    Why can’t we get a Jazzmaster with a rhythm circuit?

    • @gulapula
      @gulapula 2 месяца назад +23

      Fr, it’s two pots, a switch and some extra wires. At this point the cost of a decent fully featured guitar is so low that features are kept from lower cost models for the sake of giving the consumer a reason to buy a flagship model. Glad we finally have jazzmaster pickups on a fender jazzmaster under $1000, but at $900 it begs the question, why? Just save $200 and buy a vintera or a MIJ with more features and better options.

    • @monoclepigproductions
      @monoclepigproductions 2 месяца назад +19

      You can. Classic Vibe Squier, Vintera MIM, any of the MIJ models if you’re okay with importing (and really should be, MIJ is the best Fender factory regardless of price), the AVII.
      Tons of people want a streamlined Jazzmaster (look at how many taped-off rhythm circuits there are out there), this one is for them.

      @@gulapulathis Jazzmaster is clearly aimed at a different crowd of offset player than you or I. Beyond the lack of a rhythm circuit, it’s got a modern-C neck and 9.5” radius fingerboard, and it’s got the “modern” tremolo placement (prioritizing tuning stability over vintage appointments and doesn’t require heavy-gauge strings for stability).
      If someone wants a JM sound and comfortably body, but with modern playability and reliability, this is their model, and I’m willing to bet Fender’s internal research has determined that’s a good chunk of players.
      (I myself am somewhere in-between - I adore my MIJ Heritage JM because of its fat-backed 7.25” radius neck, traditional tremolo that balances well under my heavy-gauge strings, and the Lollar pickups I installed - but I had a custom-cut gold anodized pick guard made with no rhythm circuit because I rarely used it on purpose and, like sooooo many before me, kept accidentally hitting it live.)

      I feel you but honestly realistically speaking most people buying guitars in this price range DO NOT care for the rhythm circuit. It’s really fucking dumb how bastardized the RC is and it just looks weird without it.
      But yeah to keep costs low it’s smarter to gut it.

    I like the look of these - great new colours, a rosewood finger board and classic gear tuners! There are already plenty of fender options if you want a vintage style jazzmaster, so I think this one’s a valuable, modern addition at a more affordable price 😃

      @callumanderson7132 I think better affordable option is squier classicvibe jazzmaster without 22 fret.

      @@user-wuniii You’re right, I have one already. Love it , but only ever use the rhythm circuit as a kill switch 👍

    Here's the thing... The Player Jaguar had the original pickup in the neck and the splitting humbucker in the bridge. I wish there was a Player Jazzmaster that was the same, with the original Jazzmaster pickup we LOVE in the neck, but the more versatile splitting humbucker in the bridge. That would be perfection imo.

    Is this jazzmaster routed for the traditional wiring? Like, if I wanted to modify this at a later time to have the traditional wiring would it be easy?

    The only drawback is the lack of a rhythm circuit.
    It is recommended that if you want a circuit, you should buy MIJ, but many Japanese do not have a good image of basswood, in fact, what do users in other countries think about basswood?

    At this price without a rythm circuit you would be better off getting a sire j5 when it comes out, save 200 bucks and most likely get better build quality
