Des
PS The 70 year old fisherman who is still learning!!😜
Hello Des nice to hear from you and thank you. Hope you get onto a squid or two or even bag out and get covered in ink lol. You might already know you don't have to be in deep water, just make sure you are drifting over ribbon weed , Brocken bottom and nice clear water. All the best and stay safe....David
Hi Dave good to see you haven’t changed a bit miss our fishing trips just started fishing here in uk again went to east coast other day caught 5 codling haven’t lost my touch only one that caught any
Hi Mark nice to hear from you mate, yes still trying to get out and get fishing good to hear you have been out too. Cod gee ill bet they taste good, catching fish and no one else catching, you must be doing something different well done. I will be doing more youtube slowly but surely so you can get some memories of the fishing we use to do. good on ya Mark really happy you found my channel......Cheers David.
I went down Second Valley on the last new moon and got 10 squid and a flathead in 1 session. Slept down there and did Wirrina in the morning and got 7 squid in an hour. It was a magical 2 sessions can't wait to go back, it's a beautiful place
So happy to hear you had a great fishing spell down here, yes its Beautiful over hear really quiet the right times of the year with lots of fishing opportunities nice bonus scoring a yummy flathead. A friend of mine caught 3 not too long ago he was over the moon
Awesome video mate, really helped a lot with preparation for Mulloway baiting. 👍🏼👍🏼
Glad to help V Rocky and thank you, hope you can get onto a mulloway its been a couple of years for me, I am going to try to have a go before I get too busy before Christmas or after February through to mid May. its such a buz catching a Mulloway.
Yep YUM is right !
Yep I most defiantly agree ian and seems to be plenty around for every one to get out and catch a feed.
Awesome video mate 👍.
Thanks mate!!
Love squid. I haven't been for a while but quite often to Wirrina cove. Best get there again. Not sure if you have seen my recipe for salt and pepper squid. very nice, you should give it a go sometime.
Mmm squid good stuff, nice at Wirrina, I've tried your curry one that was nice not sure if I tried the other I will have a look thanks Cliff.
Nice video again mate, Squid are awesome food and bait for sure! Love it! I’ve been hitting up the dam for some Yabbies, video to come out shortly. 😁
G'day mate, thank you they certainly are and seem plentiful. looking forward to watching your next video. I too have plans for a yabbie vid later later though. good fun this youtube.
Your videos are awesome wish I could get our there like u do I stay in port Adelaide and fishing around here isn't the best my opinion
Hi brody gardner, I agree mate fishing isn't like it use to be it can be a bit slow sometimes. I'm lucky down hear with a bit of good fishing still on offer. try my burley recipe its on a video it is very good and you know, fish the techniques you need for whatever it may attract, try it in west lakes too if its not to far away. All the best mate. And thank you very much for your comment.
Hi David that cool up look tasty 🤤👨🍳
It was so good both times, I think I prefer the panco crumbs though.
He really wanted to get ya with some ink that first one! Haha another ripper video
G'day CleanAndDisorted thank you mate. That squid did have his eye on me and he was a good shot he got me ha ha. Nice to hear from you again mate.
Thank you for a very interesting and informative vid, tried Wirrina a month or so ago bui my poor old legs and body cant manage the breakwater rocks, I also tried tred Rapid Bay but it was difficult to find a spot.......so many people there!!. Ordered waders, so w[ll try over the weed beds at Normy/Carrakinga........any thpughts??
Rgds......Mike
Hi m robertson-cook, thank you, just above Normy jetty you can catch garfish off the beach also tommies with a float and with worms possible yellowfin whiting also if you cast out along the weed lines along this coast you may get lucky with a king George whiting cockle or squid even pilchard pieces will catch them possible flathead too the other area you mentioned with waders is all good use a float for the gar and tommies my video fishing for garfish with flavours maggots plain maggots are fine shows some tips I shall recommend. Burley is very important and the walk out there isn't too bad. defiantly low tide the lower the better for that area and find an area with ribbon weed to wade on and there is no need to go out too far a little over knee deep is fine. its very pleasant out there. The area where I caught some whiting and mullet is good if you can get some worms. ALL the best mate hope that helps you.
@@davidsheldonfishing9726 Thanks David......Mike
Hi thanks for the great videos, the kids love them. They would like to go to Wirrina for squidding. Is it ok for kids or not safe enough?
Hi Jameson, thanks mate and nice to hear from you again hope your all good and been catching a few fish and enjoying your back yard. I think I will have to leave the one up to you, I personally think 12 to 13 year olds would probably be fine depending if they are well balanced and sensible no rushing and taking risks and like I say look out for them black wet slippy rocks, other than that it should be fine. if it doesn't work out there Second valley Jetty isn't far away for a look. All the best you lot.....David
Hi Dave. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. With this squid set up you have the jag on a loop of line from the main leader. Why a long loop rather than a single line?
Hi Wes, my pleasure mate. The loop is just for easy change over of jags if I fancy trying a different colour, also I took the sinker off the jag and it floats, just about snag proof plus most other jags I use this way have very little weight or no weight at all. Its a half ounce sinker on the bottom. I won't say this way works better but its a great alternative. Cheers David
Great video mate, love your videos, best You Tuber out there you are, awesome 👍 Just a question, I fish Wirrina a bit for squid, what tide chart do you go by? Port Adelaide, Victor etc, cheers?
Hi Frank thank you so much, Google Wirrina cove tide times willy weather and you will be ok. Also can I recommend fishing around the top of the tide or low tide, when the tide slows down is best. Dodge tides are good too. Cheers mate
Dodge tide is the best when weather permits down there. Went 3 weeks ago or so on the dodge tide and got 15 in 2.5hrs, was happy with that. The 2 squid candles are excellent bait for whiting also, they love them, very tender, cut into small strips. I also eat all the squid, tentacles and wings are my favorite. Cheers for the info, appreciate it.
Like 61 from me David 💛
Thank you Lior, I shall be watching your latest video later. All the best mate
Hey Dave,
Drop in new house down the road from you.
Cheers
David I have never tried squidding , I noticed the first one you hauled in inked as you lifted it out of the water , while the others , from what I could see ,didn't. Is there a typical moment that you have to watch out for to avoid being inked ? or do they just squirt at random ? cheers mate
HI dave ha ha thats the fun of squidding, you are always the target and you never know when, it is generally when they are pointing right at you and straight in the face and if they get you in the face its yuck with snotty ink hanging off your nose. Get out and have a go its fun and easy with very little tackle needed. Port Noarlunga jetty can be good Christies beach side just above the steps is the best spot. All the best.....David.
@@davidsheldonfishing9726 Thanks David
Hi David, I noticed you put an extra sinker to your rig. Is it because of the heavy wind and tides? btw, where is this break wall? I went to the outer harbour break wall this morning, got nothing.
wirrina mate
Hi Isaac, no I didn't have a extra sinker on it was a half ounce. It was breezy with the occasional strong gust I was worried my camera was going to blow over and fall down the cracks in the break wall. Yes down on Wirrina break wall I was, sorry you didn't have any luck this morning, next time. It was on the main wharf there where people are not allowed to fish any more a man showed me how to bait up for mulloway he had 2 on the wharf around 15 pounds I was about 15 I think.
Hi Isaac Zhang, sorry mate I just remembered your comment and just realised what you meant. yes I do use a extra sinker but I do remove the sinker off the jag so it floats or I trim the sinker on the jag so its lighter. I like using this rig its a very good alternative. Watch my first fishing Wirrina video if you like I explain this rig at the beginning and mid way through the video. thanks Isaac.
Great video again David. What time of day was this?
G'day Kevin thanks mate, this was around 5pm around one and a half hour before high tide.
@@davidsheldonfishing9726 Thanks mate
