    Thinking of booking this lounge but dress code says smart casual, I always fly in jogging bottoms and a t-shirt worries they might reject me

      It’s useful to have the lounge in really busy airports where it’s hard to find a place to sit. And while it sounds a lot, if you were to have a bite to eat and a couple of beers elsewhere in the airport you probably wouldn’t get much change out of £35 anyway!

    can you please share your experience with plaza premium lounge at terminal 2? I usually travel business and have used BA lounges on terminal 5 and No 1 Lounge on Terminal 3. However, I'll be travelling with friends soon from terminal 2 and have decided to travel economy to accompany everyone else. However, I am thinking to book Plaza Premium to relax before the flight. I would appreciate your comments on this lounge.

      Hi Aisha. Regarding the Plaza lounge in T2, I have to be honest and say it's been a couple of years since I used it. I always found it to be comfortable and with a half decent (if somewhat uninspiring) selection of food. However I have seen quite a lot of reviews in recent times suggesting that it has gone downhill a bit, overcrowded and a lack of attention to detail in refilling the food station etc.

    Assuming I planned to eat at the airport...what would breakfast/meal plus drinks cost? I could easily spend £25 in an airport restaurant...would I pay £35 for a lounge....yes for the ambience, freedom to choose what to eat etc. But that's on the assumption I could get in straight away; if I had to wait 45 mins I'd just go to a restaurant :) I must try those pods one day...they look a lot of fun!

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  5 месяцев назад +1

      I agree regarding the price, if you can get straight in. If you have to wait then that limits the time in there too of course, nobody is turning up 4 hours early for their flight! The pods are pretty cool, took little'un on them once and they blew her mind ha ha!

    I tried to get into an airport lounge in Bristol once but they said that it was a two hour wait. I sacked it off. Flying to Capo Verde in February from Gatwick so may try again there.

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  Год назад +1

      Yeah it can be hit and miss, especially in some of the bigger airports. Surprised Bristol was an issue, as I normally find the lounges in smaller airports are dead easy to get into. Couldn't tell you how many times I have been the only guest in the lounge in Shannon for example. You can pre-book if you wanna guarantee a space in most of the lounges, so that might be worth you looking forward to. Cabo Verde sounds good buddy!!

      Also if you look on the app you booked your flight with they usually give you an offer for a lounge, think I paid £17, used trip app.

    I would never pay for lounge access. If you are paying £30+ you might as well get your food and drink in the food outlets around T5. Far better, set up an AVIOS account and do some shopping on the BA estore that you would normally anyway. House, Car and Travel insurance has netted me 7,500 AVIOS through very familiar price comparison sites, add other normal spend and you can easily make the 17,500 +£37 required to fly Business Class with BA to Madrid each way. The BA lounges are much less crowded and an upgrade on what you experienced here.

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  11 месяцев назад

      That’s interesting, I have never actively tried to accumulate Avios. I only have lounge access through my bank account. It’s handy for business travel as it is easier to work in a lounge than just in the concourse. I wouldn’t pay for access, simply not worth it as you say, better to spend the money on the food you want in the terminal. Thanks for the Avios heads up though, will look into that!

      @@GreenoEats Yes I just went to a Champions League game in Sevilla a few weeks back. As there weren't many flight options into Sevilla, I used AVIOS to fly Economy to Madrid returning back Club Europe (Business) which gave me access to one of the nicest lounges in Europe (Iberia Dali). It only cost £50 return plus around 24,000 AVIOS which really isn't difficult to collect. The real benefit though is long haul, where if you become a prolific AVIOS collector allows you to travel business or even first class which makes flying a pleasure rather than a chore.

      Wow, that return flight to Spain sounds like a very good deal (although as a Bournemouth fan I’m not sure I’ll be needing to search out deals for European games any time soon 😂) Thanks for the information, I am definitely going to do some research on that!

    Only used Plaza Premium in T4. Was not impressed. Food average and not a big selection plus only free drinks were 1 beer and bog standard white and red wines. All other alcohol was payable. I was travelling business class so had automatic access but would certainly not pay for it.

      Yeah I think that's right. Also I think certain lounge cards take priority over others. I'd be annoyed if I pre-booked and then had to wait if I was paying, because it's not like we all turn up 3 hours before our flight. Thanks for watching, and for the nice comment about my channel!

      I sometimes use first class on a train (if I know it’s gonna be a busy route, and I book far enough in advance that it’s not horrifically expensive, or if work are paying!), you get a bit more space, power sockets etc. But normally I’ll take the standard class, it’s generally good enough. I can’t travel facing backwards on a train though, makes me feel really travel sick!
