The static no-load voltage of a lead-acid battery is a very poor indication of the health of the battery. Most bad batteries will still measure 12.6v but when you apply a load can drop down to 6-7v. Battery testers are very inexpensive and will give you the health, state of charge and internal resistance of the battery. Most will also measure the voltage of the charging circuit to ensure it too is working properly.

I gave you a thumbs up because you're a very good demonstrator. Pretty erroneous though as mentioned. It's due for a redo on the subject.
    Thanks.

ok I put my battery for my lawnmower on a charger , said it was charged but put it in mower and nothing . Even double checked it on charger , could it have a dead cell in it . They battery was bought in 2023 from walmart and it went dead last year but hubby was in hospital and had no tim to take it back . I took it out of the mower last year and just stored it in the mower shed

Well great, you gave no information what happens if your battery reads 11 volts. I'm searching to find out when a battery is dead or just needs recharged and I just wasted 6 months watching this. Sure it was only a few minutes but it felt like 6 months because you gave absolutely zero useful information. You tested a good battery, then tested another good battery that was older. Which goes to show that they don't make batteries like they do anymore every 2 years I have to buy a new battery.
Thanks for nothing I'll go back to googling to see if somebody knows how to give an informative instructional video.
    Ding dong.🙄

@HEADCUTTER. Your point is valid, but you don't need to rip the guy's face off for it. Most of us lose a bit of time finding exactly what we're searching for in a video. It's important in life to assess what is worthy our excitement, anger and rage vs what is annoying. I lost my wife of 35 yrs to pancreatic cancer. I have a brother who is now fighting round #2 of colon cancer and not likely to make it beyond a year or two. I know what is important in life better than I ever did before. Step back and look at life with an eternal perspective. Our country and our world will be a much nicer place. God bless you today.
