I've experienced the cam sensor problems when I bought the car second hand. It's come to the point where sometimes it won't start. If you remove it and wipe the oil off it insert it back, plug in and turn it clockwise so it advances the timing. Then it should start. Return the sensor to the original position and tighten the bolt. This is to get you out of those situations where it just won't start. Clean oil is a must too as the sensor is magnetic. And dirty oil will cause issues. I also have a OBD bluetooth which comes in handy to help clear codes.
on t30 xtrail if any of cam/crank sensors fail, just disconnect it and keep starter turning about 25-30 seconds... car will start and run on default mode, with low power and bad fuel efficiency but you will drive to destination : ))))
I have a 2006 GT model engine bay is very different with a huge intercooler, we were lucky many imported in my country. It only has auto and 4wd lock i guess the 276HP need a lot of traction, great car and excellent offroad I have BF Goodrich A/T 225/70/16
Hello nice video. I have an Xtrail T30 QR20 year 2004. After driving one day in a natural park with a lot of sand in Africa the car started with a vibration. This vibration occurs in D and R when I am stopped with my foot on brake. For example, when I am at a traffic light with the gear in D and the foot on the brake the vibration moves everything, however, when the car starts to move the vibration disappears. I have already changed engine mounts, fuel filter, spark plugs, transmission oil. But the vibration continues, according to your experience what do you think could be the problem? Thanks for your comments
Happened to see your comment, my issue could be different but just incase: I had a vibration/rattle noise while stationary in D or R on my qr20 aswell. Eventually noticed the alternator pulley was seized and causing the serpentine belt to flap creating the sound/vibration magnified by the belt tensioner. Remove your serpentine belt and run your car to listen for the noise in D/R. If no noise, one or both of the pulleys are your problem. Warning, don't drive without the belt or you'll overheat the engine. It's safe for troubleshooting but keep an eye on coolant temp with belt removed.
Hi Marvin. I asked this on another video of yours, so sorry for repeating myself, but this video popped after I asked the question. I love the T30 X-Trail myself, I briefly owned a 2005 model (as < 1 day) before the it blew the engine. Obviously it was sold to me dodgy...got my money back from the dealer for that one. How do you prevent the notorious head issue occurring in the first place? My understanding is it's caused by sand castings coming loose and blocking the rad. I'd love to own one again, especially as it has a torque converter auto instead the CVT introduced in the T31, but I'm afraid of having expensive repairs with the head issue.
By the way do these cars have an issue with front catalytic converter cause my sister have 2002 2.5 liter engine Like Altima 2006 when it’s broken and sucked into engine and damage it ?
It's just above the water pump which is on the rear of the engine somewhere above the transmission bell housing. A quick google will show you. I haven't needed to replace mine.
Great explanation and guidance on good maintenance practices Marvin. Even though this video applies to the X-Trail it can be used on other vehicles too... Well done 👍👍👍
Cheers mate👋I see you no your stuff Cool.. can I use castrol Edge 5w-30 to top up I'm going to flush engine which has sludge wea I put oil in the top cheers for your time mate👍
No worries. If your just topping up, you need to match exactly what the existing oil is. Don't mix oil. If you're not sure what's in it, you're better off to change it all.
Apart from full maintenance, fluids, spark plugs and filters, do the O2 sensors, cam and crank sensors and use a really good injector cleaner. If it has high kms, get the injectors replaced although they may be expensive.
Greetings Sir, Myself Sharat from India Hyderabad, Recently my dad gifted me this Used car. Which is a 2008 Nissan Xtrail and it is a DCI 2.2 Engine. It's my first car and a 4WD. I'm enjoying it but Spares are kinda hard to find them in India but still managing. My question is, The maintenance process you have shown in the video is it same for the Indian Version?
Hey mate, just watched your video from 2 years ago about rear seat removal and saw the child seat. Just wondering if you have a child seat install video if you still have it in there? Just wondering how well it fits
Hey mate no I don't have the child seat anymore and don't have a video. It fits nicely but also depends on the child seat I suppose. I just used the 3 point seat belt.
replacing the rear tail shaft is rather expensive as the whole shaft has to be done non replaceable universals, 2006model manual, tail shaft and a replacement radiator due to the plastic cracking a weak point, and the module for the blower all the repairs done to date,240.00klms, would not change it had 2004 prior but did not survive a mishap with a clown who cut through traffic , enjoyed your videos
Hey mate just getting into 4WDing with my T30. I have a clunking sound on rear suspension when driving over small undulations on the road, with a 1-2mm play top to bottom on the rear wheel, struggling to get a proper diagnosis. Long shot i know, RAC found wheel bearing is fine, same for all CV and lower suspension arms + bushes. Have you seen this, or Any ideas what else to check?
Sounds like either bush or wheel bearing but as you say they are fine. Retorque all bolts under there maybe. Take wheel out and double check bushes etc.
Okay guys so I'm here for advice or so... Alright usually when I'm driving the car would go up to a good 2.5km and then the engine would just shut off Just wanna know what's causing that to happen I've been to multiple mechanics and they can't diagnose the problem
I have the 2005 model. I am currently having problem of low water levels in the radiator. I had my mechanic check it but no leakage has been identified. It’s still happening. I have to top the radiator water level after every 3km.
This video is bull$#@t. Did you see how he just grabbed a 10mm socket without any issues? He didn't rummage around for ages, then make a trip to Autobarn? Yeah that's sus man. No way you'd have a 10mm on hand!

@@mr.bk_mrbk very nice tip! It's easier to repair at the destination, after a good shower and night 👍
Straight up like for the hose trick, love those little tips
Great video! Waiting for part 2.
Excellent video. Your instructions are easy to follow and in ordinary language so anyone can understand. Stay Rugged Marvin! Cheers!
Cheers mate 🙏
Very imformative video, cheers mate! Looking forward for more maintenance videos about X-Trails. ✌🏼
Very clearly xplained helpfully thank you
12:20 Gem !! I was always struggling with this doing this by hand ( back :).

Very nice video! Loved it!
The extra O2 sensor was added form 2006 onwards. The same time when the QR lost 10kw.
Cheers mate and thanks for that info 👍

Excellent video mate, i have a T31, it starts but no power above 80km/h or ravs over 3000. Is it a cam or crank shaft sensor issue?
I don't think so. Normally, you'll habe issues starting it up. So is it completely normal below 3000 rpm or under 80kph?
Blocked cat?
By the way do these cars have an issue with front catalytic converter cause my sister have 2002 2.5 liter engine Like Altima 2006 when it’s broken and sucked into engine and damage it ?
Nicely done. Good luck with your channel.

Hi ...any advice regarding coolant temperature sensors...where is located on a 2007 t30 petrol..have you replaced one ?? TIA...Great videos btw

Hi great job but where is part 2 , I didn’t find it in your video list😢
Still to come 😂 Keep an eye. Hope to make it soon I hope 🤞
Nice explanation! Wondering if there also is a link to part 2 of the video?
Cheers. Not yet but will definitely come.
Love your work 👍
Hey mate, I just got a T31 CVT, with the 2.5L and it is THIRSTY. I am 90% highway KMs, and I am getting 9.5-10L/100Km. Any suggestions?

Hi, thanks for your videos. I have to change the cam and crank shaft sensors of my T30. Would you know if they are exactly the same part number?
No worries. Yes they are.
How much to replace the clutch on Nissan extrail.. I have quotes for my car to get fixed by Friday afternoon. I'm going to cost $800

Hey mate. The maintenance process I've shown is for a petrol engine. Yours is a diesel so no they are not the same.
Hello mate love your vids and keep up the good work! When in lock mode does the t30 split the power to 50/50?
Cheers! Yes it's pretty much 50/50

Hey, great video. Are your 235 wide tires rubbing when steering maximum?
Cheers. Yea 235. Minimal rubbing

I wished I've seen this last week I had to pay $560 to get camshaft sensor and spark plugs fix thru mechanic 🤦
Hows is the Xtrail T30 with QR20 engine ?
Ооо спасибо за информацию! Like
Do not have a Nissan. Here to support 😅

Check bump stop on shock?
Is there a part 2 for this?
Still in the making 😀
Does anyone have a xtrail that when driving at low kms it sounds like a dragging sound until you get up in ks it goes away
Okay guys so I'm here for advice or so... Alright usually when I'm driving the car would go up to a good 2.5km and then the engine would just shut off

That's a lot of leak if you have to top up every 3kms. Is your engine oil not contaminated? Get another mechanic to check it.
I have the exact same issue right now! Going to get serviced in a couple days I'll have to tell them about it
@@ruggedlife The oil gets milky on the dipstick
Any plans for part 2 😃?
Absolutely, when I get to it 😂
Do you use an air compressor to blow air?
Yes. With air tank
god pm po normal lng b sa x trail n mag lagite pag tomatangbo pag inaapakan mu yung silinyador sna matoruan niyu po ako maraming salamat po
thanks a lot!
just use coil instead of pipe ☺
I like the hard way 😂
Getting it off yea but threading the spark plug back in might not work with the coil actually
@@ruggedlife 👍 i always use coil after my spark plug socket lost rubber :D
