Jeonghan who outwits everyone (group and staff included) and can cheat his way out of a concrete box like this is HIM vs svt I love it + also the sprinkling of entertainment factor theyre throwing in to make the ep interesting (like purposefully being distrustful and coy)

    I haven't seen anyone recommend it here but I think Bungee Jump episodes (37,38) would be great to see how much members know each other and discover the way they think individually. The going seventeen episodes usually show how they betray each other (for the show, of course) so the hearthwarming ending of ep 38 has a special place in my hearth.

    One of the major strengths Jeonghan has, he knows what works with each member..
    He knows he can easily persuade Mingyu, S. Coups and Hoshi with a bit of confidence, he knows a bit fear works with Seungkwan, a bit of gentle coercing works with jun, the8 & DK, intellectual explanation and being on backfoot with wonwoo, woozi, vernon
    And he has a habit of only doing minimum that would get him maximum success... He does not waste energy persuading everyone..

  • @sjsvt_elfcarat

    Your observation is on point! DK is indeed not as skeptical as the other members. He tends to trust others easily. That's why the boys are quite concerned about him. Since they believed that he'd get scammed easily. That's because they even said that DK is the kindest person they know next to God. ❤ Aside from that, DK sees the goodness in everyone. What you said about everyone loving WOOZI is SOO TRUE. In one of their going seventeen 2020 episodes- 'SeungKwan Boo's Past Life Destiny #2' (ep 6) from 8:10 onwards, the members have to turn around and people who want to partner up with them will come and sit behind them. Woozi was the only where all the members lined up 😭😭😭

    • @kellypope9682
      @kellypope9682 2 года назад +14

      If I recalled that was planned not due to them really wanting to partner Woozi. Although I do feel everyone respects Woozi. I think ultimate respect from everyone is to Jeonghan. He is smart and very good at judging everyone but he is also very caring to his members behind closed doors. Many members mentioned this. That is why he is loved and so respected in the team. The one person Jeonghan kind of scared… maybe not scared but revered is Woozi.

  • @shineecarat7523

    Jeonghan is a master at mind games like this because he is so in tune emotionally with his members. He knows how each responds to certain approaches. He can use this power for evil like games but it also shows just how much he cares and interacts with each member. Every member adores him because he pays attention to them, asking about their problems and communicates on a intimate level. Don’t think he’s truly “evil" or anything, he plays “Seventeen’s Loki” purely to make the show fun and entertaining. The guys themselves have said Jeonghan loves Seventeen so much,to the point of saying they are his everything.

  • @jadev164
    @jadev164 2 года назад +450

    Seventeen are great entertainers because they're super witty and just bounce off of each other so well, always building upon the previous member's comment or joke. And they indeed have an element of self-deprecation in their humor as they don't take themselves too seriously. They will laugh at their idol image, cringe at their own bad jokes and openly tease the show's producers for writing an cringy script or planning a boring game.
    Another Going Seventeen episode I'd recommend to see their group dynamics and personalities is "Bungee Jump". They play games where they have to predict a member's words or actions. If they succeed, the member will have to bungee jump. It's a great show of how well they know each other and it's interesting seeing their tactics to induce the chosen word/action.

    Jeonghan is usually fairly quiet when it comes to interviews but when its a game, watch out. This guy is ruthless and very witty, especially when it comes to mind games, he can talk his way out of anything. It's also become sort of a running gag where he'd just cheat at any game and he's so good at it that oftentimes it goes unnoticed by the members and even the staff until it reaches the editing room.

    Max, just want to let you know that there is a second episode to One Million! After they revealed the amount that was given/taken away from Jeonghan, the dynamic between the members among themselves and them VS Jeonghan starts to change and I'm interested to hear your comparisons between them here and in the next episode!

  • @yamin4007
    @yamin4007 2 года назад +57

    I watched this Going arc two times: first as a non-fan and then as a Carat about a year later or so, and after getting more familiarized with the overall team dynamics and the relationships they have individually, my respect for Jeonghan went up by loads. His tone changes minutely for every member and I think this is more noticeable in Korean. For example, for Jun, who was the most visibly flustered within the members, Jeonghan's tone softened by so much. Because JH's one of the oldest members of the group, he usually uses the first-person pronoun "Na" or forgoes it. But once he notices how intimidated Jun is, he switches to the much friendlier and warmer "Hyung" instead and takes on a gentler tone. "Hyung" is usually used as a suffix when younger guys refer to older guys but also when older guys refer to themselves in front of younger guys- it makes for a much more welcoming and almost intimate atmosphere.
    I'd also recommend the TTT episodes (2019, 2020, 2021) because the premise is basically the members on an excursion so they let their guards down more compared to the other more scripted episodes. The Don't Lie series is hilarious and considered one of the breakthroughs of GoSe too! The Insomnia Zero series is also a go-to classic if you're looking to get to know the members better- I've probably watched the first season twenty times or so just because of how easy it is. Last one! The members (and the GoSe staff LOL albeit in a self-deprecating way) consider the Carnival episode their "failed" episode- once you watch it, it becomes clear enough why- but as a Carat, it's a guilty pleasure of mine; definitely a go-to if you want the members' reaction to funnily embarrassing and flustering situations.
    I'm extra glad you're getting into Seventeen- they're definitely one of the most interesting groups out there. Enjoyed your reaction as always! And I hope you can also check out the second part of One Million Won too- it kept me on the edge of my seat :))))

    The8 is called The8 because he is chinese and in chinese culture the number 8 is believed to be the luckiest number because 8 is associated with wealth. The8 himself also said he chose this name because when the 8 is laid down, the infinite sign appears. He also said something about the legend of "the powerful vocals of eight dragons" I'm not quite sure what that one is but yeah ... thats why The8 is The8. Fun fact, the SVT members are often presented in age order, oldest to youngest, The8 would typically land in the 10th position but he asked to switch position with DK so that he could always be the 8th member presented.

    Honestly, when I first watched their shows, their whole dynamic felt different to other groups I previously watched. They didn't really establish honorifics as much. They do honorifics but it's just not as present to me? Members who I thought were younger were actually the older ones.
    I think it's specfically because they don't treat the youngest as youngest, it's more like they treat each other like any other friend. That is what stood out to me and I appreciate it.

    • @fridanianoname4560
      @fridanianoname4560 2 года назад +12

      for non korean speaker like me, i often overlook this part the most and i think this is actually one of the reason why their dynamics is so interesting and so colourful because it allows a bit more freedom and less rigidity caused by age hierarchy. of course they are not devoid of it too, but seems like everyone knows which line not to cross and so on and so forth but i could be wrong for this part

    • @hannahstan3653
      @hannahstan3653 2 года назад +13

      Agree! Even they themselves mentioned, their group is very horizontal. The older ones can lean on the younger ones for help and comfort, and that's okay.
      This is also the case with their leaders. The official leaders (scoups, hoshi, woozi) lead, but it doesn't mean they are in full control of everything as in what dictators would do. They definitely listen to each other a lot and everybody contributes to whatever they're planning/doing. Also, I feel that a lot of them kind of hold an unofficial leadership of some sort within the group (eg. Seungkwan being an entertainment leader, Mingyu visual arts leader, Jeonghan kind of being like a nurturing parent to all of them, etc.)

    your reaction was so insightful! my favorite conversation was between jeonghan and wonwoo since, when it comes to games, they are complete opposites. where jeonghan is sly and conniving, wonwoo is always 100% honest and fair even if it means he loses. he's also incredibly smart which are all reasons why jeonghan was smiling. he knew he wasn't going to convince wonwoo to take his side but he also knew that wonwoo would do everything he would to win against him. jeonghan really met his match there.

    • @highland42

      vernon was also a good conversation! members have said before they can't ever tell what he's thinking and that really shows here. no one, not even jeonghan, knew if he would stay loyal or not and their quick conversation gave jeonghan no inclination as to what he'd choose. out of all the members, vernon would make the most logical choice. unlike wonwoo who'd do it for loyalty or scoups who would do it for greed, vernon would just make the best and obvious choice and could really go either way. he really is a wildcard in this game.

    His negotiation skills in this ep made him my ult bias in Seventeen
    How he has set amounts and plans for the distribution which makes it more realistic and trustworthy - and, he doesn't budge in his ways - he doesn't give in to the others' demands - and he knows the members well so he's utilising it totally (like how he directly talked about money to SCoups cuz he'll listen, but, to Seungkwan, started with trying to break any absolute trust that Seungkwan has on the others)

    i think what makes this video so cool was that seventeen have always had this image of playfulness since before debut. seventeen works as a group because they really bounce off each other personality wise. the fact that 13 men with 13 different personalities could mesh so well together is interesting and kinda amazing if you think about it. they all have something to say and they all listen. and it's kept lighthearted, even on the rare circumstances it gets serious.
    seventeen take the title of being entertainers very serious if you can't already tell lmaoo they love being jokesters and for going seventeen there's always an air of them waiting to bounce off the next joke to make the video even more funny

    Wow, this is such a fun and interesting watch! It's amazing how well you describe each member.
    Honestly, 'One Million Won' is one of the Going SVT eps that are least likely to be recommended on reactors if they are new to SEVENTEEN because it's toned down and the mechanics of the game is a bit technical (with math and all haha). But for you who focuses on the communication styles and behaviors, I think you picked a great one for a starter!
    To give a context on Jeonghan's original choices of who to convince - Mingyu, SCoups and Hoshi. Mingyu is known to be the smart one of the group, a straegist just like Jeonghan. SCoups is the strength of the group and he's basically known to always stick with Jeonghan and not betray him in a game. And lastly Hoshi, he's usually more into making a fun episode, he aims to give a spice instead of just going with the flow.

    Your opinions to each members are on the right track it's so fascinating... I don't know if you will watch the other part but thank you sm for reacting to this, it must've been hard lol... Jeonghan in one of the interview was like a walking dictionary of seventeen members, he knows them well and uses different ways of communicating or playing around with them, and it has been mentioned a lot that they talk/ tell jeonghan a lot with their worries too w/c jeonghan was happy about to help them, comfort them, and car for them 💖

    I think what makes Dino more mature is that he's the oldest in his family but the youngest in svt, so in turn he still adopts his big bro personality in svt cus age rank is pretty important in korea. Reversedly, Scoups is the youngest in his family but the oldest in svt, so he often acts childish / cute.

    I learned a lot from your analysis and explanation. At first, I thought I was just gonna enjoy your reaction to their game, but I gained a lot of new perspectives and ways of communicating with other people. I'm glad YT recommended your channel to me. I hope you continue react more from seventeen.

    Im pretty sure Jeonghan divided the members into 3 groups, the ones he believes he can fully get on his team, the ones that would be good if he could get and the ones he has no interest in pursuing, mostly cuz he knows it isnt possible, so wont waste his energy on them.
    Jeonghan has the highest EQ, he understands the members well and knows how to talk to them. And he knows that Seventeen is extremely loyal to each other, to the point they know they'll be fine even if they betray eachother pretty brutally. Because they all care about the show and if itll be funny. And thats what hes playing on alot, BECAUSE its a show, and BECAUSE betrayal would be funny, do you think NONE of the others will betray to make it funny?

    One thing about SEVENTEEN is that, SVT as a group, they have one of the strongest bonds in the industry. It's Seventeen for life, but when it comes to variety shows, especially in Going Seventeen, it's just pure chaos and betrayal (courtesy of Yoon Jeonghan, again), so it's understandable that they don't trust each other in this episode, because for them, it makes the show interesting 🤣

    oh hey, one of my favourite episodes! didnt expect that haha, great commentary as usual. it's nice to finally watch you see the boy's actual colours and how they are in a more comfortable/familar setting. this was fun, and no - definitely picking up notes of negotiation from jeonghan, i didn't actually realise how often you may do it as an adult, as I've been one for a little while now - its def needed. i think over than the 'know thyself' episode i recommended previously, i think their TTT Compilation, Debate Night or Don't Lie series can show really interesting sides of them while it remains casual, thanks for the reaction once again :)

    Thank you so much for this!! Love hearing all of your reads on the guys because they're so so accurate lol!
    If you want more Going Seventeen content I would highly recommend watching Don't Lie! it's basically a game of mafia (with a couple of twists) so I think that would greatly showcase more of their communication skills, as well as it's one of their "signature" episodes (there are multiple installments of it) because of how purely entertaining it is.
    I would also recommend their Debate Night! again, as you can probably tell by the "Debate" them, very focused on arguing your point even though the topics are very comical (think "having three arms vs having 3 eyeballs" comical)

    Thank you so much for reacting to going seventeen! I always enjoy your reactions. Not only is it fun to watch but you also point out things that I haven’t noticed before (like minghaos questioning throwing off Jeonghan). If you enjoyed this episode you can watch the next part, to see how negotiations change for example (the ending is unexpected), or other episodes like debate night which would be good at analysing their presentation skills and confidence is communicating nonsense😂or the mbti episode which will allow you to understand their personalities more, not just from the test, but how the members react to the tests being done by other members etc. Thanks

    Dino became a trainee at the age of 14 and lead all the trainees in the choreography practice and performances. And he is the oldest child in his family tree (including the cousins) so despite of having 12 seniors, he rarely acts cute and is very mature for his age. He sometimes gets irritated at the members babying him and he calls them by their full names as well =))).

    Wow! You did a great job analyzing this episode and have a great gasp on each of the members. Jeonghan is very quick witted and has really high emotional intelligence. Yes, the game was fun and seeing them negotiate was really interesting. But what impressed me the most is Jeonghan’s ability to adjust each of his negotiation approach differently to fit each member. He is a true genius and knows his members really well. One of his roles within the team is being the bridge between the members especially between the older and younger members. I have never seen anyone play games like Jeonghan who uses smarts and emotions to win, even tricking the production staff. What’s even crazier is he is also the best at sports among Seventeen. Hope you continue with the second half of this episode to see the end result.

    • @thatkpopsis

      Also forgot to say, Jeonghan is my ult bias for all of these reasons and then some because he really is special. Also, he has the nickname of Seventeen’s Loki because he is such a pro at cheating and tricking people. As well as an angel because he is also so sweet, caring and beautiful!

    First of all kudos for keeping up with the chaos! 👏🏻👏🏻 Secondly thanks for reacting to their Going Seventeen episodes! The special bond and dynamics between them is something we can tell because we've been with them and following their content, but you as a professional commenting on their interaction definitely helps put into words what we can only feel and can't describe! Please do react to the second episode of this 1million won, as I do think that there are things that will surprise you and give you a better feel of their relationship with each other as a team. As a fan I didn't quite like this episode at first since they were sorta pitting the team 12 vs 1 in a way, but I think it's obvious that in the end they're still 13 even when they try to consciously separate Jeonghan from "the team" subconsciously they still can't help their family mindset.
