to the electric only.
I would do a hybrid in a heartbeat if I didn't have to tow things all the time. Plus, they're still a little pricey for me...lol. It'll get there though eventually.
@@Uncle_Jon I think they're starting to get into pickups now. They had the f-150 lightning electric, not sure if its still available
It took me 3 times of sending back all the papers for chase to stop sending me a desire for me to have their credit card. Last one I threatened legal action if I got more... and they stopped.
That truck driver... with safety issues... I would have refused to drive. I would not get in without it. If they said I "Have to"... would be a call to OH&S...
If you get to many phone calls you do not want try this, stick in this little stinger "do you know about our Lord Satan - He is here to free you", i find they drop you real fast
A boiler emergency shutdown causes a lot of mechanical stress in the boiler as all the metal cools off unevenly. That's why the inspection before restart. A normal shutdown is done gradually over hours to days. The slow drop in temperature allows for an even reduction in temperature that doesn't over stress the boiler.
One day back when I worked in Printing for Seattle Community Colleges in the basement of the main offices, we had a police officer in uniform with a K9, come in ask us what we were still doing in the building? Printing we said. He informed us there was a Bomb threat and the building had been evacuated over 20 minutes ago. We all said some curse words and shut down our printing fast. We evacuated very rapidly! Turns out no one had thought to notify us, because we were at The District Offices. but not Officially part of The District Offices as such. As a shop Steward I officially and formally complained, My Boss complained, and everyone in the Department complained as well. The end result was,the phones were set up to call everyone in an emergency, and give a recorded message depending on the type of emergency. (As well as people to go around and inform people to GTFO Now!)
As an old sparky I can say with confidence that most of the power grid around the world doesn't have the capacity to carry the load of the rising demand for electric vehicles. It will take at least 25 to 30 years to get the capacity up to par for the additional load. I think electric vehicles are a good idea in theory but there are other means of fuel sources that need to be explored as well.
I still like the idea of propane vehicles. We had one t uck that actually worked pretty well. You're not going to drag race with it but it was a workhorse.
I agree that propane is a viable option with all the issues with the electric vehicles a lot more needs to be in place to get where it can be viable. The battery recycling and replacement are another challange that will need to be addressed. Good luck on your move
Hehe, I think the problem is that the transition time & actual demand requirements (Differrent from consumer grade cars/trucks) is something that needs to be addressed and atm the best solution is some form of hybrid where it partly charges itself as you drive and the electric part augments the gas part which takes ALOT of strain off the whole gas situation, allowing resources to go to more ev development in ways that make sense. Though, It'll be a stupid long time before pure EV is viable.
Bugs are like tiny shrimp
i wish you all the luck in the world on closing on both properties in the perfect times! keep being your wonderful self :)
Just a heads up for Canadian buyers: Canada Post is on strike as of this writing. Not sure how this will affect the speed of delivery, just wanted to make sure this is accounted for.
Another video, nice
Jon, the rambling interludes that buffer each reddit reading are becoming ever more annoying. We fast forward through them.
You're the odd one out then...lol. This has been addressed many times. We'll miss you for sure but this channel is what it is.
I will say this for electric vehicles, the cost of ownership is less than that of an ICE. If the cost of gas properly captured its negative externality (the cost in damage by pollution), then the weights in favor of EV would be even higher. Here's the other thing about EV that you got to at 10:00: yeah those coal and natural gas power plants are spewing CO2, but the unit of energy per kilogram of CO2 is greater than for a gas car because the economies of scale. That fossil fuel power plant is working on 100 MW to GW scales while your car is in the kW range.
Normally, EVs are STILL connected to the grid [with ~60% of power from fossil fuel sources, ~21% nuclear and ~19% renewable].... and those those drinking the kool-aid point to solar and wind, each with its issues. Best wind corridors are also to the migration routes of avians (birds) to include endangered ones. IIRC, Solar is peak when new at near 10%, plus all the reflected sunlight and heat on the natural environment. Also, currently, EVs typically do not pay the same proportion of revenue from the fuel excise taxes used to fund infrastructure maintenance (though typically raided for other purposes). Yes, we need [better] alternatives and I am in favor of hydrogen fuel cells.
I used to get Fingerhut catalogs. Each one had an added cardstock cover that said 'If you don't order NOW, this will be the LAST TIME we send it to you. I tested that statement. A year later, I shipped the 12 'LAST' catalogs back to them with a sickly sweet overly polite thank you note. Never got any more.
Surprised the fire pumps for that old of factory weren’t steam powered. Frequently the emergency station for boiler operators was the boiler room until the fire chief decided to let the building burn down. Surprised the Safety Officer never ran across this in their military service.
For the EV truck story: it sounds like he found a "fast" L2 station (which often have cheaper rates) instead of an L3 station (which charges faster. Edit: based on the calculations below: they found a 25kW L3 charging station, typically found at dealerships. A Scania EV truck has a 416 kWh battery. After charging 2-3 hours they are at 17% (70kWh). Assuming the truck was drained to 0 and 3 hours of charging: they were charging at only 23kW on average. 35kW if you assume 2 hours of charging from 0. In reality you would not go below 5% charge (meaning they only need to add 12% [or] 50kWh to get to 17%).
1:29 the people picking up the nutritional information asking for a proper menu are probably looking for a printed menu due to poor eyesight. Also now that large screen TVs are used to display the menu in many places: they often periodically interrupt the menu display with inane animations that printed menus lack.
Your truck story reminds me of when I, also fresh from the military, got a job at our local U-Haul store. I was the General Rental Equipment repair/service tech, but also helped in "the yard" hooking/unhooking trailers. I had never driven anything bigger than a pickup truck. So end of summer and school is starting, students coming back to town. We have two universities, a state college and a vo-tech school so LOTS of students. Lots of rental trucks and trailers coming in. Where to stash them all, as our yard filled up fast? Our manager found lots all over town - I think some didn't even know we were using their property. We had little trailers loaded inside big trailers and the big 24' trucks. They tasked me to drive a big truck towing a big trailer. Two other inexperienced guys were being taught to drive in the back lot. I thought "Eff it!" and climbed in and cranked up. "How hard can it be?" 😂 Yeah, I took off, grinding gears. I never could find 1st and 3rd gear, but I made do. Luckily I knew the area I had to go to. I made it there, chughing and lurching til I got the rythm, off-loaded and we all piled into a van to go back. I made several more loads that day, getting better. By end of day, I was driving those big 24' trucks like a pro. 😎👍
I invented an axiom about moving. "You never realize how much 'stuff' you have, until you have to move it." I usually replace stuff with another less polite word that begins with an S.
News for you: you didn't invent that. Many people have been saying that forever
I obviously wouldn’t know for certain, but I’m *reasonably* sure that the main reason you didn’t get in any personal trouble (deal aside) for not being properly licensed for driving a truck is that you managed to keep from hitting anything or anyone after you lost control. You’d be surprised at… okay, maybe *you* wouldn’t be surprised, heh, but a *lot* of people would be surprised at how much weight “no harm, no foul” actually carries in some circumstances - if for no other reason than it makes for less paperwork that way. (Source: My mother was a deputy sheriff.)
Plus .. I am brutally honest with LEOs...lol. I don't play games with them and they almost always give me a break. I own my screwups and they seem to appreciate that.
@@Uncle_Jon - Good policy to have. ^.^
Think of the charging station rate like a fuel hose size - the bigger the number, the faster the charge - mind you there are limits to how fast you should charge the beast.
Electric vehicles... A good idea usually poorly executed. In city, maybe. On the road cross-country... not good. And solar is also very limited. Up north, in rainy/overcast areas, a very bad idea. The technology simply isn't mature yet. Electric vehicles just change the location where the fossil fuels are used. 😮
