Those tips are great Jack about modification ..I use corks ..Thank you Jack for the great content my friend
Thanks very much Gene. I have several knives with blades covered by corks as well.
Good show jack stay safe just carve
Hey Rob! Thanks very much!
Thanks cousin Jack for all you do for the wood carving world. You provide such wonderful insights and information about wood carving and the wide scope on the various types of wood carving. Also, providing the links for reference is most helpful. I look forward to your weekly videos.
Hi Bruce! I really appreciate your support and your very kind comments are much appreciated Cousin!
Thanks Jack for another informative video. I look forward to them every week. I like the face that you carved on that dowel. Please do it again and make a tutorial video on it. It looks like a good beginner video and a good practice whittle.
Hi Rodney! Thanks for your kind comments! I’ll have to add that to my list of future tutorials.👍
Thanks again for the video Cousin Jack! I wanted to mention blade covers I found at the Carving The Rockies Show this year. Don Swartz had a table with leather blade covers that are very simple and effective. Don has 2 different sizes of these leather blade covers. I really love these blade covers. Inexpensive too! Thanks Cousin Jack.
My pleasure Cousin Doug! Thanks for sharing the news about Don's blade covers. Do you know where folks can get in touch with him if they want to buy a blade cover?
Great job Cousin Jack! Thank you.
Thanks Cousin, my pleasure!
Thanks for another great one, cousin Jack. I’m always waiting for the next one.
Hi Don! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks very much for your support Cousin!
You make it easy to keep up with everything. Thanks for the info.
It’s a pleasure to share! Thanks very much for your comment!
For blade covers I use the Scandinavian Birch Bark Sheath technique, but with thin leather. Some kind of adhesive is necessary to keep the binding strand in place. I've used super glue successfully. But yes, the same, exact steps will work with thin leather.
Nice! There are no Birch trees anywhere near where I live. The leather is a great tip, Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the information, I look forward to looking up the recommended videos you presented. I especially liked the eyes on your blade cover. Great idea having them look in the direction of the sharp side.
Hi Bernard! I'm glad you enjoyed the episode. Thanks so much for your kind comments, the eyes on the blade cover help to keep me safe for sure.
Thank you for the heads up!!
Hi Laurie! My pleasure, happy to share!
Nice video Cousin Jack.
I make myself leather sheaths for knife and palm tool blades. I bought a cheap leather stitching kit and a sheet of leather, then cut to size depending on blade size.
Hi Tony! Thanks for sharing your sheath making process. It sounds like a very effective approach!
Guessing ahead for fun. Choil, Spine, handle?
Well done Mike! You’ve added some gamification to this week’s episode. 🙂
I was very interested in the Flexcut Pro until I learned they they made the Pro Detail blade THICKER than their other detail blade. I think that's ridiculous and misleading to call that decision, "Pro." Now I'm learning that they didn't even bother to smooth the edges on the corners of a piece of steel 🤣. This line of knives isn't for carvers. It's an exercise in Streamlined, Corner--Cutting Manufacturing.
Hi Ky! Yes, Flexcut made a few choices that are suboptimal. The new handles and the flat grind seem to be on the right track. I guess they made a business decision with some of the other choices.
@@WoodCarvingWeekly Yeah, I hear you! I was impressed with the flat grind and the handles!
