As a Brit who has never been to Australia I think you should be sponsored by the Aussie tourist board, I'm ready to pack my bags and get over there after watching the last few videos.
I was seriously going to say the exact same thing! I am in America and it has always been my dream to go to Australia - this is next best thing! Thanks Max, love you and Occy.
There is a beautiful melancholy to your videos, Max, and I don't mean that they are sad, but more that they are deeply meaningful and thoughtful with quiet joy mixed in. Thank you.
Max I’m from the USA and I honestly love watching you’re videos❤️❤️. I’m a big fan of you. I’ve been watching emon and bec then I started watching you y’all are incredible people I would love it if y’all ever came out the USA
Yes, melancholy is a great word for them! The videos are put together so beautifully and with love. The connections with your human and animal friends are so delightful and warm ❤❤❤
Love your videos Max! As a UK based Aussie, I watch your travels with an aching heart wishing I was there! BTW my sister in law was the lead designer on Monopoly Deal at Hasbro here in the UK. We played several early prototypes of the game as she developed it! We love it too!
I'm so glad to see your comment, so well said and knowing it's not just me. I had an actual tear rolling down my cheek at one point in today's video. Max is a dear, dear man and something very special about his videos.
@@amstergal Athough goodbyes are hard, it makes the hello's that much better and I am sure he will see them via phone conversations just like the Vanwives, and Eamon and Bec....(they always stay in touch), and when Max has his land purchased, plans made, and ground broken, we will see them all again together ( YOU can count on that) and the odd monopoly shenigans...lol
I have the same emotions and I think it is because Max shows joy in life but also there is a deep sadness within him. He is such a lovely man and I know he will find happiness again in his personal life.
I love your editing. Im 55 and was in Sydney Australia in 1993. We traveled all over for the month we were there. Pebbly Beach, Jenolan Caves, and rented a house boat were on the water during a thunderstorm. I never thought I"d go back. But your videos make me want to. As a child I always wanted to go to Australia. I never had a desire to go anywhere else. I believe that in a past life that I lived in Australia. I manifested my free trip to Sydney. My boyfriend dad retired from the Navy. He got a job in Sydney and we visited for Christmas. I was 23. ❤
Mummy Tip: Run the lid of the jar under hot water and it will open right up for you... no muscles damaged in the making of this tip! Love you video's and I am sad for you to be parting ways with your mates... Good to have you coming back to the East though.. Cheers for sharing Max...
What a pleasant surprise to get another video from you so soon after the last. You’re doing great Max. Feeling all your feels. Making plans, soaking in memories. So proud of you stranger friend.
Max & Occy I have been watching your videos for years and dream of going to Australia. 🌏✨The majestic nature of Australia that you showed me is wonderful and I yearn for it.🌅🏄♀🏜🚙With love from Japan🌸 to Max & Occy🐕🧔🫶
Aww empty nesting with the Occ. Goodbyes are so hard for me! Even when I know I'll see them again it yanks at my heart. It's one of the many reasons why I always wanted a giant piece of land, so all of my friends, family, cool strangers, could come and visit or stay. With enough land we could all live right down the road from each other, and everyone would still have their space, their world, their peace, their privacy. I've got 3 acres now, not enough for the big end-game dream quite yet, but it's a start. I can't wait to see your new start! Don't feel rushed. Meditate on your perfect place and it will show up for you too xo
We have the same mindset Rixanne! That’s the absolute dream 🙌🏼 and thank you so much for your recommendation with Homestead Rescue, I’m about a quarter in and loving it. So helpful! 💛
To avoid murdering the lid of a bottle you can’t open, use the back of a spoon and slide it around the lip of the bottle lifting the lid just enough to break the seal. Lid should then twist right off. Hope this hack helps! Beautiful video and wonderful storytelling
Hello from the Canadian prairies. I found your vlog from Eamon & Bec. You might enjoy Wild We Roam. They are currently building off-grid in upstate New York, but have lived and vlogged off-grid in Hawaii, refurbished a boat and lived on the ocean, built-out a van and lived in it while they travelled Europe. They're lovely, positive, creative people. There are so many ways to live more intentionally. Enjoying yours while our Cohousing project is under construction and our community gains strength with every obstacle and success. I really appreciate your sharing your life with us. Thank you!
L. U. V. . . . 'You' Mr. Max are just *pure love* allll that know you are so blessed. Thank u for making me ball my face 'off. When I lived in OZ I toured everything except Darwin and Taz....Western OZ is 4ever within my heart of hearts and I have guided many a person whom have travelled Downunder to spend immense time there. New Zld and West. OZ are the 2 places I would leave Canada for in a heartbeat.
"Parting is such sweet sorrow." A line from Romeo and Juliet. Saying a sorrowful goodbye is also "sweet" because it makes you think about the next time you'll see eachother. I'm looking forward to seeing your next chapter.
The main resource most RUclipsrs need for offgrid homesteading seems to be lots of money. The cost of the land. Yikes! And the electrical system alone. Holy moly!
This new adventure will help you spread your wings even more. You and Occy have a whole new story awaiting and what a story it will be. Be brave, be bold and be open to whatever is coming your way. You bring such a smile to my face everytime you post a video. I cant wait to watch how it all unfolds in the future. 🐾
I know this was awhile back. Occy must’ve missed you soooooooo much. Dogs are only with us for such a short time. I hope Occy can stay with you until you come back to Australia. He is over the moon to see you.
Good grief...I don't know you, I don't know Sam and Jess...so why the heck did I get a lump in my throat and my eyes get misty as you were saying good bye? You are a jewel of a human Max.
My daughter and I look forward to yours and Occy adventures. Especially with what’s ahead for you in 2023. Can’t wait for this next chapter. Proud to be Australian and you’ve a great job showing off our amazing country.
I came from the Land Below the wind and lived in Ozzie for several years. Currently in Spain (Barcelona) and missing Ozzie. Few minutes ago I was talking to a friend who'd been to Ozzie as well. Ozzie on our mind... thanks Max for sharing your ozzsome journey. Cheers
Hearing Annie’s from Geelong had me in my feels. My first major crush was from Geelong, in the USA visiting family. I still have the ticket stubs from the movies we went to. Ugh…. Still the one that got away 💔🤟🏽 Maybe time for a visit ❤️✌🏽
Of all the off grid folks I watch, the simplest is Bush Radical and the most elaborate is Tyler and Todd, who are also good friends with your pals, the Van Wives. They have the most posh of layouts. Quite impressive.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Max, I completely agree with you when saying goodbye to those we cherish, is one of the hardest thing to do. Someone told me long ago the following "It's time to let go of the past and embrace all that awaits you" I have come to learn the hard way, that time doesn't always heal all wounds... but time makes it easier to embrace life again. Thank God for friendships, I strongly believe that we can't chose our family, but we can chose our friends, who become at times our family. Stay Safe & healthy, hug Occy for me... Abrazos
The most amazing thing I noticed about you is your flair of emotions that you feel towards people and connection. Also, that shot on the board with ocean overlooking, that looked so peaceful and mesmerizing🍻
You're right about the ocean... it has a magical ability to connect us to a higher power that enables the trials and tribulations of the day to evaporate away... you're very fortunate to be in such close proximity so often... and to be able to share that with the Occymeister!
As someone who comes from the tiny little island of Ireland, I can't quite get my head round the vastness of Australia. Thank you for showing it to me. Tip to open a jar. Whack it on the lid with a wooden spoon a couple of times. Works everytime for me. Goodbyes are always hard but 2023 is definitely going to be your year Max. Lots of new and exciting things to look forward to.
You will always have wanderlust but having a home base will feel good. A video too late but I love Wild Wonderful Off-Grid. It is amazing what they have done with their homestead. They are building their forever home for their family of five so their project is likely much bigger than what you will start with, but they are such a lovely couple! They have worked hard to create a beautiful home and farm.
For all of us who have been here the last few years , me getting stuck and old in Mexico for covid , it seems it is time to move on , good luck Max Hopefully I WILL BE WATCHING FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE !! HUGS. onwardddddddd>>>
Another wonderful video :) Forget struggling to open a jar in future - you need to get yourself a Jarkey jar opener. Simple little utensil that most kitchen shops should sell. Absolute game changer!
The music you use puts me in such a happy place, just want to be out in the sun traveling on a beautiful day, loving life. 🥲🥲🥲Can't wait to see where you find your homestead❤
Your videos take me back to my own time in Australia; the colours, the smell on the breeze, the sky and the light. They always remind me of a line from The Australian Sunrise by James Cuthbertson: "Till the sun came up from ocean, red with the cold sea mist, and smote on the limestone ridges, and the shining tree-tops kissed". Safe travels Max & Occy.
We love your videos and have been your subscribers since the beginning of your work. You have gone through many trials and tribulations, but you are getting even stronger. Your videos, drone work and touching stories keep us watching. We live near the Van-wives in Nova Scotia and were happy you had a chance to visit our part of the world. We look forward to watching your next chapter of building off grid and planting roots to call home. All the best and keep up the great work. Thank you , Dave and Seely Canada
There is a small channel based in Australia called 'Our Small Footprint'. They are an off-grid family. The mom does all the videos and handles a lot of the work around the property. She is quite nice and pleasant to watch. She has a video telling how they got their property if you're interested.
I've always thought that sad goodbyes are a sign that good things have happened, you've been with good people, and you've done good things. It's hard and it hurts, but that's what makes seeing each other again so much better.
‘Parting is such sweet sorrow’ , I’m sure you’ll see them soon, perhaps they could come and help with your build? If you are buying in the rainforest, a water source (creek, river, billabong) would be great or you could create your own through permaculture land swales❤️✨
Hi Max, just wanted to wish you good luck in the next stage in your life journey. I know you were looking for suggestions of RUclips channels for inspiration in building your own home. You're friends with the Van Wives, but do you know of their friends Tyler and Todd? They have been homesteading for the last few years building a tiny home and sharing every step along the way to creating an off-grid self-sustaining property. They are kind, warm and friendly like you. I look forward to their videos every week and I think you will too. Give Occy a snuggle for me. All the very best.
I havent missed an episode (NOT ONE) and I can honestly say that I always feel better after viewing....its a endorphin that makes me appreciate all that life has to offer even when we know there are difficult things happening in this world!!! (Your escape puts me in a better frame of mind....Always be kind!! Thank you Max and Occy and friends!! Looking forward to your next chapter ....I am sure you will have lots of friends visit your new land that you call home!!! 1000 islands Canada ps Hoping one day to see you kitesurfing!!!
Hi, next time you want to open a bottle with a vacuum lid ,use a bottle opener, or can opener with a bottle opener on the end & gently lift ,the vacuum will pop & then you can unscrew it without damaging the lid for reuse. Great video too! Thank you Max & Occy.
I live and travel in a camper. I have met some of the best people I've ever known. Stayed a year in one place because a couple I met there. When you meet your tribe you feel it
Earlier, I saw your video on finding out your offer was accepted on the rain forest property. Lovely! THEN, I saw this headline of, ‘Saying Goodbye’. My heart sank because I honestly thought this was going to be about you loosing Occy. SO glad that is not the case!
Max you are such an inspiration to me. Since subscribing last year i have been motivated to travel around this beautiful country of ours and i must say I am obsessed with the Great Australian Bight! I have 12 weeks off work from the end of May and will be driving 2742km straight to the Head of the Bight, then to wherever the wind blows me. I can't wait. 121 days to go... Thank you for sharing your life and travels and wisdoms. You have a lot to offer this world and it is gratefully received.
Australia has the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. If I can't go see it when I'm here on Earth. I will definitely go when I get to heaven! I have enjoyed this video so much. I am definitely looking forward to 2023. You have some wonderful friends. I know they will miss y'all. Hug sweet occy for me he is something else! I enjoyed this video see y'all in the next one
Cannot wait to see the off grid property - excited for you and Occy. Just lost my best mate after 12 years and would have loved to share a journey like this with him. Now have a new little man that I have begun training up to be my travel mate and we are too looking to buy land and build a long term place for us and my horses. Best of luck to you on your journey and keep sharing.
One suggestion about opening up tight or stuck jars: hit the sides of the lid with a wooden spoon all around, either it will make a pop or not, but it will open very, very easily. 😉 As a person with family living away from her, every time I have to say goodbye, I feel like I am ripping a piece of my heart to leave behind. I feel a real physical pain, but you have to remember that it is a good thing, it means you love and be loved in return, not everybody is lucky to have people to love so it hurts being away. You also have virtual friends all around the globe. Onwards and upwards friend, chin up, new adventures are waiting for you.. 🫂
Soooo good to see you moving forward. Having your own place will be a game changer for both of you and a great place for your friends to come. Blessings.
If you want to open a tight twist top jar in the future, just put a knife underneath the lid on the side and twist the knife and it will break the seal and easily remove it off.
Max & Occy you seem very capable of doing what you put your mind to. So being a builder for 30+ years in the States. I believe your going to find the right property by doing the research for all of you your permitting and permission for future use. As for the building please buy some books and always watch some professional videos before you do something you've never done before. I see to many people on RUclips attempting and failing at tasks without any research. Shooting and editing take up to much time for failure. World 🌎✌️ Peace and Love, Tomic
Hi, Max and Occy. Wishing you find the right place where you can nurture the land and the land can nurture you as you build your off grid home. For plenty of helpful information and resources on off grid homes and more, I would suggest contacting New Zealander, Bryce Langston, and seeing the many useful videos at his RUclips channel, “Living Big in a Tiny House”. Perhaps he would even want to film your build for one of his videos or at least point you to helpful resources to use in your off grid build. Wishing you and Occy a wonderful year. D.Arnold, US
Not sure if any one has already mentioned this but I highly recommend you watch Martijn Doolaard you tube channel. His off grid build in the Italian alps and his videography is top notch! 👍
Amazing life you guys live. Green with envy! The next time you are battling with a jar, take a dinner knife and whack the side of the lid, making a bit of a dent. I just want to say that I promise you, that even Jess will open it with her moisturised hands. Beauty is your lid doesn't have a hole in it, and it will still seal!
This is just beautiful. Everything about it. I know what you mean about jumping in the ocean...It's almost like God made it for our healing, replenishment and there really aren't words to describe it. You'll see your friends again...and when you do, it'll be a blast! Safe travels and happy trails! 🛣️
Hello Max and Occy. I will continue to pray for your new road journey, and please continue to be safe and careful and keep everyone informed of your where about’s please , I know myself I would love for you to keep close in touch. Love you guy’s dearly. I also pray that you guy’s continue to be surrounded with beautiful friends. God Bless love’s.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
After all these videos still can’t believe how occy is very well train doesn’t go after barking dog just looks at u like 8:13 uff wat a annoying dog barking lol nice job max
As a nearly from the real beginning follower.. You(s) opened the door to van life for me, fitting you should close it .. peace just peace, find it, hold it and pet the woowoo
Tips for opening tight jars from an old bird with weak wrists: Tighten then loosen OR if that doesn't work, tap lightly against a hard surface around the lid. Let me know how you get on 😊 Sad to see you all split up but looking forward to future adventures 💜
Couldn't agree more as a fellow Brit 👍
Send them an email 😅 Really appreciate that Jo! Would love to do some work for tourism Australia one day 🙌🏼💛
I came on to say the same thing! Australia Tourism needs to pay you Max!
Same here! 👍🏴🇬🇧
There is a beautiful melancholy to your videos, Max, and I don't mean that they are sad, but more that they are deeply meaningful and thoughtful with quiet joy mixed in. Thank you.
Nicely said 😊
Wow! What a beautiful way to put it! Well said.
I don’t know what it is about Max’s videos but I always feel overwhelming joy or empty sadness and oftentimes both at the same time
right?!?!
Definitely lots of emotions here too!
I'm so glad to see your comment, so well said and knowing it's not just me. I had an actual tear rolling down my cheek at one point in today's video. Max is a dear, dear man and something very special about his videos.

I have the same emotions and I think it is because Max shows joy in life but also there is a deep sadness within him. He is such a lovely man and I know he will find happiness again in his personal life.
I'm 65, in Texas and haven't traveled in years. Thank you for taking me along on this virtual journey.
Come up Europe I'll show you around😊
Thanks for sticking it to the 'too many shower scenes' brigade, we love em😂 Goodbyes are sad, but it leaves room for more Hellos, Be kind to you Max😘
Thought I’d double down 😂💛
I too enjoyed the steamy scenes 🤣

Looking forward to seeing what’s in store for you ❤
Always. And so much more frequent when you’re on the road. Always worth it for the connection 💛💛
I’m just waiting for Occy to say something….🤔
He looks so wise 😊
Me too. 12 damn years and still nothing. He’s really building the suspense 💛
City girl from NYC who has followed your adventures for a couple of years now. You give me calmness in a world of crazy. Kissess to Occy!!!
Love that 💛💛
7 months is a long time as travel companions. It will be an adjustment. Thank you for sharing the beauty of Australia. Some incredible views.
Saw your 2023 goals on insta. *Hug* Those of us who know depression see your brave climb. You are a beautiful person.
What a pleasant surprise to get another video from you so soon after the last. You’re doing great Max. Feeling all your feels. Making plans, soaking in memories. So proud of you stranger friend.
Absolutely I root so hard for Max. You deserve nothing less than everything buddy!
Thank you both 🥲💛💛
He really is a wonderful stranger friend :)
Max & Occy
I have been watching your videos for years and dream of going to Australia. 🌏✨The majestic nature of Australia that you showed me is wonderful and I yearn for it.🌅🏄♀🏜🚙With love from Japan🌸 to Max & Occy🐕🧔🫶
Julie is rocking the sandels and socks. She is ready for the Pacific Northwest, USA. Seattle especially. ❤❤❤ Come on over.
@Australia you need to pay Max (and Occy in treats) for showing off your beautiful country!
If you wedge a spoon under the lid of your jar, the seal will pop, and the jar will open with ease.

With good friends it's never "goodbye" ... it's "until the next time." Thank you for another beautiful video. peace
Kudos for your resilience. Goodbyes are very hard. But looking ahead is key.
You say, "Goodbye" and I say, "Hello, hello, hello"
i needed this video today Mate, appreciate you!
He lives!! Happy to deliver matey, appreciate you too!
I can’t be the only one who seen “saying goodbye” with Occy in the thumbnail and skipped a heartbeat
You just took me to a place I'll never see in real life. Thank you. How incredible.

Beautiful, thank you Shaun!
Just caught myself in the mirror … smiling at the screen. Thanks 🙏
‘Parting is such sweet sorrow’ , I’m sure you’ll see them soon, perhaps they could come and help with your build? If you are buying in the rainforest, a water source (creek, river, billabong) would be great or you could create your own through permaculture land swales❤️✨
Max, you have turned into such a great storyteller and your videos are beautiful.
New jar to open? Take a can opener and turn it upside down. Put it under the rim and pop the seal. Opens easy like it’s been open before.
What more could I ask for Bruce! So stoked that Occy & I have been able to have such a positive impact. Couldn't do it without all of your support 🙏🏼💛
Open any jar by knocking the lid against the bench top until the seal pops. The cliffs of the Bight are magnificent, love the drone footage.
Hey Max and Oc of course, A great complete off grid power source solution is "red earth". These guys build an awesome range.
cheers
Dave
Cannot wait to see the off grid property - excited for you and Occy. Just lost my best mate after 12 years and would have loved to share a journey like this with him. Now have a new little man that I have begun training up to be my travel mate and we are too looking to buy land and build a long term place for us and my horses. Best of luck to you on your journey and keep sharing.
One suggestion about opening up tight or stuck jars: hit the sides of the lid with a wooden spoon all around, either it will make a pop or not, but it will open very, very easily. 😉
As a person with family living away from her, every time I have to say goodbye, I feel like I am ripping a piece of my heart to leave behind. I feel a real physical pain, but you have to remember that it is a good thing, it means you love and be loved in return, not everybody is lucky to have people to love so it hurts being away. You also have virtual friends all around the globe. Onwards and upwards friend, chin up, new adventures are waiting for you.. 🫂
The VanWives and Tyler and Todd can give you a wealth of first hand ideas on how and what to start building on your land….
Excited you will buy yourself a place to call your own. All the very best❗️🐾 I love Occy 🤎
Soooo good to see you moving forward. Having your own place will be a game changer for both of you and a great place for your friends to come. Blessings.
Agreed! Thanks Catherine 💛💛
I’m crying like a baby watching this! ❤
Little tip, just tap the top of the jar with a spoon if it's stuck. Then you can usually undo it. 🙂

Tips for opening tight jars from an old bird with weak wrists:
Tighten then loosen OR if that doesn't work, tap lightly against a hard surface around the lid. Let me know how you get on 😊
Sad to see you all split up but looking forward to future adventures 💜
I have never not been able to open a jar before so maybe I'm becoming an old bird with weak wrists too 😅 Thanks Suzie! 💛
@@MaxandOccy Similar to Suzie, just take a butter knife and whack it around the edge, should twist open wayyyy easier. Cheers from Canada
