Greg, I hope you grasp just how big of an impact you have on complete strangers. I went from never even fishing from a kayak to fishing my first season competing in tournaments. Pretty much just from inspiration from your videos. I also try to keep the same mindset you display consistently! I know I'm not the only one, so thank you sir! Oh and hopefully I'll be fishing in the west coast championship on clear lake next year 🤘
True that!! Greg why would they plant trout in a Bass Lake? To give the Bass a food source and a fishing source? This is not the only lake you have found Trout and Bass in !!
Most people will never understand why we wake up at 3am on a Sunday morning, to go out in the cold, wet, dark wilderness... that shake of the hands is unlike anything else I've ever experienced! Side note, I've seen you kill it too many times with that a-rig, I'm giving it a go!
Greg, love the new fisheries. And They're similar to stadiums. Especially we, who explore new lakes, in our new kayaks. Always an adventure, but you make it suspenseful. Love the learning content you bring us. Stay safe bro.. 🤟🎣🙏
@@GregBlanchardFishing Greg, I'm in R.I. But now, with my Torqueedo and PDL DRIVE. ON Those freak 50 to 60 degree day's, now my baby can come out. My weakness, like many is definitely, Oct thru Feb. If it is del Valle, those were accidentally introduced in the mid 70's when they had to pump water into the reservoir when it got real low. They now spawn in there and there are a lot of big ones on the bottom
@@BobbyOfEarth I used to fish there decades ago and have caught a lot of big trout from there. That little reservoir is one of the Bay Areas best kept secrets; especially the striper fishing.
Glad to see you finally fish this particular lake. Largemouth and smallmouth there too. Wait for spring and go to the left from the launch in the spring… trust me. Big grass beds about 5-8 feet deep down there near the end.
I LOVE fishing like that....racing across the water after busting fish. I actually made a top 10 in a tourney earlier this year because i saw stuff going crazy out on main lake and I assumed they were striper, but they were spotted bass...and I spent the whole entire day chasing a school around. It would sound for a while, then 5 mins later they come up exploding on bait, id race over there, catch a few til they sounded again....just all day. I love that style of fishing.
Also in my experience fishing schools of striper or spots or white bass, whatever, I do much better on a shallow diving small crank, a little swimbait like largo shad on a ball head, etc. Ive come across it where they will not touch a topwater, or only the very small ones hit it; so now I try to get down a foot or more or down into the bait they are after.
Id not assume I can tell you anything you don't know, but Ive had stripers blowing up like that in my home lake. Had tons of success on shad pattern lipless crankbaits, burning them through a couple feet deep.
That used to be my favorite lake! There are not only largemouth but also smallies! Go back farther back towards the dam! Fish 🌮🐠🌮! No in-n- out! Great day, Greg!
Hey Greg great video as usual. I would like to get you to demonstrate the knot that I've seen you tie briefly. The knot is when it appears your free spinning your lure around your line or if anyone could send me to a site that demonstrates it.
this is my home lake! let me know if you ever want to hop on my boat, would love to get you out there again! and catch some boils! its starting already always fun to fish there! CNR all day!
LMAO!!!!!! That’s an everyday occurrence for us down in SoCal!!!! Know the feeling. At times it’s a bit unnerving. Especially when you see the pumpkin head in the car tailgating you, texting away without a care in the world. Yikes!!! Nice place. Great video!!! Thanks
Nothing like fishing somewhere new! I was just at a new lake, Lake Burton in Georgia, where I got on some of my first spots. I’ve really been enjoying your videos recently, and I thought it might be cool to add some basics of the spot you’re in such as depth and water temperature when you catch a fish, similar to what you do with bait/time. As someone who’s trying to work on my fish finder skills, I thought it could be helpful to try to learn off your experiences. I know it might not be feasible, but I just was throwing it out there. Either way, I’ve been enjoying the content, and keep up the great videos and fishing.
Been waiting for you to tackle this body of water! I personally fish it a ton with a few friends, and wanted to see how we compare to the legendary GregB!
Nice! I haven’t been there in years, but this is one of my hometown lakes and was also one of my favorite hiking spots. Wondered when you would get around to fishing it. I’m surprised to see how much water is in the lake after the low levels across California this year. There’s been quite a few autumns where I could walk across that lake from swim beach to swim beach.
Watching those Stripers disappear when you threw the topwater made me chuckle. One of our lakes has tons of Hybrid Stripers. the first time I went there, before sunrise, they were going nuts. I threw a Spook in Bone (much like your bait), and they did the exact same thing to me. They'd blow up in an area, I'd paddle in, throw the Spook............. and nothing. They would totally clam up, like they did for you.
That was the first place I fished when I moved here to the Bay Area. Caught my first trout there from the bank. Good size too, about 14" rainbow on a minnow.
Looks like they have kept the water level up out there and plenty of structure. I’m sure you would have found the green backs eventually but striper is always fun when the bite is on. I might have to trip up to that lake this weekend. I recognize that spot.
It was really cool meeting you out there on the lake this video must have been from the day before when you were crushing striper hope to see you again out there sometime it is a very nice Reservoir to catch largemouth and Smallmouth out of tight lines buddy🎣

It's a nice lake with plenty of fish to catch any season. Valle has just about every fish a lake can have. One issue....The COST!!! It's in my backyard but it's cheaper to drive and launch at the delta than pay for all their fees. Trout are planted in large quantities. Great video. Been a while since last there. Costly with parking, launch, STRICKED boat inspection, me, 2 boys and a dog.🥺💰💰
On another note, give the A rig a few pops every once in awhile. It will flex together and separate. It will replicate a bait ball running in fear and trigger a bite.
Hi Greg, I learned all the knots this morning 😊 Thank you. How do you decide what line to run for instance, which rigs do your pline flouro, which do you pline braid? Obviously the punch is braid, frog is braid, your ultralight finesse is flouro… your basic rule of thumb? I have six ready to rig. 4 baitcaster, 2 spinning one of which is crappie ultra light.
