      Someone’s gotta keep these old cars running. New cars are too damn expensive!

    Thank you for this video, I have the same problem and I’m almost certain it’s the valve.

    In this video I can see you have the console vent position set to cold (blue) when pointing that digital thermo reader! Great video on how to change and check the heater valve though.

      Yes, I realized that afterwards but forgot to reshoot the video. Thanks for the comment.

    Nice one cheers, I am replacing the heater control valve on my E46 M3 so have the version with 2 solenoid pumps, same job and seeing the use of the c clamp was really genius as saves having to do a coolant flush and extra faff/mess.
    Cheers!

    great video.... does Heat control valve also responsible for cold air? ...from SOUTH AFRICA

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  Месяц назад +1

      No, it only controls the hot coolant going through the heater core.

    Do you need to bleed the coolant system after replacing the valve?

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  5 месяцев назад

      I lost very little coolant so I just drove the car and checked the reservoir and topped it up over the next few days. If you lose a lot of coolant you will need to bleed the air out.

    My value is not heating up does it mean it's bad?

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  9 месяцев назад +1

      It could be, but it also could be the signal is not getting to the valve to open. Did you check the fault codes?

    One of those 2 hoses that come through the valve is leaking. Do you have a DIY on replacing them?

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  9 месяцев назад

      No, I do not but just probably need to take off the hose clamps to remove it and then get a new one and refill with coolant.

    Which hose goes directly to the heater core? I’m trying to clamp it off to see if that resolves my warm AC issue

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  Месяц назад +1

      Sorry, I can’t remember which is in and which is out. Although if you clamp either one of them you stop flow through the core.

    I have constant 12v and ground at connector even with car off?

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  6 месяцев назад

      I don’t have the electrical schematics to say what the ignition off default should be but it sounds like you have a short in your 12v feed somewhere.

  • @rainydays383

    Would. That cause smoke to come out the blowers or do u think that’s blower motor gone

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  День назад

      No, the valve wouldn’t cause that. Does it smell like electric fire?

    What hose is the that was on top of the actuator that you moved? ( you mentioned its a vaccum hose) where is that connects too? Pls help.

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  9 месяцев назад +1

      If I recall that's the hose that goes to the purge valve which is attached under the right side of the intake. The other end connects to a hard line that goes back to the charcoal canister.

      I see. For some reason mine is off and Been tryna figure out where it connects. Since i saw your video and saw it you moved it. Gabe me an idea.

    Can this cause pressure to blow the expansion hose

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  9 месяцев назад

      No, that might be a blockage in your expansion tank causing it to not vent properly.

  • @jebohim

    Did You solve the problem with temperature diffrence in vents?

    • @JRsGarage
      @JRsGarage  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes. The refrigerant was low.
