It is JARRING how much info you have on preserving foods. One might say it's UNCANNY! (these are puns, blame my mother). Awesome video!

You have a wonderful pantry and as someone who is moving from a sailboat to building a house with a pantry and a garden. I am inspired and love how you have incorporated both home canning with store-bought into a cohesive and beautifully organized pantry. Thanks for this video from a new subscriber from Canada. :)
As someone who eats a lot of Salmon one of our favourite with canned salmon is Salmon Cakes. I make them with an Asian flair with fresh grated ginger and garlic with finely minced green onions. Then I make an "aoli" with garlic, ginger and soy added. I would love to see a freezer tour! And a vinegar making video would be wonderful! Thanks!

@sailorgirl2017 Thank you for your thoughtful and kind words. I think I'm going to try salmon cakes soon because it's been recommended a few times now but in different ways. I'm excited to try. Congratulations on your new journey. My pantry has been built a little at a time, and over the years, it all adds up. Having a home garden has helped for sure.

An idea for your canned salmon is fish cakes - I'm in the UK - I mix the salmon with cold stiff mashed potato (no cream or milk) I do add an egg and dill and shallow fry. Or you can coat them in breadcrumbs and shallow fry. I also do this with tinned tuna and they are a definite family favourite. You can also substitute the fish with any left over cold meats or veggies including greens and fry them up. You want to make sure that the "cakes" have a nice crust on them for the best flavour. Just found you and have subscribed.

Apple and pear butter is also good for marinating meat, especially pulled pork.
I really like your pantry! I hope mine looks this good after our Australian summer.

I have tried many recipes from Jeni- channel name is Jeni's Scratch Made Kitchen. She's fantastic! Defiantly check her out if you want more meals in a jar.
The red pepper casserole I referenced is basically a deconstructed stuffed pepper that I cook with rice in a casserole form 😊 I'll share it the next time I make it. My canned peppers really add a boost in flavor to that dish
      Thank you for watching 😊

Hi, I just came across your channel. I admire those pantries, but I have never been a fond of canned goods. I cook from scratch most of my food and rely on dry grains, fresh/frozen produce, meat, and just a few cans. The only thing that I make ahead of time is my beans, but instead of canning them, I freeze them by portions. I wonder if it is due to what we eat or what? I'm open to advice or ideas.

@@DorisRecetasyMas I've slowly transitioned to a home canned pantry for several reasons and I plan to make a video on that once the harvest season is over. There are certain foods I prefer fresh or frozen over canned. I think a lot of how foods are preserved and used is mostly where you're at in your season of life. Some times I have time to make everything from scratch using the freshest ingredients and other times I need convenience and with my home canned panty I know I get the convenience without sacrifice nutrition or unwanted ingredients 😊
