    I’m doing an Astro build myself and was hoping to see you do the walls soon! I’m blacking out the back widows and keeping the gull windows like you so I’m excited to see how the walls come out! Great build so far!

      Thanks Dakota!
      I’m not exactly sure when or even what wood I’ll be using to panel the walls. I’m hoping soonish, but I’m currently in limbo (my living situation) for the next two months, but I may be able to work on it.
      The gull wing door is awesome, however, be sure to use stronger material then the plexi.

    I wonder if you could adhere thinsulate to reflectix cutouts of windows, so you could have a better insulation that is removeable when you want to see out. I currently use reflectix which is good for blocking out sun and light, but not a great insulator

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  2 года назад

      I actually started to create window panels just like that a while ago, but the thinsulate is so thick and storing the window insulation proved to be an issue. I may end up figuring out a workaround, though

    • @MinutemanMedic
      @MinutemanMedic 2 года назад

      @@AutoMotivate Hmmm...maybe it needs to be a thinner thinsulate?

      @@MinutemanMedic that is what I am leaning towards. Ill be tackling the job after I install plywood walls and roof.

      @@AutoMotivate I saw a guy use some of the carpet he used for the ceiling on the reflectix and it seemed to work. Probably provides some level of insulation

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  2 года назад

      @@MinutemanMedic Reflectives give such a low insulation, in my opinion, it would not be enough for the windows, as they bring in a lot of varying temperature. They do work very well at bouncing off the sunlight, though

  • @AstroVanTribe

    Thank you.... Planning to use the same material in my van - Was considering strips of padded double stick tape instead of glue - Good job... PS: was one can of that foam enough?

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  3 года назад +1

      One thing to keep in mind with that tape idea: the thinsulate is made up of fibers that can tear fairly easy with force.
      Dabble with it when you finally do it, but I still think an adhesive to glue the entire panel is the best route.
      Depending how in-depth you go with the foam 2 cans would be fine. If you do just the upper cavities, I think one can should work.

    Let them judge you all they want.

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  2 года назад

      I do agree, there are a lot of bad people in this world. Sinful with zero regrets. However, there are a lot of people who make mistakes and wish to better themselves. So, it doesn't hurt to try your best to respect others(sometimes its very hard). Being disrespected is the worst that can happen and we can live with that. I get a lot of hate here on YT, but if i reply with respect I tend to turn a lot of those rude people around. I also recognize that there are a lot of people who are different due to their personal views and aren't accepted by the average person. Those people deserve appreciating and respect as well.

    how has the glue held up? would you to the 3M thinsulate again? was it worth it?

  • @grantallen5051

    Looks good! been following the build and pretty much at the same point in the build! Probably going to use the thinsulate but how many square ft of thinsulate did you need to complete the van?

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  3 года назад +2

      Thank you! I appreciate your support and I wish you luck on your build.
      I actually linked the exact dimensions I used in the description, I think it was 60’x20”.
      I will say, if you are going to insulate the entire van, and you don’t have windows, I would get a bit more.
      I’m actually using the leftover thinsulate as a part of my window insulation idea. For the amount I used, I have enough thinsulate for all the Windows besides the windshield.
      Something to think about

      @@AutoMotivate Has it been a money pit

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  3 года назад

      Ehh, I bought it knowing it needed work.
      $500 with a Broken window, highly neglected and infested with roaches and mold.
      So, a little becuase of that.
      Replaced the distributor, engine mounts, fuel pump, door handles, door lock actuators, front windshield, crankshaft sensor, and more.
      If you had a mechanic do that, then it would most definitely be a money pit.
      I’m sure if you find one taken care for, you won’t have nearly as many issues
