Thanks Ken, Nice overview of pocket knife whittling. I think Chris Lubkemann is probably the king of pocket knife whittling. He has several books on the subject with some great projects to undertake. I love his Chicken on a stick, I still can't get that tail plume to look like his.
Thank you Brian. Yes I should have mention Chris in the video (I actually meant to and completely forgot). I have owned his whittling book for many years . . . and I agree the darn tail plume is a challenge! 👍✌
Hey ken thank you for this the old timer that was on the right side is one I use years ago I was at an auction and I purchased a box of stuff for a couple dollars and in the box it had a few pocket knives one of them was a lone ranger it was in perfect condition and another was a roy roger it too was in amazing shape unfortunately I miss placed them anyway enjoy your Sunday and Happy whittling my friend 😊
Hey Mark! Hopefully the knives "reappear" one day 😁. When I was prepping for this video I could not locate the 3 swiss army knives I have (things tend to disappear too often as I get older 😉. Thank you my friend - enjoy your day! 👍✌
The barlow style knife has been commonly used for at least 400 years, and friction folding knives for litterally thousands of years. Look up "roman multitool", it's a literal multitool from 2-300 AD. The history of knives is wild
@@JuanGarcia-s7s6k I purchased it about 12 years ago. It is stamped "440T" - no rust issues. The 440 is SS, not sure I ever heard of a 'T' designation though. I am going to give that one a go - it has been a long time since I put it to use.
Slip joint knives!! You have a great collection of them thanks for sharing!
Yes, "slip joint" knives - thank you, I knew I was forgetting one. Much appreciated! 👍✌
Be careful some slip joints can get loose handles from carving with them. But when you find a guud one for whittling thats awesome. Ty ^^
Fortunately, I have never had that happen - I will keep it in mind! Thank you. 👍✌
Thanks Ken! I actually just purchased a couple of rough riders recently and need to hone a couple of the blades! Thanks for the content!
Thank you Brandon. Let me know how they work out, I am interested in picking up a new one! 👍✌

Thank you Ken nice variety
Thank you William! 👍✌
This was very timely. Been thinking of just bringing a pocket knife camping and not hauling around carving tools.
Yes, nothing like camping and whittling with a pocket knife - there is always wood on hand. Enjoy you camping trip! 👍✌

Yes, the history is quite interesting. Thank you for the information! 👍✌
great video ken, would love to see the Opinel knife in a video.
Yes I will definitely put an Opinel vide on the to do list. Thank you! 👍✌
¡Gracias! 👍✌
Opinel makes down to a #2.
Wow that must be a small knife. Thanks! 👍✌
what size is the red opinel you show at 3:14?
It is a No. 8 Opinel, with a blade length of 3.25" - folded it is ~ 4.25" 👍👍✌✌
ok looks smaller than that nice knife nice videos. 👍@WhittlingWoods
@@RowenaKnapp Thank you! 👍✌
Old timer top right
Sure is! 👍✌
@@WhittlingWoods old one. Carbon blades
@@JuanGarcia-s7s6k I will have to keep an eye out for an "old" old timer! Thank you. 👍✌
@@WhittlingWoods I think that one is an older one. Does it rust?
