- As the sun set Monday, the looting started once again across Manhattan as protests entered their fifth day in New York City.
Businesses on 5th and Madison avenues were spotted putting up plywood to prevent looting. However, that didn't stop the looters from breaking in and grabbing what they wanted from the luxury stores.
NYPD officers were standing by shops with shattered windows like the The Nintendo Store, Michael Kors, Kate Spade and Barnes and Noble. Mannequins could be seen on the broken glass-covered sidewalks.
Attempted looters clashed with police as vandals smashed into a boutique tea shop in the middle of Rockefeller Center.
Police made one arrest, tackling a man to the ground.

These people have learned this behaviour after years of oppression and many of them see looting as a form of empowerment-a way to reclaim dignity after decades of abuse at the hands of police and other authorities. It is. Went from 19% up in mid March to 24% down YTD. Now 75% of the shopping center near my business is boarded up because of the threat of riots and looters.

I don’t know what to say about you guys. The reason for the police brutality, the bravery of looters, the fear of shop owners to defend their stores, is deeply rooted in the pervasive presence of firearms. Police want to subjugate their targets with more force as they don’t know if suspect is armed, or has friends who can kill officers with a single bullet. Looters go around the country with guns raiding stores, shooting people that get in the way which is the cause of many of the fatalities. Shop owners even though the last remaining sliver of life savings are being looted even after the major financial impact of covid 19 to shops, are afraid to fight back because the looters are all armed and if they’re crazy enough to loot a shop, just might be crazy enough to shoot and kill. You guys... please see the error of your judgement. Guns are never good. The ability to take another’s life away in a single well aimed shot should never be in ANYONE’s hands.

Nothing is better for excusing the senseless killing of man in defense of property than shaming the only folks creating real resistance to structural violence. The message of the cops / oppressors is clear = property is more important than people's lives. George Floyd was killed because of suspicion of forgery - a non violent crime of property damage.
The people's message needs to be equally clear = people's lives are more important than property. Property damage is the absolute most appropriate response to a corrupt system which enshrines violent thugs to defend rich people's property with unfettered violence against the people.
Every news channel reinforces this lie by characterizing non-violent acts of property damage as violent and characterizing violent police oppression as peaceful. In this way, they get you to turn on the folks who are actually creating real resistance to the violence of American police thugs and turn them in or worse. Wake up people! Stand up!

There is no "side quest" for the protesters. The looters and rioters main quest is to take advantage of the current confusion and profit.

Violent protests often have negative consequences. For humans, desire is a non-negligible, or rather overwhelming, especially when you are part of the chaos. Under this circumstance, one's self-restraint to his/her desires may be lost, and as a result, the original purpose may be greatly distorted.
The protests started in the first place because of the excess violence that was inflicted on a black man. And recently, I saw the news that a store run by a Korean man was robbed by protesters. Now protesters are using excessive violence towards others, towards society. This is not desirable and is not a courtesy to the deceased. It is ironic, how protests against racial discrimination for the dark-skinned came to disrepute them through looting.
Protesters claim that looting is a justified act to steal under the name of "Justice". But in reality, the lower-income class robs the very last ounce of luxuries enjoyed by the high-income class under the name of "Justice". From my point of view, this isn't just an expression of anger against Floyd, but rather the desire of protesters'(of course not all of them) to enjoy a part of a wealthy individual's property and luxury has been expressed in a twisted way.
Finally! a news media calls it for what it is - "Looters" NOT protestors!

I think it is just thugs using the protest as an excuse. Many of the looters aren't even black. A lot of them are actually white. Bring in the army and authorize shop keeper to shoot any looters on site.

I always see the same few guys overseeing the protest making sure things are going as planned... even caught one recording himself as if he was being attacked by the police.. yelling I'm peaceful I have not done anything violent. He was Literally walking ALONE the opposite way!! I wish I recorded them but its definitely fishy.
