    Awesome build! As a DDG-51 class Destroyer sailor myself, I think you did a wonderful job for the scale. It was awesome watching you put on the HF whip antennas, TACAN, and Satellite antenna domes, all of which I worked on. You did a great job!

      Thanks very much! I'm glad that someone who knows this ship first-hand likes my model iteration! May i ask a question about modern warships please? What are those large off-white surfaces on the forward-facing main superstructure? some kind of wave receivers?

    I really enjoyed watching this build. I was stationed on Hopper and watching this build brought back a lot of memories. At 3:16, I spent a whole day needle gunning that exact antenna platform and repainted it. Oh, all the freshwater wash downs and sweeping off standing water. Doing DC maintenance on the fire stations on the O1 deck. I remember painting the hull in port while in Australia before heading back home to Pearl when we finished our deployment. She is a fantastic vessel and I miss being at sea with her. At 9:01 you attached the emergency HF whip antenna. It has a motor to electronically raise it, but our motor never worked while I was on her. That thing takes forever to raise by crank but its a good workout. Thankfully, it was only during PMS that we had to do it. At 9:39 you have attached the amidship counter measures. They were added when we returned from deployment in 2003 and went into dry dock. Added some nice shade when doing UNREP and standing quarterdeck watch. At 13:26, what you call rigging is actually HF fan wire antenna. Had to do maintenance on those too. Getting them down is way easier than getting them back up. Some people won't even go out on the yard arms to do it. Its pretty high up and if you're afraid of heights... forget it. Easiest way to remember Port from Starboard is... Port has 4 letters, so does Left. Starboard has more than 4 and so does right. Looking forward Port is on your left and Starboard is on your right. I believe you did the lady justice for such a small scale. I'm sure Amazing Grace would approve. In everything you attempt... Dare and Do. Thank you.

    Nice build Peter. 1/700 is such a small scale,I couldn't do it. Again the details you put into this kit was awesome. Your a real pro on those PE parts. Dont you mean "scheisse" in your comment?🤣. I dont think I spelled it correctly, but you know what I mean. It really cheered me up to watch your video. I really enjoy and look forward to seeing them. Again excellent build Peter. Have a great week and stay safe and healthy my friend. My very best to you and your family and friends. God bless. 👍👍🇦🇹🤝🇺🇸

      Hi Chris! Thanks, it was a fun and enjoyable build! Yes, this is exactly what i meant :D I mean, cutting right into a part at the very beginning, just because i wanted to do it on camera... was very annoying. All the best to your family and you too, stay safe and healthy!

    @14:33 the left side, in naval language, is ,port. The right side of the ship is called, starboard.

    VERY nice! Try spraying a medium coat of paint on some softer grade of cardboard. Then place the nameplate face down gently but firmly into the paint and carefully remove it. The raised letters on the nameplate should be perfectly covered.

    • @funinscale2892
      @funinscale2892  3 года назад

      Hi Lawrence! This sounds like a great idea! In this case, there was no nameplate included, but in the future, it would be faster than painting each letter individually!
