You better change the timing belt that is an interference engine and would be catastrophic if it broke. And replace the lower ball joints. They are known to give and if you're driving when they give the truck would hit the ground
If you don't live in a salt belt and very minimal off-road the ball joints will run a long long time... (funny thing they always recommend OEM lower ball joints on forums for replacement, because all others fail premature; so what's on the truck? OEM ball joints lol the timing belt shouldn't go over 10 years or 100k in my opinion.... cheap insurance!!! And the radiators are a critical part to change out when necessary!! I actually might change out my radiator every timing belt change.... 😉 makes sense in my head.... lol
@@lanceguinn9807 you could just swap out the radiator and get an aluminum one that'll last 10 times longer, because doing a radiator job as you do a timing belt job, it's going to be pretty expensive
Awesome truck. I just went down to your neck of the woods to buy an 07 tundra used. I love it. I bought it from a dealer and soon as I got it home it started to throw codes. Thank GOD I can fix them. I am waiting for the parts now. Awesome American-made truck. Mine was made in Texas I think. Thank you for the encouragement with my tundra and GOD bless you and your brother.
Great verse and a good reminder that we shouldn't "Cancel" each other over grievances but give each other the benefit of the doubt and grace as the Lord gives to us. We have to remember that the Lord is the one who does the judging based on what is in ones heart.
Great videos! Had the same issue with the gas door lock. My quick easy fix was to stack a couple beer-bottle-cap-sized magnets in the corner of the door under the lock. Works great and keeps the door from swinging open.
Great review. I just picked one up. I believe the emissions code you have could be from one of the two main emission issues with this gen. 1. The evap canister. Not an immediate issue. 2. Secondary emission air pump, this one is an expensive fix. It’s to heat up the converter and reduce emissions. Bypass kits are sold to eliminate this pump entirely. God bless you. Hope this helps.
I could be wrong but, I heard somewhere that the SAIS pump is just on the 2005 and 2006. Yes, it is an expensive fix. I just had mine replaced last week.
@@store8294 you can look for Greese spilling out the boot or dirt accumulating meaning a slight tear and sand and dirt sticking to it. Also if they have never been replaced it’s better to just replace them and have that peace of mind and be in a schedule to replace next time. If you really want to get into it you can take everything apart and inspect then but if your going to do all that you might as well replace them. Moral of the story replace them lol 👍🏻 hope it helps
Use Toyota ball joints. Don’t use aftermarket. You’ll have to replace aftermarket ball joints in a about a year. They won’t last. Signs your ball joints are bad you’ll hear squeaking in the front end at low speeds.
Used prices are insane. I usually don't buy new cars, if I want something new I'll look for something with like 5-10k miles cause having those miles instantly lowers the price. But the way the markets been lately, I actually just bought a brand new truck. It was like 2k more for a new one.
Isn't that weird how the algorythm works? It must've known I did the 3 year update and calculated it would get more views if It recommended the 2 year first??
Bro, I had the same thing happen to me with my first car which was also a Toyota. I've only ever figured it out 2 months in after owning it since spring that year.
no all of them are cigarette lighter ports, only 1, and it is the shielded one that has some ceramic in it to handle the heat, the rest are normal 12V, usb wasnt around back in 2000
Ummmm, I’m pretty sure I (Isaac and Tucker’s Dad) was the one who said a few times “maybe we should go look at the Tundra up in the Poconos? It looks pretty good!” They finally agreed! Just sayin’! :-)
What is the model of your sound system?? I have a 2001 tundra TRD limited that I purchased new and it only has 70K miles. Sound system need an update. Also like your inclusion of the bible verse at the end.
Great video, In your brother's defense. I rented a Mazda CX-9 yesterday and I was driving and didn't know that I had to push the AC button to get cold air out of the system. In my 2016 Yukon the climate system is automatic control so you don't have to worry about it. You just set it and forget it. You should put him in more of your videos. Psalm 122:1
Hey great video Mike. I have 2000 Tundra also and I was wondering if you’d found out where the starter was located. Mines went bad recently I’ve read that it was under the intake manifold. I have to fix it soon any info would help thanks👍
it is under the intake manifold, its a bit of a big job, replace it with a genuine Toyota starter, other wise you will need to tear it down again soon.
If people would Register there tundra with Toyota and get the re call issues done you won't have to worry about rusty frame and lower ball joint breakingduh
Another thing you don't have three cigarette lighters you have one the main one a cigarette lighter will not work in the other two they are strictly 12-volt plug-ins and are for Chargers or accessories
Jack the truck until the wheel/tire is clear of the ground then stick a pry bar (or even a shovel) under the tire and move it up and down. If you hear a clicking sound or if you can see movement in the joint you know it's time. Catastrophic failure can occur without warning though, so many people just replace the LBJs at around 100k. It isn't terribly difficult but definitely use OEM Toyota parts.
Maybe you didn't get such a good deal considering considering $800 for the radiator plus all your things that broke like the gas door and the ignition which the ignition isn't broke or whatever and the key does come out you just have to do it right I had the same problem with my truck you have to do it in a swift maneuver otherwise it can get stuck every now and then I paid 65 for my truck I didn't have to do anything to it for several years nothing broke the only thing I had to do eventually after six years was a new radiator which I need a new coolant and stuff anyways as well as a new thermostat and belt and couple ignition coils that's it got it with 189k now has 285k.
Why is it insane of me to share my faith in a video I created? if you made a video, no matter what topic you discussed from LBTQ to athiesm or Judism, I'd listen.
Thank you for your honesty. You didn’t have to reply, but I really appreciate it, that shows integrity. If someone who claimed to be a Christian or maybe a group of people really hurt you in the past, I am sorry, I would be bitter too. But that is not who Jesus is, I try my best to be a real example of what a Christian should be, but it’s an uphill battle because so many ‘Christians’ have just blazed a trail of hurt and destruction in others lives. I don’t want people to accept Jesus to check a box, I want people to see their need for a savior and accept him willingly! I never want to force my faith on people, because that’s not what Jesus did.
@@AlphaShark That’s a lot but you do you I’m more of a Richard Dawkins fan anyways or at least I naturally relate to his beliefs and don’t really think about the past that much and live for now and am fine about nothingness when I’m dead and buried
Interesting! I’ve seen quite a bit of Richard Dawkins material. So why react when the Lord is brought up? I guess I just figured there must be some history there. Or else you’d just think “well this person has this belief and I have mine” is it like a frustration at what you perceive to be naïveté on the part of people who ascribe to a higher being? (I genuinely am curious! I always love getting to know where people stand, if you’d like to dialogue)

I second the sentiment above. Check to see if the ball joints have been replaced and do that timing belt.

Good to see more Tundra content. Love my 03. And damn you and your brother are hot AF. Y’all got the good genes haha
I'll admit, you had me in the first half.
I also own a 2000 black, mine is dinged up a lot but I still get 5kplus offers regularly on it. 218k miles 0 problems.
FYI people do not tow until you turn your overdrive off
Don't feel bad. I was 25 when I figured out the A/C button.
That check engine light you will probably just need a new gas cap. I’m 99 percent sure that’s the problem.
I second the motion. I own a 03 tundra with 235k miles. This happened to me and i just replaced the gas cap. Problem solved.
That’s a steal for the price no matter how you look at it. That’s at least a 10k truck or more now.

Double check your sway bar end links. They wear out and break (mine ripped axle boot when it broke). Not dangerous but also easy to replace.
Should have tried a little powdered graphite in ignition barrel to lubricate it before replacing it
Found this video then i went on ur channel and the newest video is about the same truck!

On the edge about buying one with 340k from 2nd owner who's had it 16 years plus many maintenance records. What do y'all think? It's 5k.
Do it

I so regret selling my 1st gen tundra. 😢
Had a 2006 tundra and the gas door broke. Got lucky and found on on ebay
I had a magnet on my tundra gas door to keep it shut.

Does anybody know what kind of side steps / nerf bars are on this Tundra?
7:03 slam tailgates much??
How do you know if you need lower ball joints replaced? Any signs i should look out for ? I have a 2002 toyota tundra sr5
