Nice to hear you are enjoying my videos thank you from Australia............David
G'day Perry. The squid jag is a cheap one around 3 dollars, I peel the cloth off it doing that reveals the coloured foil underneath also the sinker simply pulls out when you do this. Hi Joel, thank mate. Give this a go and I'm sure you will be impresses. this way works a treat land based also jetties.
Another fantastic video David! Ill have to give Wirrina a go one day. Do you know what the situation with parking and fishing at the marina is? I remember having a look a while back and seeing signs about no fishing and parking fees, is that no longer the case?
Hi Daniel, thanks mate. You can fish any where you like on the outside of the break wall but there are signs saying no fishing inside the boat marina. you can also park near where you choose to fish with no charge. all the best mate when you have a go.
Hey Dave love your vids very informative just subscribed last time I went there they had no fishing signs so I didn't have a go is the breakwater okay still to fish?
Hi Robert, the no fishing signs are for no fishing on the inside of the boat harbour, they can be a bit miss leading. There is no body in charge of the boat ramp at present and boats are getting a free launch, the local council is going to take charge sooner or later the shop at the boat ramp is closed until whenever, things may have changed but I don't think so. Yes fishing is ok any where on the outside of the harbour, you could probably sneak a cast on the inside after seeing whats going on around there. All the best Robert and thank you for watching commenting and subscribing mate.

Hi Daniel, the squid may be a bit quiet being winter but you could still catch some. for fishing can I recommend float fishing because there is a lot of weed and rocks, if you use burly especially the one I make on my burley video you will see big Drummer and zebra fish, there are also leather jackets if you fish the bottom carefully with a light sinker also Tommy ruff may respond to the burley and possible snook late afternoon using small shallow dive hard bodied lures in pilchard colour. hopefully the water is clear that will be good. All the best Daniel Cheers David.
@@davidsheldonfishing9726 that'll be great. I always find getting that outer slimy coat off a bit of a pain, just thought maybe theres an easier way Cheers👍
Looks like you have removed the weight from the jig . I tried this method but jig kept tangle with line. No weight probably solve that problem. BTW love your videos 👌👌
G'day darren, yes I remove the weight from the cheeper jags or cut them down much smaller. when they are removed they float and you get very few snags. I do get the occasional tangle not many though. On my first video down on Wiring Break wall I go through it a bit at the start and mid way through. Thanks Darren
Hello David, I am trying to figure out the name of your rig. " Floating squid ....(jack) hanging on a dropper loop " The question is how do you tie your rig ? I could see a double line to the squid and a single line to the weight ???
Hi Poh, firstly I tie a swivel on the end of my main line then I tie my trace line to my swivel I use 20lb trace line you can use what you like to use, then I come down about 30cm from that swivel and pinch the line between my fingers and slide my other fingers down about 60cm bring that point back up to your other fingers to form a 30cm loop keep hold of that point and wrap that loop back down your doubled line twice, keep hold of your line and bring it back through the eye you formed by doing that and pull it up tight, now you should have a 30cm dropper loop now continue down your trace line below that dropper about 70-80cm cut off at required length and attach swivel for sinker. then you can attach you floating squid jag to your dropper loop through the eye, just remove the sinker from a old squid jag and it should float, this way of fishing for squid is quite good when you get use to it.
Hi Ytanythinggoes, the line I'm using in this video is 25lb but 12lb-15lb is fine, bear in mind if you have to lift your squid to land them. Some people will say light is better. I personally think squid only have eyes for your squid jag and the line doesn't really bother them.
G'day mate, squid fishing generally starts up in spring (September) and finishes late Autumn (late may) but some places you can catch squid in winter time i.e. Victor Harbour and Port Augusta are a couple of places I know of. Fishing is full of surprises though.
G'day John, yes mate this is the L shaped rocks (break wall) near the port. When you drive in you can park any where except past the gate and climb over the rocks and have a fish you can fish any where on the break wall but we are not allowed to fish in the harbour thats a pitty. Good fishing.
Hi Abi, around 45 seconds into this video I do show the rig I am using also the squid jag I am using has the weight removed so it floats and at 6:47 to 7:06 I have written some tips on how to use this squid fishing technique. All the best with your squid fishing Abi.

G'day mate, I've done a video showing my burley recipe you will have to have a look, it does the trick.
Thanks you for the detail explanation, and I enjoyed every videos of yours 👍
Keep it up and will be looking forward to your next video 👋
@@pcalex5711 thank you , its very rewarding to hear you say that.
You are welcome David and it is ni to see good videos 😉
Hi David , just a question do you use light line for squid ? What’s the ideal line strength to use ie 15 pound or lighter. Cheers 🍻
Hi Ytanythinggoes, the line I'm using in this video is 25lb but 12lb-15lb is fine, bear in mind if you have to lift your squid to land them. Some people will say light is better. I personally think squid only have eyes for your squid jag and the line doesn't really bother them.
David Sheldon Fishing , thank you , much appreciated, can squid be caught all year round or better in some seasons, ie summer as to winter etc.
G'day mate, squid fishing generally starts up in spring (September) and finishes late Autumn (late may) but some places you can catch squid in winter time i.e. Victor Harbour and Port Augusta are a couple of places I know of. Fishing is full of surprises though.
which part of wirrina is is this? is that the L shaped rocks near the port?
G'day John, yes mate this is the L shaped rocks (break wall) near the port. When you drive in you can park any where except past the gate and climb over the rocks and have a fish you can fish any where on the break wall but we are not allowed to fish in the harbour thats a pitty. Good fishing.
I still wondering how you tighten sinker and the bait
Hi Komar Sar, sorry I don't understand what you are asking me. Try to re word it and I will try to answer your question. Cheers David.

Hi Abi, around 45 seconds into this video I do show the rig I am using also the squid jag I am using has the weight removed so it floats and at 6:47 to 7:06 I have written some tips on how to use this squid fishing technique. All the best with your squid fishing Abi.

@@abi1816 My pleasure and thank you and you also take care. I do have a squid fishing and pickling squid video you may find the first 3 mins of that video helpful. Cheers mate.
