I love how when you tell anyone that you learn Japanese they react like "sure, i believe", but one word on Russian language gives you the power to shock absolutely everyone, including Russians.
Because spoken Japanese is not very difficult, unlike Russian. The Russian language is too flexible, which is why you will make mistakes very often if you are not a native speaker. The complexity of Japanese is mainly in the hieroglyphs.

Always been a fan of multilingual people. Especially when they use it to entertain and amaze others. Bringing joy to others is always an excellent use of time and makes the world just that little bit better ^-^
I think most people who watch language videos in general are weebs... envious lazy weebs who wish to learn a language but don't have the motivation, the energy, the discipline, but they have lots of experience procrastinating their asses off.

@@rumor2073 if you're trying to learn french the only advice I can give you is that the "r" comes from the top of the throat but its the best I can say its so hard to explain when you can make it since you're a child... well anyway I hope this will be useful
Wait is it really? My teacher told us to try and over exaggerate it until we could control it enough. Almost all of us got it within a couple weeks, if not shorter. I got it from doing the ch sound in “loch” as it’s pretty similar, you just combine that with an r. Now the trilled r is an entirely different story for me. It’s pretty much the only sound I can’t make. I can do an alveolar flap, but not a trill. And I’ve read so many articles and watched so many videos :p
@Abе Pat If I'm recalling correctly, my Russian friend once told me that even native Russians struggle with their grammar sometimes given how hard it is.

@@neoncaasix4570 why give up your voice's tone to learn more ways of speaking, just learn siogn language and act deaf, you don't need to talk then which means less effort.
@@pinklitegaming9669 because vocalising is the best way of expressing yourself, and it never hurts to learn other languages. Also, the only time you have to ditch tones is when you're speaking formally or just learning, after that you can just revert back to speaking normally.

This is honestly making me a lot more motivated and inspired to learn more languages, because this looks fun. The way they can communicate in different is just entertaining.
It's the Galactic Alphabet, started by devs at Id Software for their game "Commander Keen" to hide secret messages. I can speak it as well, it's just English with some punctuation exceptions. Takes a tiny bit of time to understand, and a bit longer to memorize the characters.
Never have I felt so bested in talking. I shall now do my best to learn new languages to my best abilities. So far I'm fluent in English and learning Japanese, but I wanna try learning more. Please wish me luck, can't wait to embark on this journey. Thank you Ikenna for the inspiration.

Banana Games true, but also our grammar is different. We instead of having grammar rules you just have to memorize how u write it. At my dutch school they always say “there isn’t a rule for this, you just have to memorize it”
@@zonbilol7883 it's probably a mixture of actual like, linguistic similarities (like love languages, slavic languages, etc) and also mentally having a better understanding of where to start, what personally works for you to memorize the words, all that stuff. i think the biggest road block for a lot of native english speakers is honestly knowing where to start and what works, because in school you are (usually) required to take a second language, but they can't individually help everyone find the right way to learn.

Ah true, I'm bilingual so I never had a problem with language classes in school. Since most US schools teach a romance language (and my second language is a derivative of many of them)
this will never fail to impress me, ive learning japanese for a couple months and have just recently finished memorising all the hirigana. im still terrible at speaking it tho and probably can't rlly say any proper sentences. but i actually downloaded vrchat bc of your videos, it seems like a good way to practice speaking the language youre learning
xscallcos boss, I kinda disagree once you get used to French writing it's fine you can read unknown words based on written words (not vice versa) but in English you can't in both ways so you need to look up dictionary. Russian is the easiest so far cause it's my mother tongue :)

And I gotta say 90% of the class has problems reading the words even after we read them several times together. I on the other hand am slowly grasping the pronunciation and find it easier to read with every lesson we have.

@@guilherminhookkk yes, in written form I can understand like 50-60% of Portuguese, the spoken language is a bit more difficult, though. With Spanish, instead, I can understand quite a lot even of the spoken language.

For what I've heard, this is how Chinese people feel with the written laguage for like the first 10 years of their lives. Also, my personal experience as someone in Spain is... even if you know how to speak, they're still gonna make you learn how to analise a phrases morphologically and syntactically. I took french too! My mom said that it was a beautiful language. So I spend 2 years learning it but I completely forgot everything 3 years later because I never had the chance to use it after graduation, now I freaking regret listening to my mom because I could've chosen the German language which I use more because we always go to Germany when we go on vacation. :-(

Well, there's a big difference between learning a language (probably) daily compared to learning a language once a week. I believe anyone can, like him, maybe not fluently, but learn a language at an acceptable level in just a year.
Currently studying my 3rd language I've studied (Japanese, the other two were Finnish and Estonian although I never did get good at Finnish) and I love it, I think it's interesting to be able to talk to people from completely different backgrounds personally. Hopefully one day I'll be as good as this dude :)
I'm learning Spanish and I'm really confused because the app I'm using to learn sometimes gives me words that are Spanish but sometimes words that are Portuguese and I dot even know the difference between the two and it confuses me so much I'm --- I'd appreciate of someone could help 😩😩😩
It gets super annoying pretty fast especially for worlds that don't have a performing area. Like sometimes you join a world where you shoot each other for points, and then you got a dude/girl singing for no reason just to show off her skills. Do that in a world that has a stage like The Pug or something, jesus.

I just bought his book along with the audio version and guys I must say honestly, it's pretty fire. It tackles most basic questions people have about languages and I really appreciate the section where he ranks the language platforms and how useful they are for learning.

Congratulations!! I'm a MFL teacher and I love languages. I honestly think that it's extremely important to adapt the way we teach to the real needs of learners. A language is used to communicate, to express ourselves and many times, some methods are really focused on grammar and they forget about other aspects that are very important.

xscallcos boss, I kinda disagree once you get used to French writing it's fine you can read unknown words based on written words (not vice versa) but in English you can't in both ways so you need to look up dictionary. Russian is the easiest so far cause it's my mother tongue :)

And I gotta say 90% of the class has problems reading the words even after we read them several times together. For what I've heard, this is how Chinese people feel with the written laguage for like the first 10 years of their lives.
Also, my personal experience as someone in Spain is... even if you know how to speak, they're still gonna make you learn how to analise a phrases morphologically and syntactically.

I took french too! My mom said that it was a beautiful language. So I spend 2 years learning it but I completely forgot everything 3 years later because I never had the chance to use it after graduation, now I freaking regret listening to my mom because I could've chosen the German language which I use more because we always go to Germany when we go on vacation. :-(

Honestly though, It's probably really great practice when he edits the video and goes over all the dialogue once more, I'd think it helps speed up his progress a lot.

Currently studying my 3rd language I've studied (Japanese, the other two were Finnish and Estonian although I never did get good at Finnish) and I love it, I think it's interesting to be able to talk to people from completely different backgrounds personally.

It gets super annoying pretty fast especially for worlds that don't have a performing area. Like sometimes you join a world where you shoot each other for points, and then you got a dude/girl singing for no reason just to show off her skills. Do that in a world that has a stage like The Pug or something, jesus.

A language is used to communicate, to express ourselves and many times, some methods are really focused on grammar and they forget about other aspects that are very important.
