Around 10:25 when Rik refers to his duo gig with Dave Dunlop - he's talking about Dosey Doe in Spring, TX (north of Houston) in October, 2018. I was there that night and yes, Rik was quite impacted by the energy of the audience.

Since Thomas mentions "Hold On" as such a significant song in his life, I want to share this video of Rik performing the song at one of my early Network Concerts that I booked/promoted.

Thomas, you always know how to amaze me. Thank you so much for your amazing job! You interviewed a Rock hero of my youth. I just learn to play my own electric guitar, so Rik is my biggest influence! TRIUMPH is my favorite Hard Rock band. Oh, you even spin CLASSICS on LP? Great choice!
    Warmest regards from Russia...

It sucked that the record label folded on Rik's debut as solo artist. Same happened to Triumph w/o Rik. Edge of Excess was climbing the charts and their record company imploded. Now that's crazy coincidence.

I would disagree with Rik that Gil Moore wanted to be like Kiss. Haha. He liked Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple types and blues based rock band. There was nothing wrong with that.

Great collection of songs but to call it the best of the hard rock years is wrong.

I love Rik but he seems to throw shade on Gil and Mike with his interviews and continuously. Makes me wish you can have Gil or Mike on to defend themselves. Rik had a great career with Triumph. Maybe if he didn’t have Triumph in his life his career wouldn't have been that successful. Maybe we can reflect on that.

Totally agree! It was so long ago and the guys have reconciled so why the need to keep throwing shade. There is still bitterness there. Meanwhile, had it not been for Triumph there is a good chance the world would have never heard of him. He need to let go of the anger, despite what he says, I don’t think he has

@@Miadolph427 You are spot on. Rik still harbors bitterness. Many interviewers seem to side with him. He wanted to do his own thing which is fine, but that wasn't going to bring him more success than with Triumph (and did he even care) He's basically conveying that Gil and Mike held him back. But I look at it maybe he held them back in a way as well. Other rock bands kept things going even with different music trends. They were a rock band and Rik wanted more progressive songs and pop stuff. I think people got confused because Triumph could overpower you and then bring it down with softer tunes. They were versatile but it probably hurt their overall success with rock fans. It didn't bother me because I love Triumph. I was still gonna buy the records and go to concerts. The average rock fan probably stuck with other groups and more or less let go of Triumph. What's funny to me is all the comments on RUclips that gives Triumph so much credit and realized what a terrific band they were. Underrated is a word that comes up a ton. Sorry to be so wordy. Cheers 🍻

@@markcarchedi915 Triumph was and is still my favorite band , I still listen to them every day. With that said, they were a little schizophrenic with stuff like Take my Heart and Suitcase Blues. Again, I love those songs but the average dude looking for a hard rock albums might be like, what the heck is this. I think that Rik might have been a little too self indulgent at the cost of the popularity of the band. I didn’t like that he said that some of the Old Triumph songs sounded better live with his new band than they ever did with Triumph. Even if that is true, why the need to say it? For whatever reason he can’t let go of his anger. I believe he should be more thankful for the platform it gave him that allowed him to have a solo career. I’m pretty sure that 95% of the people who bought his solo material were old Triumph fans like you and I. We have stayed loyal to him yet I don’t know how loyal he is to Gil and Mike. I’m beginning to think that the only reason he really reconciled with them was for the sake of his own solo career. the reunion shows, the doc, fanfest, Allied Forces 40th anniversary box set, all thrust him back into the limelight.

@@Miadolph427 Well said!! Triumph was a huge part of my life and will always be. I read his memoir and learned Rik has so much anxiety. He was all over the place with memoir. He doesn't complement Gil or Mike on musicianship which is troubling to me. It's always about the business side he gave credit. He also didn't become a musician to be a star or live the life of one. Although he was for a while. Maybe Gil and Mike had other goals. Just complicated to me.
