I had one installed on my Fender Blues Deluxe and I love it. Pure clean tones, and Earth Shattering Distortion if pushed. Perfect for my amp and tastes.
Im a carpenter so I built a 2×12 and packed it with these speakers. I wanted to go with some alnico blue but at less than a third the price I went with the Canibis rex. I have made guitar mistakes in the past with all equipment but I hit a grand slam with this decision. I am running it through a 20 amp Blackstar head and everything is there. The tone, the right headroom, midrange, breakup. Everything. I see no need to change my speakers or amp ever again. I had to edit to say I have played an LP, Strat and a Tele and A Carvin SH550 Carvin as well as Martin and Gibson acoustics too. This is not my only guitar set up but it is the last. At least for my house.
From Leo: I tried one, and it's warm and smooth tones from the bottom to the top are joy for a jazz and clean player. I was so pleased I bought 2 more for my 212 VK amp. No harsh boom at the bottom, no ice pick highs. The sound quality does not go away when you push some firm overdrive. They are only 50 watt rated so if you have a high power 1 x 12 combo amp, this might not be able to take it.
Cannabis Rex in my 1951 Gretsch amp. Tried various others in it to replace the dead original R-Celestion (It was completely missing from the cab when I got the amp. During the restoration of it, had tried various speakers to match the tone of some other similar Valco circuit, amps circa same time period and finally settled on the C-Rex. Great tones from the low volume smooth to the open the lid cranked break up,that those amps are known for. Solid Blues, nice spank if cutting some edged roots and if you gotta have that pure early Tele cut this is the combo. I have found two other amps in existence from 1951 labeled Gretsch and verified this amp is correct with the twelve inch speaker from Gretsch. Both of those are owned by collectors outside the US. Anyway, this amp gets its share of attention from me and some close friends who also love it. Cheers and thanks to Eminence for this speaker as it provides the final part to the mix.
Wow, great playing on the demo and it really helps to hear a variety of guitars, pedals and amps. I imagine using a ribbon mic makes a big difference to how smooth it sounds. Thanks.
Got a 94 Fender “Evil” Twin, for some shoegazey stuff, some modulated ambient clean tones but some thick lush distorted crunch. I like what it can do but i feel like i like how some of the cab models on my Ox Top Box sound. Makes me wanna swap out those blue label Fender Special Designs, I’m thinking swapping out 1 of them with this or a governor or swapping out both with 1 of each. Any thoughts???
I don't think shoegaze is very speaker specific or tube reliant. I'd say british coned, when I was at my shoegaziest, I was enjoying even the cheap celestion I was working with.
@@UnremarkableMarx i never got around to it. Ended up with a 5150 el34 50watt and a 1960A marshall with the stock speakers instead. Does everything i could ever want it to and more B)
What's the deal with those square early 70s high power alnoco 10s. The ones from the music man cabs. You guys have any 8ohm baskets with those magnets.
I purchased one a few years ago. Gotta say it lacked treble seriously. May be good for smooth distortion but not for cleans. I think speaker description should have been clearer about that.
seen lots of videos before purchasing C-Rex last year, all of them displayed it like something with a blanket on it, darker than my ex's soul. however, when I swapped stock Blue Marvel in PV Classic 30 I was surprised a lot (like A LOT) how clean its sound is. no wonder why jazz or classic music is mentioned as suitable for the speaker on the official page. It's very EQ'able and I really had no need in pushing treble further than noon. Going to swap PV Classic 50's speakers too, now for C-Rex + Private Jack combination (saw a review on amazon praising it).
My friend bought one too a couple years before me and his sounded really good. Mine sounded so dark I took it out soon after. That was maybe 15 years ago however.
In case anyone stumbled on this, hemp cone speakers take a long time to break in. I put a c-rex in my SF Deluxe Reverb over 10 years ago and have since played it a lot. It sounds better than ever. Not dark, plenty of top end but still not harsh. I gigged it with pedal steel as well as guitar. Not saying it takes 10 years, but under 100 hours it's not a good representation of it's true voice.
I had a 2011 BJIII LE Blonde, looked great, plenty loud, bought locally through a good deal on Craig's. One problem, sounded like crap! So got a C-Rex, mint used, broken in, and it took the "icepick" out but sounded like mud. Better bass but that was it. Also tried in a Princeton and it muffled (ruined) the Princeton! Sold the BJ and C-Rex, never looked back!
I play a marshall 20 watt svh20 and I'm going to replace the type v speakers I have in my 2x12 with one of these rex speakers and a v30.. the Combo should work great with my marshall? I play rock blues psychedelia shit anybody got suggestions? I play a prs and an American strat
Would anyone recommend this in a fender 68cdri ? I ordered the pine cab version with creamback neo. Not really digging the neo. But it still sounds great. Really trying to get the best tone possible out of the amp, until im able to upgrade to a better one.
From Leo: They work great in a ValveKing, I used to think the amp was only ok, the Cannabis Rex speakers made it great. I am a Jazz and Blues player that sits in with some country players pretty often.
Hot Rod Deluxes are bright. Governor is a little darker than a Celester V30, but same kind of sound. Cannibis Rex will be cleaner, breakup later, and taper off some of that high end shrill HRDs are known for. You might also want to look into doing some mods on that amp, like the master volume upgrade that allows a smooth 0-12 rise in volume. Most HRDs are all the way up w Master at 1.

So it would handle 80s rock type distortion well? (Marshall DSL)

Do you have a Blackstar ht20 mkii and if so does it fix the huge presence of the mid eq on the amp?
Cool setup my guy

incredible quality demo. Good job, guys. The cannabis rex is one of my favorite!

Great playing! Bought one of those for my Blues Junior. It is a very good speaker.
Fantastic name, awesomely unique product! I can’t wait to afford one when I make a DIY cab. ❤️
Excellent demo, the best.
That’s some great pickin dude.
Got a C-Rex in my blues jr! Grand speaker
Do you know if this will work with any? I have a BJ III
@@evansgate yes just make sure you get the right ohm rating. I just bought it for a blues deluxe. You can also use a celestion blue for your blues jr
Eminence and WGS are the best
What a demo. You're awesome.

cannabis rex or the red white and blue for a fender 65 princeton?
Go with the Rex!
km5658, R,W,B !
Yeah I got a Marsh 1963 bassman build....pretty sweet

What year is thr gibson
Highly considering grabbing a pair of these for my Valveking 212. I can't be having with the shit Peavey 12's anymore, and these sound pretty good.
Let me know how that sounds for you. I'm literally looking for this speaker to go with my Valveking 112 at the moment too
Just curious---- did you end up with a new speaker for the 112? I'm looking for a suitable replacement myself...

I didn't see an AC30
Yes I was also curieus. I want to have a 12inch cab for my AC10 and was wondering what kind op speaker will do good.
1:23 what is the song or what is nomber of the song that plays man?
DUDE, U ARE RIGHT! what song is that from?
I guess girl from ipanema
For a hot rod...Cannabis rex or Governor?

This speaker was a little to warm for my Princeton.
Is that a Fender fatfinger on the Tele? lol
Be better if they showed his positions and settings. Pretty useless.
You got a speaker made for heavy-metal and you're playing that garbage
Lol
Heavy metal is garbage. Take trash cans and bang them together. There you go...heavy metal!
From Leo: This is not a harsh metal speaker. This speaker has a warm and smooth jazz tone. Very popular with Jazz guy and other clean players.
Hate those metal idiots
There's always one asshole....
