My favorite expansion is Love Letter: You've Been Served, wherein the Princess finally files a restraining order against you for pestering her and her family. It's a fun twist when you're trying to deliver your heartfelt sonnets while simultaneously avoiding the royal process servers. Will you finally take the hint that she's locked herself in her bedchamber specifically to avoid you? Or will you persevere at the risk of your own imprisonment because you're really a nice guy if she'd just give you a chance?
I'm surprised that no one mentioned Thunder Road Vendetta: Stop Signs and Speed Limits. We are all aware the base game encourages reckless driving and I think it's refreshing that Restoration Games addressed consumer complaints by releasing this marvelous expansion. I especially appreciate the eight-hour defensive driving course that begins every session. I think every game could benefit by incorporating a sense of safety into gameplay.
Disappointed that the Sleeping Gods: The Awakening expansion wasn't mentioned... The Alarm clock that comes with it is one of the most premium components I have ever seen!
Colonial Might really cracked the genre of Europeans Collecting Resources from Distant lands for me. The simple "Have a resource that lets you get another resource that lets you build a game component that influences the chance of you getting a third resource that lets you get a card that lets you have a chance to get a victory point which you can trade in for more of the first resource" was both extremely straightforward and super impactful. It only takes like 30-45 minutes to explain to a new player, and it only takes like 2 or 3 times for it to really stick. Plus I loved the innovative "Light Genocide" set of power cards. The art was really evocative of the colonial might as well as the colonists bringing superior culture and technology to the primitive natives. 10/10 would subjugate a native peoples again.
My favorite expansion is Everything is Carcassonne, which allows you to play all expansions for all other games as expansions for Carcassonne. We all know that Carcassonne does not have nearly enough expansions, and this very clever one fixes that problem

I quite like the expansion to Millennium Blades. Millennium Blades the Dice simulation is an extra level you can play on top of the board game about playing a card game, where instead of playing the board game, you play a dice game about playing the board game. It simulates the feel of playing the board game really well, but it had such a small print run that I'm not surprised it wasn't mentioned.
I'm kinda bummed that no-one mentioned "Pandemic: Everything is Fine" expansion. A Pandemic game with no diseases and nothing to do but move around the board until you get bored and decide to play something else, it's such a revolutionary concept, completely ahead of its time.
Hmm, my version does have diseases but you're supposed to pretend they don't exist and shout loudly about your rights. Maybe you have a version that was released outside the US?
I can't believe you thought I was too big to have your people call my people to hear my thoughts on my favorite expansion: Ark Nova- Terra Nova. Forget placing animals in pens, you're working to control the land that the zoo is being built on, and making it the best zoo land for your faction!
My favorite expansion is actually for a genre of game - it's the letter 'X' expansion for 18xx games. Usually 18xx games are quite niche but with this expansion they get mentioned on ads all the time on the internet.
Seriously the best :D My favorite Slay the Spire: Rundown - now instead of climbing up the spire you can also run down the 100.000 flights of stairs if the boss looks too unfriendly - beware you will lose a card in every room and you might have run out of defenses when you reach the bottom giving the same result - but at least you tried :P
Thunder Road Vendetta: Houston small box expansion was robbed. Gives each player a slab car with swangas and renames the road to i10. No other game has ever captured the essence of a city so well.
I think my favorite expansion is the newest release for Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion, called "Gingivitis: The Silent Killer". We all know that lions never brush their teeth or even use mouthwash. So, it's refreshing to finally bring a touch more realism to this game's depictions of lions and the consequences of their lifestyle choices.
I'm usually not a fan of expansions that "fix" a game, but the "Deluge" expansion for Ark Nova is an exception to that rule. With this expansion, we finally get to play the phase of the game where the flood waters begin, and we determine which player's ark is able to withstand the 40 days and 40 nights of downpouring. The base game always left our game group with this unfinished feeling. We built our Arks.....now what?

I don't think it's considered a board game, but seriously... Best expansion? RPS's "+1" expansion. No longer limited to just Rock, Paper, and Scissors; this awesome expansion added in "dynamite" where you extend your middle finger to the other players. Dynamite beats Rocks, Papers, and Scissors. Rarely used though because it does remove the Dynamite player from future rounds; it's basically an end game move.
