My friend was ordering food online almost costing him $100 each time Today I finally found an example and had him smell a warm plastic mailing bad which smelled exactly like his chicken ordered a couple of days ago and mind you almost $100 People need to see what they are paying for isn't What they are paying for!       I do this also, daily. We are skinny in my family but still suffer all the western diseases. Why? What else can we do? I don't fast because I'm hypoglycemic and have adverse reactions.

    I've lost 23 lbs. so far, doing the intermittent fasting. My body finally adjusted and the hunger went away. It does take several months, but it has been worth it.

      I agree with you. I fast for 3 days a month. I weigh 145 and am 5' 10". I tell people that if they put more in one hole than what comes out the other hole, they WILL get fat.

      @@Ashtarot77 I found that a 24 hour fast doesn't remove much size. It might remove some weight, but it's size that matters.
      I always go for 72 hours - 3 days. It's a bit more difficult with cravings, but it's worth it.
      Afterward, I always cut back of my food intake. Hwever, after a week or two, those burgers and apple pies sure look good.
      It's hard to stay healthy in America!

    The carnivore diet is the best thing I have ever done for my health. I lost 55 lbs in 8 months. I have been carnivore since January, and it's been an incredible journey of healing. My husband saw my weight loss and started carnivore 4 months ago. He has lost 36 lbs. I eat within a 7 hour window, but my husband does not. It works either way! I feel amazing. My skin is not dry anymore, my sever dry eye is 95% better, my skin is clear, my mental health is so much better, my constant muscle pain is 95% better, my sleep is better, I am never hungry between meals and just over all I am amazed by this life style.

      I don't know, the latest news is that is hard on your heart. Also, if you're up and about ans haven't given your body any nutrition, it will suck what it needs right out of your bones-- like calcium!! Your heart has to have 4,700 mg of potassium every day to keep your Rhythm steady. I'd be shocked if you could get that in a 6-hour window. Your heart also needs at least 300 mg of magnesium so that it can relax between Beats. Your muscles also have to use magnesium to relax, and also some calcium. If your calcium gets low, it will drag down your vitamin D levels, it will make you hurt, and it makes your skin itch, then kind of burn when you scratch it. I have to be dairy-free, and I became deficient in calcium a couple of years ago, and it made me hurt all over. No matter how confident your doctor is, he probably won't give you a spectracell test so that you can address your nutrient deficiencies, and we ALL have them! Low magnesium, low potassium and low taurine could mean a heart attack is stalking you. Here's the thing: Nutrition is NOT optional!...It's exactly what EVERY cell in your body runs on! There's no drugs in your body, and drugs won't fix a nutritional problem. Would you put water or oil in your gas tank and try to crank up your engine on that? We've been FED a lot of misinformation by THE FED (word pun), which is bad information-- the kind that makes you sick, even kills.

Intermittent fasting for me, besides weight loss, got rid of my intertrigo, got rid of my knee pain, gave me more energy, better sleep. And other ailments I didn't know I had, until I felt better.

Many get "kick-backs" ($) for prescribing certain drugs.. especially new on the market drugs. There 'are' some good doctors but you have to always be on guard that the Rx companies haven't gotten to them.

      That is, unfortunate, normal for many doctors. The drugs are more important than the health. I like my PCP and his NP. But other doctors that he has referred me to are nothing more than pill pushing drug dealers. The late Sarah Hallberg said "legal drug dealer"

    Exercise is so important, something most people who want to lose weight don't do. I walk 2 miles a day and it has been so beneficial. Thanks for your great videos!

      Diet is much more important than exercise for losing weight, though there are plenty of other health reasons to exercise. I walked like you do for years and it had little effect on my weight but it did help my health in many other ways. A combination of reducing calories and lifting weights finally got my weight loss moving.

    I can only speak to my personal weight loss journey. For years I reduced calories and did a lot of walking and lost very little weight. Then last fall I reduced calories more (not drastically) and started lifting weights (only for 30 min. three times/week) and finally started losing significant weight. Then I hit a wall with my weight loss in the middle of spring, I reduced calories further with a focus on eliminating sweets and reducing carbs generally, for the last two months I've been losing 2-3 lbs/wk.

    I'm 62 this year. Cycling around 14,000 - 20,000 miles a year in the UK or our other place in the canary Islands. Never bothered with the jibby jabby. On tip is stay away from the health service if possible. If your food comes sealed, vacuum packed leave it. Every few weeks we do a 3- 5 days water fast. Although we probably shouldn't we still bike but shorter and slower. Try not to eat after 7pm. Biggest thing before any exercise or diet is to sort out your mindset first.
    No tv or social media except for a bit of RUclips. Surround yourself with like minded people and don't be frightened to say no and don't worry about what people think.

    After trying keto and IF, which I found too restrictive, I've gone back to counting calories and eating only 3 times a day with no snacks. This time, I'm using the knowledge I've gained from you, and others, about seed oils and ingredients in processed foods. I focus my meals on protein first and carbs last. It's only been a week but I feel great, am not hungry, and don't constantly think about food.

      Counting calories in and calories out is only Math. It will work for a while. I 100% agree that you need a calorie deficit to lose weight. What counts is eating real foods and keeping your insulin down, that way you can burn your body fat. If you learn to only eat real foods (made by God/Earth, when you are truly hungry), you will also put yourself into a calorie deficit, too. But you will be able to sustain it and you will not be constantly starving because you will be feeding and nourishing your body with what it truly needs.

    I went from 19% BF to 14% (serious 5 day weightlifting program) by going Carnivore with a 95% reduction in consumption of inflammatory sugar/carbs.
    A major major benefit was not the fat reduction but the HUGE improvement in my arthritis and joint issues.
    I am more flexible and pain free than I have been in 25 years... I am 65 now.

    Insulin also stimulates the growth of cancer cells. Partly explaining why overweight people are more prone to getting cancer.
    FYI you can get a gluconometer and test strips very inexpensively at Walmart. This way you can figure out what foods you need to avoid so as not to stimulate insulin.

    My doctor is originally from India. He always asked about my diet and sleep. He does fall in with prescribing medication but we’ve discussed it this year after I got sick and couldn’t eat and take meds. When I was better I began taking meds again and felt as if I had been poisoned. Two doctors prescribing meds and I’m off a few and reduced dosages on the rest. Feeling better. Have issues with skin since I have limited scleroderma but trying to address it with diet. I’m 68 and just don’t trust doctors as much and definitely DO NOT trust pharmaceutical products, CDC, etc…. I was on the carnivore diet and was losing weight and feeling better. But inflation makes it difficult for me to afford to stay on it. Thanks for all your input and information!

I switched to eating real whole foods (mostly animal based) and walk everyday. I’m down 68 lbs. and have so much more energy when I used to be tired and sluggish. Keep up the great information!     I started the 5:2 fasting about 18 months ago. I started because I felt that my body did not have time between eating to totally clear out and as a result felt bloated with stomach pains and weighed down. Since fasting I have felt so much better, I no longer get stomach pains, have more energy, sleep better, better skin, lost weight and felt fitter. Since then I have read up on intermittant fasting and how good it is for you (clearing up of dead cells etc) and I don't think I will ever stop now as I can feel the benefits. Some days I actually look forward to having a fast day because I know that will sort me out if I am feeling a bit overloaded. Thanks for the video Dr Suneel interesting to hear about the insulin levels as well.

    And get your fasting insulin tested when you have blood drawn. You have to specifically ask for it, and doctors don't like you asking, but just insist. Also HB A1C. And also insist on getting a printed copy of your lab work for your records. That way you can measure your progress, and, more importantly, you are in control.

    I guess without realising it, that's sort of what i have done. Got told i was type2. Got zero advice or support.
    So i went keto. Cut all processed foods and oils (although ive always been sus about seed oils and magarine).
    Started fasting once a week on mondays. Cut all sugar and sweeteners (but never been a fan)
    Do a 72 hour fast every other month or so.
    try not to eat before noon or after 8
    Try and do 7500 steps a day although i have been low lately and not kept that up recently.
    I lost 20 Kg and got rid of the floaters in my eye sight.

    I do the carnivore diet, IF, and every few months I do a prolonged fast. I'm 64 hours into a prolonged fast right now. My inflammation and pain levels are already a lot lower. Hoping I can go for quite a bit longer. 🙏🏻

    Cut out all wheat. After reading about the frightening GMO technology used in growing wheat and how far removed it is from the wheat people ate 100 years ago, I quit it. Amazing -- no cravings for sugar foods (I did NOT cut those out, but I did not want to eat them any more!) Food was no longer on my mind. It was much easier to stick to an intermittent fasting regime without feeling like I was starving. Lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks. Feel 110% better!

    People need to understand what body fat gain is in the first place. You gain body fat mainly as a survival mechanism. Your body will regulate your fat set point, and the key to losing fat is to figure out how to lower your genetic set point. We know several factors cause this, but the main one is fructose consumption.

      Exactly. If your body thinks it's in fight or flight chronically, it's going to want to store more in the form of fat. Chronic instability, stress makes you want to eat more, but now your body is hurriedly 'storing' ....and the more you eat processed foods, the more your body is going to want to eat to try to get the proper nutrition it desperately needs. At this stage the body is weak, it's going to be asking for hits of sugar as an answer to that weak state. This vicious loop is what I believe most Americans are trapped in. They need to train their body out of that trap. Let go - destress, meditate, don't live to work but work to live (stop letting your ego drive you to the grave keeping up with the Jones), get outside, laugh often with friends & family, reduce eating processed foods... it's not all about "weight" and following diet fads...it's about listening to your own body. Only you know you, since you've lived with yourself for so long.

    I have lost a stone all through intermittent fasting, following the Mediterranean diet, exercise and after reading Prof. Tim Spector’s books on how important the gut microbiome is so important to our health. I have become more intentional towards what I eat and do now and with the support and information from people like Dr. Dhand I feel I am making the right choices.

    Totally agree. In the spring, I buckled down and this was exactly how I thought of it. I pretty much did the same foods I have done in the past to lose weight/ gain energy but this time I put the focus on blood sugar. I didn’t even end up ramping up my exercise as planned (I went on vacation and fell off my schedule for the rest of the summer). I made an effort to be dedicated to my morning walks and added in an evening walk because I saw a study on how it helped diabetics and their insulin levels after dinner. I was able to take off 10 lbs in 3 weeks - which is like a record for me. I have been in really good shape before - basically doing p90x and then keeping up / maintaining weight lifting and workouts for a few years, but even then it took forever for the weight to come off and I was tracking my calories/macros too.

    My concern with low carb diets, is when your glycogen levels get so low, your body resorts to gluconeogenesis to make sugar from proteins and fats, and cortisol rises as a result, and muscle tends to be broken down in the absence of carbohydrate. So...for that reason, I tend to recommend foods like lentils, quinoa, whole oat groats, vegetables, and intact fruit, to nourish the body with its preferred fuel source (carbohydrate) without triggering fat storage, instead of attempting to restrict carbohydrate from whole food sources..

      Are you differentiating between liver glycogen and muscle glycogen? If you’re an active person, I wouldn’t worry about gluconeogenesis.

    I'd love to see content on gaining weight for people who struggle too. I love your content, this is not a critique of your video at all as I love your work, just a comment in general.
    Everywhere we´re bombarded with content about how to lose weight, but there're also thin people who struggle to gain weight and also be in a decent weight range from the opposite side.
    Just a video suggestion - would you consider making one on this, how to improve nutrient absorption etc?

    I eat carnivore and have lost 95 pounds . I have osteoarthritis in knees so can't walk but I do lift light weights. I also fast a cupple x a week.

    Thanks Dr Dhand - great video, as always! One practical issue though: I recently had my HbA1C tested (5.4%) but what I really wanted was fasting insulin. "We don't do that" - getting a fasting insulin test here in the UK from your GP seems almost impossible. Maybe you can if you are diabetic, but as I'm not their attitude was that even the HbA1C was a waste of time but as it had been several years since my last test they did it anyway. Apparently, you are "entitled" to a HbA1C test every two years (I think). The NHS wants us to take responsibility for our own health, and I can't disagree with that, but they are the gatekeepers to the tests for essential info such as fasting insulin and the gates are pretty much closed, unless you are actually ill. Without that info, you can't for example, calculate HOMA-IR.

    I lost 10 pounds just restricting my eating window. I read food labels . If the list is long not eating . Most days I do an hour walk at least ,preferably outside. I feel good . Thank you DR Dhand for all the information you give us .

    Been a carnivore for a year and doing interval training with heavy weights. I also had a NASM cert. for years. Still can't lose the 20 lbs. I need to offload. My body adapts to everything. I'm a 59-year-old female who hasn't touched carbs in years. I was keto for decades before going carnivore. I tend to gain weight when I intermittent fast with a 4-hour window, or even OMAD. I got to where I can drop and do 100+ push-ups, 20 one-arm pushups, max bench of 248, was bicep curling 35 lb. DBs. I got insanely strong, but just got thicker with added muscle under the extra fat. 10 years ago, the bigger the furnace, the higher the metabolism. Not anymore. At age 25, I was 110 lbs. I was always the fittest girl in the room.When I was really ripped in my 40s, I was 140 lbs. Now, I can't get under160 and my gorgeous ripped 6-pack abs now look more like a 4-pack with a fannie pack. Hormones, or lack thereof, are a b***. I don't see how a person can do more to lower their insulin. I'm the only one in my group of 4 close friends who doesn't have diabetes or any other chronic illness. I'm now trying 20 reps with slightly lower weights followed by a difficult core exercise followed by 1 minute of intense cardio for an hour, 6-days per week. I've heard it can take 2 years for your body to finally go into fat burning mode on carnivore. I'm tired of getting no results. Everything changed after I got severe Long Covid for several months. I'm not a quitter. I'll report back when something happens.

      Drop the intense cardio. Low and slow burns more fat in the long run. Intense cardio raises your cortisol levels and this will make fat loss very difficult. Also don't aim for a ripped 6 pack as this is only sustainable briefly even for the most dedicated body builder. A slim 4 pack is healthier. You are overexercising. Be more gentle with yourself.❤

      I feel for you. My body also adapts to everything, and I find maintaining my optimal or preferred weight much harder after menopause. Calorie reduction, and even IF, seems to signal to my body to go into starvation mode and store fat; which is probably a great survival benefit, but frustrating when I'm not actually starving. I also have an extra 10-15 pounds I'd like to shed (I'm on the shorter side). But there's one thing you said that is really significant: you're the only one in your friend group without chronic illness. This indicates to me that what you're doing to take care of your body is having a positive effect, even if not in the weight loss department. And isn't overall health the point of all this?
      I, too, am illness-free and very healthy (thank goodness). And I'm much older than you. I take that as a positive sign that I'm doing what's right for my body. I hope you can feel more positive about that aspect for yourself as well!

    I actually used Monjauro when I was pre-diabetic. I used the lowest dose and completely changed my diet while on it. I lost 45 lbs and no longer take it. My A1C is perfect now. I cut out all processed foods and sugar. I love sparkling water so I drink that all day. I also walk 2-5 miles a day which I struggled with before. I’m still losing weight slowly and can’t say I regret taking Monjauro. I will say I’m glad to be off because the risks scared me. I have other health issues and find it hard to do intermittent fasting.

    The problem with weight loss is that after just a week your body slows down your metabolism so while it only takes eating an extra 3500 calories to GAIN a pound of fat, you may have to cut 100x that many calories compared to current intake to LOSE a pound. Thankfully, you don't have this issue when it comes to 36-96h fasts. You burn 1/2 to one whole pound of fat for every day you fast and your metabolism does NOT go down in fat it goes UP for these short periods. You can also do this indefinitely with no metabolic slowdown! The many benefits of occasional extended fasting and lowering dietary carbs:
    Your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune cells in a 72h fast, rejuvenating your immune system. This helps with autoimmune disease, cancers and cytokine storm.
    Fasting reduces cortisol over time and improves your circadian rhythm.
    Fibrosis aka scarring is reversed over time, including in the heart, lungs and clots.
    Clotting and fibrin are inhibited, stopping any 'unusual' clots.
    Fasting quickly lowers blood pressure levels.
    The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting.
    Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of proteins, pathogens and plaques by macrophages and other immune bodies. This will remove spikes quicker, whether natural or unnatural in origin!
    Blood sugar and insulin are lowered when fasting, reducing inflammation and allowing the immune bodies to move freely through the body.
    T cells are cruciall in fighting cancer, autoimmune disease and infection. Tthymus generally stops making them with age but fasting releases stem cells, which then can become new T cells. It also releases growth hormone, which regenerates the thymus!
    Your brain prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when equally available to glucose. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns free fatty acids.
    Fasting increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors and increases average telomere length in stem cell pools.
    Reflexes and short term memory are increased.
    Fasts from 36-96 h increase metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release!.
    Fasting increases interferon, which shuts down the ability of viruses to replicate.
    Fasting does not reduce testosterone over time. It raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. It also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building. And removes fat, which also increases estrogen in men.
    Fasting activates autophagy (literally self eating). This recycles damaged proteins and foreign matter such as viruses.
    Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body.
    Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures.
    Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue!
    It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mtDNA. Mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention!
    24h of fasting reduces leptin levels by half! This reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function.
    Fasting restores NAD+, reduces NADH and increases nitric oxide release to open blood vessels.
    Over time fasting normalizes stomach acid levels and during the fast acid levels go down to allow for the healing of ulcers.
    Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system, just like the effect of CBD oil
    Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility for some women.
    Fasting increases telomere length, negating some effects of aging at a cellular level.
    Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood, creating new nerve and brain cell growth. This helps a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
    Fasting stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer.
    Glycine and trimethylglycine (TMG) can also be useful supplements while fasting that won't break ketosis and have many benefits.
    A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD has about 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and zero net carbs.
    What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast but most teas and herbs are OK. Supplements and meds usually break ketosis due to fillers or directly. Some of them also irritate the stomach. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting.
    Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. They also help with dementia and many other issues even if you take them while not fasting!
    Children, expecting or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors that excrete insulin or certain rare forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all or only with doctor supervision. T1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis and done under doctor supervision. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast with a low carb meal.

    Get off all the meds you can. The meds slow your metabolism down. I am old and dumped some meds and finally losing weight. Keeping essential meds (or essential for now). And don't eat anything out of a bag or box. Plus three years of vit D.

    I gave up bread, sugar and dairy I don’t snack or sip water all day. No food or drink after 6. With this alone I feel better and more balanced. I would like to know your opinion on probiotics, spore probiotics and the addition of green powder drink . I started eating sweet potato every day too.

    Having CKD I have been having 4 monthly blood tests and consultation with the renal department at my local hospital. A couple of sessions ago, it was suggested I should go on a low potassium diet, part of which meant cutting down on potatoes in any form. The result was, other than reducing the potassium, I have also lost a lot of the flab I gained as my physical activity lessened.

    At the moment I am alternating keto and carnivore. One day is mostly meat, the next is mostly eggs, avocado, cheese and bits of fattier meat. I limit carb intake as much as I can and eat once (or twice at most) per day. I get in 10-15 thousand steps daily and this approach works just fine. Everyone should get their body fat percentage measured so they know roughly their status and where they need to be. In the USA and UK, it is easy to lose sight of good health because of the environment we live it

    I gained a bunch of belly fat while on prednisone despite walking 5 miles a day. After discontinuing the drug, the fat stayed even though I continued exercising and restricted calories. I lost it through continued exercise and intermittent fasting; eating non-processed foods between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. If I got really hungry before 2 p.m., I would have some carrots and cottage cheese or hummus. I restrict carbs. My advice is to just keep at it and don't give up!

    I’ve been following a low carb diet with no snacking and occasionally fasting for 18 hours. I walk 2-3 miles a day and additionally I strength train twice a week. I haven’t lost any weight yet!
