FromSoft have never failed to create nothing but pure hype. This new DLC looks insane, Im sure all the hololive girls will be playing when it comes out.
Doubt it, not the Fromsoft hype but rather the girls all playing the DLC. Of everyone in EN that played Elden Ring only Calli, Watson, and Bijou finished the game.

@@hewhoshallnotbenamed5168 yep, this game really need a chill mode like maybe 4 seamless co op, dont get me wrong playing this solo is a blast, but 4 player co op with the boys is the true experience

hmmm if im remembering correctly, the flow of life and death was disrupted and everyone touched by the grace of gold is immortal, due to the Erdtree. Now of its the shadow of the Erdtree which isn't touched by light since its blocked, I'm willing to bet that this new realm is the equivalent underworld.
Those that live in death are basically immortal beings that seek death but are under the Erdtree's life and thus they still walk; new dlc area might be the true underworld where souls not "recycled" by the Erdtree are sent...
Why am I commenting under a biboo clip? Because she's the one that made me buy the game and now make me pre-order the dlc-
Maybe so. After all, there are those red rays that guide dead warriors to the underworld, on the way to the mountaintop of the giants.
Pretty sure "those that live in death" specifically refers to the undead (skeletons, etc) who are tied to Godwyn. The game consistently makes a distinction between them and regular people who just can't die right due to Marika sealing the Rune of Destined Death. Notably, the Golden Order considers the undead to be abominations whereas just being incapable of dying is okay.

@an Omnidirectional rolling on lock-on, manual attack aiming, powerstancing, stat redistribution. All these things which have become standard, beloved even, features in later From games owe their existence to DS2. So much for that "only good thing to come out of that game" assertion, lol.

All boss in that trailer looks so crazy cant wait for this dlc.
I would assume Messemer is the child of the Gloam-Eyed Queen, given his elongated snake-like features like the Godskin Apostles, and how he seemingly wields the black flame of Destined Death in its full power now that the Rune of Death has been restored.
His dialogue asking his mother if she sanctioned Lordship to the player Tarnished also matches how Melina allows the player to breach the Erdtree, as she is largely believed to be the Gloam-Eyed Queen herself. The official site also states that this is the land Marika first came to, and we know she defeated the other Empyrean, the Gloam-Eyed Queen before many of the other events of the game.
That being said, Mohg worshipped the outer god, the Formless Mother, and Messemer's serpent also has tiny draconic wings sprouting from its body, so it's hard to say what exactly his lineage is or whst new twists we have in store, but I'm excited to see our Rock take them all on!!

Theory: Messmer is miqullas alter ego. When mohg defiled him, the balance in miquella and messmer broke now it's hell in miquellas internal landscape
This is not possible: The plot itself specifies that the Land of Shadows is a place that was once, an integral part of the Lands Between, and which was "disconnected" from it, following a war never told in the annals, which ended after Messmer unleashed his flames to consume everything. And we already know that the period where the Golden Order was involved in wars, was when Godfrey held the title of Elden Lord. So at that time, Messmer was already there.....and Miquella was born instead much later, following Godfrey's exile and Radagon's rise to power as second Elden Lord, as one of the two sons he has had from his union with Marika, together with Malenia. Furthermore, IF even the war in the Land of Shadows had not been part of Godfrey's military campaign, then it would still have occurred at an even earlier point in time, since it is already known that during Radagon's reign, the Golden Order was not involved in any new war, having already conquered the entire Lands Between (at least until the Black Knives Night conspiracy).
THIS is in fact, the biggest mystery relating to Messmer: His aesthetic seems to indicate that like Miquella and Malenia, he is the son of Radagon and Marika.....but chronologically, this is impossible, given that he already existed in a moment of time where Godfrey was still married to Marika, or perhaps even earlier.
So many spoilers jeez, I particularly like the spoiler of the "bow...gun..." variety

Timeline wise, is it happened during, before, or after the MC ending defeating the beast?
I love how initial theories can be mega braindead it's like the community gets all the crap out of the way first before we really dive in. Think Glaive Master Hodir, the meme, the myth, the legend himself. Now it's apparently "Messmer is Rykard's son" (he is confirmed to be Marika's kid and when you consider the timeline is likely to be the original reason why the Golden Order thinks of snakes as traitors, since they hated snakes way before Rykard was ever a thing).
It's fine though, I'm not trying to diss. My own funny joke theory I passed around in a few circles was that Messmer was Radagon's and Gloam-Eyed Queen's kid lol. I just threw it out there in a live chat and people latched onto it for some reason. Too bad it's proven false now, lol. Unless... Well. Radagon and Marika ARE the same person... Nah I'm kidding lol. But I would bet money that we'll get a new subtype of flame magic, be it incantations or sorceries. Likely incantations though, for obvious reasons.
People are already so hyped, it's great. Another cool thing I heard (even if I disagree) is that Miquella is actually the bad guy here. I personally think there could be a scenario where the player can decide to ally with or go against Miquella, but I don't think he's gonna be evil. The main idea was that he's controlling / manipulating the player, which while cool I don't think is the case. But some other neat ideas are that, now that it's also confirmed from an interview that *killing Radahn* will also be a prerequisite for entering the DLC, it seems that Miquella may also have some kind of connection to the stars, like Ranni, and needs them free in order to fulfill his fate. I say it like this because we know the stars don't govern ALL fate, since you can become Elden Lord either way. The world would just stagnate entirely if only the stars dictated what does or doesn't happen. Instead, I think the stars empower those with a special destiny to be able to fulfill it. Like how Ranni seems fated to kill her Fingers, but can't do that until Radahn is defeated, not just because Radahn dying opens the path to the Fingerslayer Blade but also because fate, in the context of the stars, is a necessary component. The item description states that "those without fate" can't wield it, and unless you're serving Ranni, you can't actually open the chest that contains the Fingerslayer Blade.

Mesmer is the secret sibling of Miquella and Malenia, born of Markia and Radagon. I'm pretty sure this is confirmed by Miyazaki himself in an interview.
