So glad to see you both. I enjoyed your flosstube, as I always do. Both of your vacations sounded amazing. If you remember me, Maryland is my home. Whenever you talk about being there I get a little homesick. My grandfather, my dad and his brother all made there living as Maryland Watermen. Fishing, clamming, oystering, amd of course Carolyn, catching the famously popular blue crabs. The crab feasts you spoke of are a part of my childhood and several of my nieces and nephews have worked in the seafood restaurants in the Kent narrows area. I also spent summer time get aways at the Delaware and Maryland beaches. I'm retired now from 47 years in the medical field for which I received my schooling in the DC area. It still strikes me as amazing that two ladies in Northern California have connections to my homeland. Enough of all that, back to your video. Loved all the stitchings and sweet photos from your vacations. The enthusiasm you both exude is so refreshing. Looking forward to the next one and also to hear about your decisions on your stitch it or ditch it episode. Until next time, ❤ya, Donna
Hi Donna! I enjoy when you share your Kent Island family history - we definitely have some things in common! I remember doing a report on the life cycle of the Blue Crab - haha! Here's to the Chesapeake Bay, and Happy Crafting! -Anna
Simply perfection spending time with you both. Loved all of your projects. Carolyn, your granddaughters are so sweet. I celebrate teachers and your joy in seeing your students again.
Isn't that lineup of grandgirls beautiful?! Thanks for celebrating the start of school with us. I'm off on a big hiking field trip tomorrow. It's so fun to be out in nature with the sixth graders! Happy Crafting, Sarah. -Anna
Wow, so many fun things, ladies! Anna, your quilt turned out so lovely, as is the blanket you are knitting. Love the little baubles on it. And how fun that Carolyn is starting the A Peacock, a Badger, and a Unicorn! I’ve seen so many people stitching this lately. It looks intense, but at the same time rewarding and relaxing when you are just filling in. Sounds like you guys had a great end of summer. May the new school year be lots of fun.
I was just visiting that grandgirl today. Even did a little knitting while she slept. :) I'm captivated by all the starts of A Peacock, A Unicorn, and A Badger and am looking forward to getting a close-up view of Carolyn's. Just saw your post about your pieces getting framed - wow, all so beautiful. Happy Crafting, Michelle. -Anna
Prob tons to say about stitching, but just love to see your enthusiasm and love of teaching USAs most valuable resource. Didn’t want to miss commenting. 🙏.
OMG! I laughed when you showed the pop tarts. I recently found them again and it’s the frosted strawberry. Both of you ladies have such beautiful stitching pieces, knitting, and sewing. You inspire me. Thank you for filming.
Chocolate fudge or brown sugar cinnamon Poptarts…yum! I tend to forget they are in the cabinet and suddenly one morning there they are. I download audiobooks from the library and listen to them when I’m on the road for extended periods of time. The Bluetooth and heated seats are my favorite things about my new car.
With the Christmas tree project I might be a bit different and wonder about inserting some asymmetric element…two slightly different sized birds or snowflakes for example. It is great to hear you are both so happy to be back at school…kids need teachers who love being there. I agree..full coverage we need to think about a blending background when we do one over one.
I can visualize some asymmetrical additions to that piece. Thanks for the idea. Teaching is the only job I've ever had - it's endlessly interesting for me. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Caroline, your sister with the 40 year old cross stitch laughs just like you. Bummer about your outfits because you really each wear them well. Don't you wish our favorite things could last forever? 😊Yay for getting the clips and board ladies. Caroline, I think that tree stitch from Kathy Barrick needs a little something but not a date. Some little motif would be perfect in my opinion. Yes, Anna, it would be so fun to sit around and feel the yarn and talk colors and patterns to our heart's content. Every time I'm lucky enough to make it to the States I always buy brown sugar cinnamon Poptarts. They are my absolute favorite and we cannot get them here in Quebec. Hmmmmmmm.
Can't wait to see what Carolyn chooses to put on that piece - I really can't predict! So glad we stitchers have Instagram and FlossTube as ways to connect, if we can't all sit together in person. Happy Crafting, Alison! -Anna
Love seeing all of your projects! Especially the ones by Kathy Barrick as I am taking a class with her in less than a month. So fun to see so many crafters in your family! You are so lucky to have each other.
@@we.are.curiouscrafters she is one of the teachers at the Hobby House Primitive Primer retreat. I don’t know what her class will be. I also have a class with Maggie Bonanami and Sumner House Stitchworks.
Personal opinion about the Kathy Barrick Christmas tree piece…..no date, no snowflakes….yes to leave it blank or two birds. Birds repeat something already there. Snowflakes would add another element and just two of the same size would detract from the beauty of the tree and its shape. Gorgeous work, Caroline.
I can’t express how much I enjoy your videos. You both are so mindful in your crafting and expressing why you choose the items you work on. I just love that! Now, the K. Barrick Christmas tree thoughts. What about using some type of crown in the blank spaces (if I recall you have that Sampler book which would have some designs), I also like Anna’s suggestion of initials, and lastly I’ve seen people use their birth year but put in 18 instead of 19. For example instead of 1973 you would put in 1873. Happy crafting!

A great selection of creative endeavors! You make me want to do all the (my) things. For now it's cross stitching and Crow No. 5. It must have been a Pop Tart summer because I ate a box of brown sugar cinnamon, the first in years. Happy Long Weekend!
Always great to catch up with you both! I vote for adding a date with that bronzey brown - I'm a big fan of negative space generally but it does need something, and bringing that lighter brown up in the top half will integrate it into the design a bit more. Side note - oh dear, am I that judgy??? Admittedly not necessarily my palette (I loathe orange, it's because of the hair), but it goes, and it works for you, therefore eyes not averted! Definitely keep going.
I'm curious to see what Carolyn decides for Merry Christmas Wishes - I can't predict! And no, not judge-y. Rather, expert-y! The collections of color you put together give me goosebumps! The combination I have presently is making me smile. And also making we wonder. Carolyn and I were thinking about you as you adventured to The Attic. So glad you taught a class - lucky, lucky participants. Happy Crafting, Katie! -Anna
Thank you for another fun video. So many things connected with me while watching, but I’ll comment on just a few. I love the idea of a community scarf… perhaps the current 6th graders could knit it with good thoughts for the current 5th graders…once established, each year would have a scarf-respite. Also, can’t agree more with Anna - how great to be around other makers! And especially touching they are in your family! And I love to hear about your families and how much you value them. ❤ Good luck with the school year! (I attended my last back to school night tonight-it’s bittersweet)
Yeah, I think that scarf idea (or something like it) could get some traction. I sort of miss going to Back-to-School Night! Anna could you take in the side seams of your skirt? Highly recommend Bolt fabric in Portland, OR. You won't be disappointed. My wish is that all children could have a teacher like both of you.
It would be possible to take in the side seams, but it would be a test in patience because of the way the skirt is lined. I may try some tucks in the back waistline... Just peeked at Bolt's website - looks FABULOUS. I appreciate that they show some of the apparel fabric draped on a form. Sherry thank you for you kind comment about teaching - it means a lot to us. I subscribed to you but don't think I have every watched you before I enjoyed, even thought we stitch differently and I do not knit However, there was a time in my life where I made all my own clothes and my daughters before she started school (she just turned 46) I also live in Northern California (Vacaville) and about 3 weeks ago went to Needle in a Haystack with 4 of the ladies I stitch with. Do you go to any meet ups for stitching? I'm original from Ohio and go back yearly (although I did not go last year or this year) Like you, there are things I look forward to: sparklers in the back yard for 4th of July, the best cream sticks ever, Antique stores, lighting bugs and going to visit my parents gravesite.
Well, welcome Sandi! Do you still sew at all? Carolyn and I have never gone to a stitchers meet up - they sure sound fun. Really enjoyed reading your Ohio list. Happy Crafting! -Anna

@@we.are.curiouscrafters Hi Anna! I’m a new cross-stitcher and have only been following her for a few months. Hoping to get one of her next kits - Plum Street this happy morning. Her colors are gorgeous and she shares so much…as do you two😊
Leave as is, no year, maybe add your initials. Nice marking sampler & great project bag. 😁Make a floss drops out of the front of the Pop-Tarts boxes. Cute dresses.
@@we.are.curiouscrafters We (hubby & I) eat a lot of pop-tarts here. 2nd idea is to make a project bag zipper tag for those fully fabric bags vs vinyl front ones, write in pencil on the back which WIP is inside. 😃
I've loved pop tarts as long as I can remember. I went to buy some a while ago, but do they not make non-frosted part tarts anymore? My childhood favorites were always blueberry (non frosted).
Carolyn and I use a no rinse soap to wash our knits - it's called "Eucalan Delicate Wash". Be extra careful not to stretch your piece while lifting it out of the water. We then air dry our knits on foam blocks sold for blocking purposes (they look like puzzle pieces). Most patterns have measurements for the finished piece, so as I'm laying out the knitted piece on the foam, I shape the dimensions to match the intended finished size. Happy Crafting, Debra! -Anna

Welcome! Carolyn and I started the catwalk on a whim. I think everyone should try it! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Oh geez, I did not need to know that AVFKW was dying embroidery floss. 😮 There goes my budget.
I know! I have looked at the website a half dozen times. No order yet, but one's coming... -Anna
Happy Crafting! -Anna
-Anna
Just found your channel and love your rapport, breadth of interests, and the level of detail you share. I also love Legacy linen (and Katie Strachan) so found the info on their dyeing process fascinating. Can’t wait to see your progress on the Unicorn BAP…if I ever do it, I will use a dark colored linen🥴
Welcome, Connie, and thanks for your kind words! Have you tried one of Katie's kits? Carolyn has been camping, and I keep wondering if she started her BAP before she left - can't wait for her to get going on that piece. Happy Crafting! -Anna
@@we.are.curiouscrafters Hi Anna! I’m a new cross-stitcher and have only been following her for a few months. Hoping to get one of her next kits - Plum Street this happy morning. Her colors are gorgeous and she shares so much…as do you two😊
@@connieenevold1745 Every time I receive a sleeve of curated silks from Katie I am captivated by the beauty. -A
Leave as is, no year, maybe add your initials. Nice marking sampler & great project bag. 😁Make a floss drops out of the front of the Pop-Tarts boxes. Cute dresses.
Laughed out loud when I read your floss drops idea - so great, Dee! Happy Crafting! -Anna
@@we.are.curiouscrafters We (hubby & I) eat a lot of pop-tarts here. 2nd idea is to make a project bag zipper tag for those fully fabric bags vs vinyl front ones, write in pencil on the back which WIP is inside. 😃

My vote for what it's worth: leave it as is.
Thanks for your vote, Angela! I like Carolyn's piece "as is" too. Happy Crafting! -Anna
I've loved pop tarts as long as I can remember. I went to buy some a while ago, but do they not make non-frosted part tarts anymore? My childhood favorites were always blueberry (non frosted).
I've been able to find unfrosted blueberry but not unfrosted strawberry. I wonder if availability is regional... -Anna
I would love to hear what you use to wash how and how you block your knitting. I am new to knitting and have not done that yet.
-Anna
@@we.are.curiouscrafters Thank you so much for the info!! I absolutely love your videos. I am smiling the whole way through!! I feel as though the 2 of you have given me hugs.
You're welcome! Hugs to you :) -Anna
I think some cardinals who be beautiful
Ooooh. New idea! Thanks, Peggy, and Happy Crafting! -Anna
I would put a date.
Carolyn is leaning towards either 2023 or two stars - we'll see! -Anna
@@we.are.curiouscrafters either will be great!
Please the name again of the designer for your sweater Carolyn? Can’t seem to spell?? Gorgeous. Looks similar to one wore out in a cotton blend in a pale yellow.
Found it- I found you on Ravelry!😂
:)
Nothing is worse than when you spend hours making something and you never see it again with the one you made it for......
Lots of wondering, when a handmade item is not seen again! Happy Crafting, Hanna! -Anna
