I had the exact same. Wanted to give it away as a gift and instantly loved it. Its in my pocket every day and my €200 plus folders are in the closet 😂👍🏼
I own 75 + knives but for some reason I almost always pick up my Rat 1, especially now that I bought a Rat 1 in D2 with Micarta scales. I may have a Bushcraft or hunting fixed blade dangling on my belt but always have the Rat 1 in my pocket. Sharp spine too. Throws sparks like crazy.
I just got my first Rat 1 ever in D2. I'm more impressed that I ever thought I'd be of this knife. It's phenomenal. Thanx for the video my Bladed Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲
I've had my rat 1 in D2 at my side everyday at work for 5 years and I gotta say I've done some things you shouldn't do with your knife a lot and it still works great. Love the full size handle and the thumb stud opens like butter. Simple, tough, effective, and affordable idk what else you could want in a knife.
I've owned 13 Ontario RAT-1 , RAT-2 and utilitac-2s. Every one came with buttery smooth action, rock solid lockup at 40% to 50% and perfect fit & finish and a scalpel sharp edge. Superb knives for the money and compare favorably with other knives costing much more. They're ergonomic, strong, durable and affordable and overall just a great design. Everybody should own atleast 1!
This was my first knife from my dad when I was 10 or 12. He used it on the teams for years before giving it to me and even today the action feels brand new. I've only had to sharpen it a few times also
Got the limited edition carbon fiber handles for 36 bucks won in a auction off eBay (I know the guy personally he’s a seller) and I love this knife, my old work knife was a auto Adamas which is illegal in the city where I work
I’m sold! Needing a cheap, reasonable everyday knife for either work or around the house. No frills or anything fancy… something that is solid and works.
When i open my elementum with the warncliff i thought a spring would fall out lol i know what you mean some just have such good tolerance thats its snappy assisted opening ☺️
My Rat 1 and Rat 2 are my only Aus8 blades. They're not bad. Had my Rat1 for a few years now. A few rust spots but it's a heavy user and has held up well.
It is amazing how often I reach for my RAT 1 when I know that I am going to need a knife for heavy use. Even when I have “Higher Quality” knives available. The RAT just feels so reliable. As for it being made in Taiwan. Ontario’s Fixed blades are or were largely made in the USA. But I think they had to outsource their folding blades.
@@CadillacDriver if they choose to keep it in house. It would have required purchasing a lot of new equipment specific to creating folding knives. Hire and train additional staff, and find a new supply chain for the necessary parts for folding knives. All of which would dramatically increase the cost and the time to market for a segment that they were not sure they could compete in. Which if it worked would have been nice. But I think the risk probably was too high for their business model. So they made the decision to outsource. And they ended up with a good reliable knife at a very reasonable price.
i have 3 in aus8. carry one everyday. love this knife! cant go wrong with it. it was my first flicker knife. when i first got it, i couldnt stop flickin it! i need to get a bone handle now! lol.
I personally love basic simple clean design knives. Just don’t like some of the prices on them. Not a fan of tacky looking knives with goofy handles, and odd blade shapes that look like gas station knives.
If you’re afraid to use any knife because of its cost, it’s not a good knife. A carpenter doesn’t leave his expensive hammer at home. He also doesn’t care if the nails he’s banging are dirty.
Some of us collect knives. I have huge collection. Most of them I use. A few of them I just enjoy owning and using lightly. It’s like having a Rolex. I’m not going to wear a Rolex to do Manuel labor
@@PerceptionVsReality333 idk man. steel wise i’d argue 440c is better than aus8 in edge retention and better than d2 at being stainless. kind of a solid in between. but i’ve never owned that knife so idk if i’d trust a 20$ bar lock rat 1 knockoff.

I have one in Aus 8 and Man it’s probably one of the best I’ve ever owned. Tough as heck
I personally like the minimalist aesthetics of the RAT1 & RAT2 I bought the D2 + carbon fiber scales version three years ago.
they make great stocking stuffers and gifts for friends. I have one in every rig I own just in case lol
It's the Glock/AK of knives.
I have an Rat 2 in AUS-8, it’s sitting in my junk drawer, I think I will pick up another one in D2! Thanks man!
I would try the rat 1 this time around. The rat 2 is not what made this brand famous

I own two and I beat the hell out of both. Best damn knife for the money for Work!!
RAT1 RULES
The scales ain't G10, they're FRN.
Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Lol "had" to outsource.
They CHOSE to.

I have rusty experiences with D2 steel in the past.
Me too! I love the full handle and the shape of the blade. If I know there’s going to be sweat involved, I take the one in Aus 8.
I've had the D2 version for 5 years & never had any rust.
I thought the same thing as you did, now I have 8 of them😂 Mainly give them away as gifts..
My user is a titanium Rat 2

I just got the aus8 but I only gave 10 bucks for it so plus it seems ok for now

Thanks for the review. I’ve got the S35VN version but want the tan D2 version for work.
Man. I have many expensive knives, but I end up using this one the most.
It’s definitely a good one.
@@everydaybladesinc it is:) I switched the belt clip to tip up configuration. Makes it easier to deploy.
Same here. I have a few of these RAT1 knives in different colors.
😊👍 welcome to the club brother 😁👏

I would open the knife another 50 times, just ffs.
You know it. Lol
Shocked this has less views
Ganzo G727. $15 and even better !
In your dreams!
Better...? LMAO no it's not.
@@PerceptionVsReality333 If not better than a better price per value. Bought mine for $13.
