I remember when you first announced you were creating a language app. Although I have sortof given up on language learning for other things, I will still give your app a try since you put a lot of effort and hard work into this project.
Rememer, always use apps as a supplementary tool to langauge learning. What I did to learn near C1 spanish in a 1.5 years: I do the activities I normally would do in my native language in spanish. I watch my movies, read books and watch youtube in spanish. Then I have a all-in-one grammar book which gives me grammar understanding, the spinal column of my spanish knowledge. Vocab is the meat. Then once in a while I go to preply to talk to a real life tutor for 50min straight (tutors from 4 dollars) not to learn grammar but to speak, speak and speak, and try phrases out. I mostly use apps like anki (flashcards) which works for me, e.g, when I'm bored in the bus.
@@vixdevil Spanish. I didnt really "give up" on it as I'm still in my spanish class. However I'm not studying it outside of school. I'm focusing on learning python for game development.
playing VRChat and randomly finding some fun videos by some Ikenna guy lead me to starting my language learning and by extension my journey to who I am today. 6 Years on and we're completely different people, but the love for languages remains Super f'ing cool to see you now man, great job
Also regarding bugs/UX issues/laggy performance, our engineers are definitely on the case. We did rush a bit to launch at New Years although even then we were still a few days off. 😅 Last minute feature additions can cause instability. However most major issues will be resolved within a week or two. After which we'll focus on solving any language/data/UX issues as well as adding in intermediate content for most languages. They will be in by the end of the month. Apologies if you encounter any major issues, hopefully by next week you're able to access the app without a hitch!
Recall Master is not working at all. Already flied the feedback form. It is tagged now as if I already did it in the Storyline even thou it could not lod neither against another player or against the app. Also the time tracker is way off. It congratulates me that I did 20 minutes, but it tracked only 12 minutes for yesterday, while the true time was rather about an hour 😆 Anyhow I hope that it will progress fast now thatvit is launched. It's still noticeable that it was launched in a rush
I have seen three reviews of this. 1 by Mr Salas (which I understand well because I'm half Argentinian), 1 by an American who can speak Japanese and the other by a guy whose swedish or speaks swedish or something but the review is in English anyway, but ALL of them completely dunk on this, and not in a mean way. They just try to use the app and show how much it sucks and talk about what a waste of time most of the activities are. My point is, you should take this as objective fact, not mean criticism. The app is bad and unless it gets HUGE changes, it wont be good.
For the English Swedish guy I’m guessing you watched ‘Days and Words’ RUclips channel and I’m pretty sure he’s Australian who’s second best language is Swedish.

Fluyo's biggest problem isn't that it's buggy. It's that it just throws a bunch of rubbish at you with no context and says "you're learning the language now", like being taught the Spanish for "The trains in the city are very efficient" is really how we're going to learn Spanish. Sorry, I really don't think this app is going anywhere but the bin.
i was waiting for fluyo for years now and i can't describe my frustration as i can't even defeat the first Glaucus boss! Even if i aswer all question and counterpick correctly, i still lose. It's been four times already since i tried to beat the boss. I kinda want the app to focus on learning part rather than cosplaying Dark Souls.
Ikr it's frustratingly hard. Imagine downloading a language app and accidentally enrolling in Elden Ring: Duolingo Edition. Next update better come with summonable NPCs, because at this rate, I need a co-op partner just to conjugate verbs
Wait its been FIVE YEARS in the making?! I cant believe I've been following along for this long and haven't felt conversationaly fluent in another language. I do gotta say I LOVE the pods where I can hop in and practice conversations after practicing my vocab in the same place.
Tried the app by choosing Korean, as I have almost zero knowledge on that language. After selecting the beginner level, the first lesson of the boring lady who talks a lot was about some word/character conjugations. It left me extremely confused and I didn’t learn anything. Why is the first lesson about that? It’s like teaching someone with zero knowledge on English suffixes as the first lesson. The tutorial seems lacking too and it ends with you on the “decks” page. It didn’t even let me know that the tutorial is already over and what the decks page is all about. I’m not sure if the alpha or beta testers are all just “yes men”, but I doubt they actually gave enough constructive feedback besides testing bugs. Five years and millions of dollars yet the app feels like it’s still on alpha. This app needs a revamp especially in terms of the learning - which I think should be focused more on instead of the gaming and aesthetics.
I've used a lot of language learning apps in the past. I really feel like the people working on this app want to make a fun and rewarding language learning app. I just don't think it's there yet. I'm going to watch this project as it continues, and I hope your team takes the criticisms to heart and makes it as good as it can be.
I understand how an independent app project isn't planning on standing against multi-million competitors, But like everyone said in the comments, there's a clear desire to hit a big audience instead of focusing on smaller more important parts of the app development. - Currently the support for IOS is decent but considering it's a language app it's hard to just drop the whole android launch with constant bugs and bad optimization - the visuals are amazing, love the ideas and the real dedication of the artists to make it a comfy app, but it slows down the optimization so much that there's a reason most apps don't use 3d models on phone apps. - Fluyo's community system is amazing and really engaging but the translation features are still far behind other apps - audio pronunciation is good and I'm impressed it doesn't do as many mistakes as other apps, but it still needs to be implemented everywhere because most exercises don't play the audio half the time. I really believe in Fluyo and hope it can improve in the future but I can't stop but wish we had a later release to let you finishing the app. Good luck
Hi Ikenna - I don't really comment on videos often but I wanted to say thanks for your hard work and dedication. I think it's really amazing how many core components of language learning are included. The storyline/games are also really fun and enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing more updates! Maybe I'm lucky but I haven't experienced a bunch of bugs on my end. If I had a suggestion - it would be to allow to toggle off certain notfications (like if someone joins a pod) but honestly that's it. Hope you and the Fluyo team are doing well - thank you again! I'm excited to keep practicing xx
Okay, yesterday I agreed with someone here in the comment section and mentioned that there a plenty of typos in the text boxes. Now half of the texts don't show at all, explanations stop mid sentence. This app needs fixing, and quickly. I overenthusiastically payed for the yearly subscription and I'm already starting to regret it.
With how long it’s been in development that’s really disappointing, if it was more connectivity issues and other technical issues that makes sense for a launch, this doesn’t, this is sad

I also remember the old ikenna days (tantalizing!), but now it's a mix of really bad and really good things happening to you. I wish you good luck from France and hope you'll find a cure or treatment!
As a huge fan of yours, I have to say this app is terrible. I feel like it's lacking way too much in comparison to other language-learning apps and it doesn't bring anything new to the table.
@IkennaLanguages requesting feedback upon receiving criticism is excellent. It shows that you truly care about the end user and reinforces the fact that you care about the app.

At the current state it won't replace any app due to the bad UI design in general and the laggy launch. I understand that the issues might be addressed soon but as far as i understand,an open beta test was already held, all the issues with the app should have been addressed then and there. If the app wasn't ready, it shouldn't have launched so soon into production! 🙏 A lot of people are gonna just judge it on their first impressions and if the first impressions are like this, many will give up on it! I'm still hopeful and can't wait for it to succeed in the near future! As the things stand now tho, i wouldn't consider using the app long term. Please don't give up! This is screaming kickstarter scam. 1.2 million from the initial kickstarter and you keep asking for more money. App was constantly delayed and when it comes out, its a mess. My biggest issue is the amount of claims you made and constantly comparing to orher learning apps. This app has come up way short
1. Finding the last two letters for the free month is nearly impossible. I have scanned those two images for days. 2. You have an amazing app on your hands, but there are so many bugs. Some of the lessons give me the answers while asking me for the answer the user interface. 3.Some of the things are pointing to the wrong thing or you can't interact with it. On the ui 4. I have not been able to complete a match at all for the competitive just because it keeps freezing in the middle of the mat. I'm not bashing the app. I absolutely love everything about it so hard. It's like a combination of language learning. Pokemon while having a social environment. It's like everything you would want in a fun learning environment, but it definitely needs some work. I want to sign in every day for my rewards but I have no desire to play because it keeps freezing on me and it's frustrating when you're having fun with the lesson and then you have to start all over because it freezes

The app is very buggy and laggy on Android but fairly stable on iOS, our engineers are working around the clock to solve performance issues on Android, sorry for the delay! The app was more stable a few weeks ago but we rushed some final features in for New Years launch that are causing some issues. Hoping most large bugs/UX issues will be resolved in a week or two.
I understand that circumstances around development were not ideal but I can't wrap my head around the fact that this cost 3 million dollars. I can't think of a reason someone would prefer to use this over something like Busuu or even Duolingo. Even if it's not a question of comparing, the app itself feels like someone started developing a very amateur 3D game and decided a month before release that it would also be a language learning app. I can't say I'm hopeful about "issues to be solved in one or two weeks", especially if the ones doing the fixing are the ones behind the concept and development so far. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that it was pitched as a kind of antithesis to Duolingo when I genuinely believe you're better off spending your time on that app instead, and I don't even like it. I find it hard to believe someone who undoubtedly knows a lot about language learning from their own experience thinks this is an effective way to learn a language.
App development takes twice as long and costs twice as much as you expect. Something one learns the hard way That said, anything that immediately stands out that are low hanging fruit you think we can improve on? Aside from bug fixes (already in works). It pains me to say this, but they should’ve waited to release it by a month. I know they wanted it released in time for New Year’s resolution. But with the bugs it is unfairly affecting the ratings on the App Store and the initial review videos don’t recommend it as a result.

@@tootkoro It doesn’t need to beat Duolingo, just needs to be a reasonable alternative to some. I wouldn’t expect it to be up to par from the get go. 3 million in investment is quite frankly nothing if compared to an app like Duolingo. With that said, I prefer to give the team time to resolve to issues before casting judgment, since I’ve been following the channel for a while and know how much he’s struggled to get it as far as it has despite terrible health circumstances. Patience.

Amazing, absolutely incredible. You my sir are the embodiment of perseverance and determination. We are all so proud and thankful for everything you have done for us and given us right now. You worked so hard for this and at some points too hard as you stated in the video. I’ve been watching Fluyo’s journey since you first posted it so thank you for carrying through. Please give yourself a huge pat on the back for us. Unfortunately I am a couple days late but that didn’t stop me from downloading the app and instantly buying premium. I am loving it and forcing myself to go to sleep or else I won’t thanks to this app lol. Once again thank you and all the credit to you and your team and the biggest congratulations on your success. I bought premium the first of the year. My biggest complaint so far is probably a simple fix. When clicking the right answer for vocab or fighting the challengers, if you click the right answer, it feels like it takes literally 1 second too long for the next prompt to come up. I know this may not seem a big deal, but it lessens the fluidity of the app. And, for someone who thinks at quite a fast pace, it can seem slow at times and make me uninterested. This is by far the #1 I would like to see fixed. Apart from that, however, I know this app has great potential once more learning content is uploaded onto the app. Can't wait for full support of Mandarin either! Good job Ikenna. I 've watched your videos since before your illness, and I'm proud to see the work you and your team have produced.
They say the story is the most important part of the Kickstarter.. but i just wish i could have the working app with all the features after all that money and all this time. Its been so long for me now that I've learned the language I needed to and no longer have a need to support this project.
Bugs and slow loading times are not the only issue, unfortunately. The Japanese one has typos and whole words missing from sentences in pretty much every second text box. The hiragana き, according to Fluyo, is "ke" and not "ki". If asked for "ko", you get both こ and コ to pick from, without knowing whether the app is looking for hiragana or katakana here, so only one of them will be accepted as correct. I understand that an app might have technical issues at launch, but this here goes beyond bugs, it's just faulty content to the core.
In a day and age where you can run a simple spelling check over your text, there is no excuse for this kind of sloppyness. Plus, taking money from people for a product as broken as this is shameful. Really pissed off that I payed for this.

I've gamed all my life a little bit too much and I can confirm that in essence, the app just feels great. It really gives out that little vibe of hope that only indie games manage to deliver. Performance issues are a big roadblock for the future but the premise is right there, you can use it, and learn more easily than before. From here it will only get better and better.
Seeing this vid pop on my feed was a push i needed, i was bed ridden last year and a good chunk of this one bc of new chronic illnesses coming up, pots being one of them. The struggle never ends but knowing you accomplished so much despite the circumstances gives me hope i can keep pushing too. I wish you improving health and success on the app, just downloaded it ❤

I need a language game that teaches me language through visual learning instead of teaching me the language by just translating it to english words. For instance, you could teach someone the word rotate by just showing multiple examples of things rotating.
Yeah it’s terrible, but can’t judge to quickly on release. Will become better I hope. Plus people have to realize how much making an app with long term visions can be. But obviously they needed experience also
Gonna be honest for 4 years and 3 mil it's disappointing. First people learn through associating words and feelings. Second there are multiple translations either just plain wrong, make no sense, or have no sound. Third, no grammar? Fourth, a story would have helped. Fifth, no anime?
Hey Ikenna! I love the app butt there’s a few issues that make it less enjoyable. First off, I am in IOS. 1. The pods are great but theres a glitch that makes some borderline unusable because of this glitch where someones messages keep stacking at the bottom the screen which causes you to constantly scroll up to see the newest message. Also, personally I think the usernames are pretty small in font and could maybe have a size increase or maybe some highlight to make them stick out from the background better. 2. Some of the flashcards (at least for Japanese) seem wrong. I had encountered a word that didn’t seem to exist and also the example sentences didn’t match the definition at all. Furthermore, I think there should be a Bold or Underline Text option in the flashcard maker so I can make Sentence style flashcards rather than Word only with an example sentence. Its a small thing but it would be very nice to have! 3. The monsters appear to be pretty strong even if you get everything right. The guard option does not protect enough for the damage you take so I stopped using it completely. 4. I personally haven’t been able to get into a human-game yet. Maybe im the minority but it always fails to load in. There are more things but they seem minor and I’m confident you will/ already are working on them so those were my main concerns. I will be sticking with the app and I hope it improves and also I want to throw in that I’m proud of your hardworking and remember that your health is your priority! 🐬
The Boss fights plays like Monster Hunter Stories, but harder. This is a RPG boost your attacks. Doing JP too got no problem vs Bosses cause I play RPG I guess. Fights are rpg like and not language app like 😅 and yes I found some errors too. Some question that got no right answer lol

I haven't seen the app yet, but I wondered would a "season-pass". Many games have incorporated this into their games and allows people to get exclusive content, which you could theme also, that are cosmetic and let people flex. This allows you to make money from people willing to spend it, and having free to play players still enjoy the experience of learning languages. You could also then incorporate challenges like learn 3 new words etc to motivate people to level up in this season pass. And also, major congratulations, I have watched you for several years and am glad to see you achieve this while battling serious illness, it is no easy feat.
Your app is not good to be honest. I don't understand where the money went in the development. Boring and way too much text. Duolingo is better and that is a low bar indeed.
Yep. Won’t ever become the size of duolingo, plus won’t suddenly attract new people who don’t use either. I know plenty of people who don’t want to learn through an app, especially this one which takes up a lot of time.
I wouldn’t entirely expect it to beat Duolingo off the bat, seeing the change Duolingo has gone through over the years since its founding. I’ll give him time and patience.

Ikenna. You are an absolute legend. I remember watching your IkennaChat videos and being inspired to learn Japanese by them. I may not be great at Japanese, but i learned a lot more than i thought i would. I remember absolutely LOVING the idea of a game-like language app that was effective and fun at the same time. And I remember the first time you posted about your illness. Despite all of that, you still pulled through and kept going on the project. You are phenomenal. I was overjoyed at the fact it was coming out soon, since I've been waiting on it for about as long as you made your first video on it. I remember signing up for the newsletter, too! But in all seriousness- I already have the app open and can't wait to start, so... thank you. Thanks for everything you've done, because if it weren't for you, there most likely wouldn't have been an app like Fluyo, at least for a while. Im learning chinese right now, the app seems nice but i was kinda disappointed when i didnt find the pinyin in the flash cards especially since im a beginner. Also there is no audio for the example sentences. Another thing that would be nice is if you were able to edit cards to make your own notes on them. Other than that i think the app has a lot of potential to be the main source for language learners. (Wish you get well soon and make more content ❤)

This app needs lots of improvements. It’s not bad for Spanish, and I think that top comment is too harsh- it’s an app that emphasizes spaced repetition, and learning in context which I like. But the battles are sort of unwinnable, and far too repetitive. I don’t need the same question 20 times in one battle. And I’m pretty sure this one I’m playing is unwinnable because the eel I’m playing has way more XP and I take much more damage than him for an attack. I don’t know if it’s because I chose intermediate or what. I think what would improve the app a lot is letting you track input hours as well.

Love the app! My son is using it and we’ve got the subscription. Unfortunately we need to uninstall and reinstall the app every time he uses it on his iPad. If it freezes, gets buggy, or even if he just exits and tries to open the app again later in the day, it stays on the title and doesn’t show the sign in screen. After uninstalling and then downloading again he’s able to use it. Love it overall and exited for the issues to get fixed.

I remember when you first announced you were creating a language app. Although I have sortof given up on language learning for other things, I will still give your app a try since you put a lot of effort and hard work into this project.
Rememer, always use apps as a supplementary tool to langauge learning. What I did to learn near C1 spanish in a 1.5 years: I do the activities I normally would do in my native language in spanish. I watch my movies, read books and watch youtube in spanish. Then I have a all-in-one grammar book which gives me grammar understanding, the spinal column of my spanish knowledge. Vocab is the meat. Then once in a while I go to preply to talk to a real life tutor for 50min straight (tutors from 4 dollars) not to learn grammar but to speak, speak and speak, and try phrases out. I mostly use apps like anki (flashcards) which works for me, e.g, when I'm bored in the bus.

Also regarding bugs/UX issues/laggy performance, our engineers are definitely on the case. We did rush a bit to launch at New Years although even then we were still a few days off. 😅 Last minute feature additions can cause instability. However most major issues will be resolved within a week or two. After which we'll focus on solving any language/data/UX issues as well as adding in intermediate content for most languages. They will be in by the end of the month. Apologies if you encounter any major issues, hopefully by next week you're able to access the app without a hitch!

Recall Master is not working at all. Already flied the feedback form. It is tagged now as if I already did it in the Storyline even thou it could not lod neither against another player or against the app.
Also the time tracker is way off. It congratulates me that I did 20 minutes, but it tracked only 12 minutes for yesterday, while the true time was rather about an hour 😆
Anyhow I hope that it will progress fast now thatvit is launched. It's still noticeable that it was launched in a rush

I have seen three reviews of this. 1 by Mr Salas (which I understand well because I'm half Argentinian), 1 by an American who can speak Japanese and the other by a guy whose swedish or speaks swedish or something but the review is in English anyway, but ALL of them completely dunk on this, and not in a mean way. They just try to use the app and show how much it sucks and talk about what a waste of time most of the activities are.
My point is, you should take this as objective fact, not mean criticism. The app is bad and unless it gets HUGE changes, it wont be good.
For the English Swedish guy I’m guessing you watched ‘Days and Words’ RUclips channel and I’m pretty sure he’s Australian who’s second best language is Swedish.

Fluyo's biggest problem isn't that it's buggy. It's that it just throws a bunch of rubbish at you with no context and says "you're learning the language now", like being taught the Spanish for "The trains in the city are very efficient" is really how we're going to learn Spanish.

i was waiting for fluyo for years now and i can't describe my frustration as i can't even defeat the first Glaucus boss! Even if i aswer all question and counterpick correctly, i still lose. It's been four times already since i tried to beat the boss. I kinda want the app to focus on learning part rather than cosplaying Dark Souls.
There's a potion bottle you can use on the middle right of your screen. It's free to use, and completely heals your health without using your turn.
Ikr it's frustratingly hard. Imagine downloading a language app and accidentally enrolling in Elden Ring: Duolingo Edition. Next update better come with summonable NPCs, because at this rate, I need a co-op partner just to conjugate verbs

I do gotta say I LOVE the pods where I can hop in and practice conversations after practicing my vocab in the same place.
Because you're relying on apps that just want your attention. Start immersing and you'll see your language abilities increase exponentially.

Tried the app by choosing Korean, as I have almost zero knowledge on that language. After selecting the beginner level, the first lesson of the boring lady who talks a lot was about some word/character conjugations. It left me extremely confused and I didn’t learn anything. Why is the first lesson about that? It’s like teaching someone with zero knowledge on English suffixes as the first lesson. The tutorial seems lacking too and it ends with you on the “decks” page. It didn’t even let me know that the tutorial is already over and what the decks page is all about. I’m not sure if the alpha or beta testers are all just “yes men”, but I doubt they actually gave enough constructive feedback besides testing bugs. Five years and millions of dollars yet the app feels like it’s still on alpha. This app needs a revamp especially in terms of the learning - which I think should be focused more on instead of the gaming and aesthetics.
I've used a lot of language learning apps in the past. I really feel like the people working on this app want to make a fun and rewarding language learning app. I just don't think it's there yet. I'm going to watch this project as it continues, and I hope your team takes the criticisms to heart and makes it as good as it can be.

I understand how an independent app project isn't planning on standing against multi-million competitors,
But like everyone said in the comments, there's a clear desire to hit a big audience instead of focusing on smaller more important parts of the app development.
- Currently the support for IOS is decent but considering it's a language app it's hard to just drop the whole android launch with constant bugs and bad optimization
- the visuals are amazing, love the ideas and the real dedication of the artists to make it a comfy app, but it slows down the optimization so much that there's a reason most apps don't use 3d models on phone apps.
- Fluyo's community system is amazing and really engaging but the translation features are still far behind other apps
- audio pronunciation is good and I'm impressed it doesn't do as many mistakes as other apps, but it still needs to be implemented everywhere because most exercises don't play the audio half the time.
I really believe in Fluyo and hope it can improve in the future but I can't stop but wish we had a later release to let you finishing the app.

Hi Ikenna - I don't really comment on videos often but I wanted to say thanks for your hard work and dedication. I think it's really amazing how many core components of language learning are included. The storyline/games are also really fun and enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing more updates! Maybe I'm lucky but I haven't experienced a bunch of bugs on my end. If I had a suggestion - it would be to allow to toggle off certain notfications (like if someone joins a pod) but honestly that's it. Hope you and the Fluyo team are doing well - thank you again! I'm excited to keep practicing xx
Okay, yesterday I agreed with someone here in the comment section and mentioned that there a plenty of typos in the text boxes. Now half of the texts don't show at all, explanations stop mid sentence.
This app needs fixing, and quickly. I overenthusiastically payed for the yearly subscription and I'm already starting to regret it.

With how long it’s been in development that’s really disappointing, if it was more connectivity issues and other technical issues that makes sense for a launch, this doesn’t, this is sad

I also remember the old ikenna days (tantalizing!), but now it's a mix of really bad and really good things happening to you. I wish you good luck from France and hope you'll find a cure or treatment!
As a huge fan of yours, I have to say this app is terrible. I feel like it's lacking way too much in comparison to other language-learning apps and it doesn't bring anything new to the table.
What language/difficulty are you on? A full course or lite course? It'll get better with time, collecting feedback to see what we'll improve first.
@IkennaLanguages requesting feedback upon receiving criticism is excellent. It shows that you truly care about the end user and reinforces the fact that you care about the app.

At the current state it won't replace any app due to the bad UI design in general and the laggy launch. I understand that the issues might be addressed soon but as far as i understand,an open beta test was already held, all the issues with the app should have been addressed then and there. If the app wasn't ready, it shouldn't have launched so soon into production! 🙏
A lot of people are gonna just judge it on their first impressions and if the first impressions are like this, many will give up on it!
I'm still hopeful and can't wait for it to succeed in the near future! As the things stand now tho, i wouldn't consider using the app long term.

I want to sign in every day for my rewards but I have no desire to play because it keeps freezing on me and it's frustrating when you're having fun with the lesson and then you have to start all over because it freezes

I understand that circumstances around development were not ideal but I can't wrap my head around the fact that this cost 3 million dollars.
I can't think of a reason someone would prefer to use this over something like Busuu or even Duolingo. Even if it's not a question of comparing, the app itself feels like someone started developing a very amateur 3D game and decided a month before release that it would also be a language learning app.
I can't say I'm hopeful about "issues to be solved in one or two weeks", especially if the ones doing the fixing are the ones behind the concept and development so far.
It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that it was pitched as a kind of antithesis to Duolingo when I genuinely believe you're better off spending your time on that app instead, and I don't even like it.
I find it hard to believe someone who undoubtedly knows a lot about language learning from their own experience thinks this is an effective way to learn a language.
App development takes twice as long and costs twice as much as you expect. Something one learns the hard way That said, anything that immediately stands out that are low hanging fruit you think we can improve on? Aside from bug fixes (already in works). It pains me to say this, but they should’ve waited to release it by a month. I know they wanted it released in time for New Year’s resolution. But with the bugs it is unfairly affecting the ratings on the App Store and the initial review videos don’t recommend it as a result.

With that said, I prefer to give the team time to resolve to issues before casting judgment, since I’ve been following the channel for a while and know how much he’s struggled to get it as far as it has despite terrible health circumstances. Patience.

Please give yourself a huge pat on the back for us. Unfortunately I am a couple days late but that didn’t stop me from downloading the app and instantly buying premium. I am loving it and forcing myself to go to sleep or else I won’t thanks to this app lol. Once again thank you and all the credit to you and your team and the biggest congratulations on your success. Hopefully this will give you the push into bed to get some rest you deserve it.
I bought premium the first of the year. My biggest complaint so far is probably a simple fix. When clicking the right answer for vocab or fighting the challengers, if you click the right answer, it feels like it takes literally 1 second too long for the next prompt to come up. I know this may not seem a big deal, but it lessens the fluidity of the app. And, for someone who thinks at quite a fast pace, it can seem slow at times and make me uninterested. This is by far the #1 I would like to see fixed. Apart from that, however, I know this app has great potential once more learning content is uploaded onto the app. Can't wait for full support of Mandarin either! Good job Ikenna. I 've watched your videos since before your illness, and I'm proud to see the work you and your team have produced.

Bugs and slow loading times are not the only issue, unfortunately. The Japanese one has typos and whole words missing from sentences in pretty much every second text box. The hiragana き, according to Fluyo, is "ke" and not "ki". If asked for "ko", you get both こ and コ to pick from, without knowing whether the app is looking for hiragana or katakana here, so only one of them will be accepted as correct. I understand that an app might have technical issues at launch, but this here goes beyond bugs, it's just faulty content to the core.
In a day and age where you can run a simple spelling check over your text, there is no excuse for this kind of sloppyness. Plus, taking money from people for a product as broken as this is shameful. Really pissed off that I payed for this.

I've gamed all my life a little bit too much and I can confirm that in essence, the app just feels great. It really gives out that little vibe of hope that only indie games manage to deliver. Performance issues are a big roadblock for the future but the premise is right there, you can use it, and learn more easily than before. From here it will only get better and better.
Seeing this vid pop on my feed was a push i needed, i was bed ridden last year and a good chunk of this one bc of new chronic illnesses coming up, pots being one of them. The struggle never ends but knowing you accomplished so much despite the circumstances gives me hope i can keep pushing too. I wish you improving health and success on the app, just downloaded it ❤

I need a language game that teaches me language through visual learning instead of teaching me the language by just translating it to english words. For instance, you could teach someone the word rotate by just showing multiple examples of things rotating.

The pods are great but theres a glitch that makes some borderline unusable because of this glitch where someones messages keep stacking at the bottom the screen which causes you to constantly scroll up to see the newest message. Also, personally I think the usernames are pretty small in font and could maybe have a size increase or maybe some highlight to make them stick out from the background better.
2. Some of the flashcards (at least for Japanese) seem wrong. I had encountered a word that didn’t seem to exist and also the example sentences didn’t match the definition at all.
Furthermore, I think there should be a Bold or Underline Text option in the flashcard maker so I can make Sentence style flashcards rather than Word only with an example sentence. Its a small thing but it would be very nice to have!
3. The monsters appear to be pretty strong even if you get everything right. The guard option does not protect enough for the damage you take so I stopped using it completely.
4. I personally haven’t been able to get into a human-game yet. Maybe im the minority but it always fails to load in.
There are more things but they seem minor and I’m confident you will/ already are working on them so those were my main concerns. I will be sticking with the app and I hope it improves and also I want to throw in that I’m proud of your hardworking and remember that your health is your priority! 🐬
The Boss fights plays like Monster Hunter Stories, but harder. This is a RPG boost your attacks. Doing JP too got no problem vs Bosses cause I play RPG I guess. Fights are rpg like and not language app like 😅 and yes I found some errors too. Some question that got no right answer lol

The App has 2 stars on the App store as I'm writing this yet having watched your Channel since 2019 I'm simply blown away by what you have achieved. Thos is one of the most inspiring things I've seen in my life and I will buy a lifetime subscription today

I LOVE this app! My only issue is that it has lesson limits if you don't pay. You can't have those if you want to be better that Duo.
I haven't seen the app yet, but I wondered would a "season-pass". Many games have incorporated this into their games and allows people to get exclusive content, which you could theme also, that are cosmetic and let people flex. This allows you to make money from people willing to spend it, and having free to play players still enjoy the experience of learning languages. You could also then incorporate challenges like learn 3 new words etc to motivate people to level up in this season pass. And also, major congratulations, I have watched you for several years and am glad to see you achieve this while battling serious illness, it is no easy feat.

Yep. Won’t ever become the size of duolingo, plus won’t suddenly attract new people who don’t use either. I know plenty of people who don’t want to learn through an app, especially this one which takes up a lot of time.

You are an absolute legend. I remember watching your IkennaChat videos and being inspired to learn Japanese by them. I may not be great at Japanese, but i learned a lot more than i thought i would. I remember absolutely LOVING the idea of a game-like language app that was effective and fun at the same time. And I remember the first time you posted about your illness. Despite all of that, you still pulled through and kept going on the project. You are phenomenal. I was overjoyed at the fact it was coming out soon, since I've been waiting on it for about as long as you made your first video on it. I remember signing up for the newsletter, too! But in all seriousness- I already have the app open and can't wait to start, so... thank you. Thanks for everything you've done, because if it weren't for you, there most likely wouldn't have been an app like Fluyo, at least for a while. I really wish the best for you and I hope you can be cured of your illness.

Im learning chinese right now, the app seems nice but i was kinda disappointed when i didnt find the pinyin in the flash cards especially since im a beginner. Also there is no audio for the example sentences.
Another thing that would be nice is if you were able to edit cards to make your own notes on them.
Other than that i think the app has a lot of potential to be the main source for language learners.

This app needs lots of improvements. It’s not bad for Spanish, and I think that top comment is too harsh- it’s an app that emphasizes spaced repetition, and learning in context which I like. But the battles are sort of unwinnable, and far too repetitive. I don’t need the same question 20 times in one battle. And I’m pretty sure this one I’m playing is unwinnable because the eel I’m playing has way more XP and I take much more damage than him for an attack. I don’t know if it’s because I chose intermediate or what. I think what would improve the app a lot is letting you track input hours as well.

Love the app! My son is using it and we’ve got the subscription. Unfortunately we need to uninstall and reinstall the app every time he uses it on his iPad. If it freezes, gets buggy, or even if he just exits and tries to open the app again later in the day, it stays on the title and doesn’t show the sign in screen. After uninstalling and then downloading again he’s able to use it. Love it overall and exited for the issues to get fixed.

I love the app enough to take the extra time and hopefully they get these little things fixed. If I didn’t like it I wouldn’t reinstall it lmao. But yeah they need to fix it because it is super annoying 🫠. Idk if it’s like that on my phone though he’s just been using it on his iPad. Ps I’ll give an update if/when it gets fixed.
