Robben is such a gracious person. Back in the Blue Line days, saw him consecutive nights/days at outdoor festivals. The whole band, sound guys, roadies were all approachable. Got the best seat at the board the second day as they remembered me. I've never been remembered by a short visit with a band before. A highlight of my musical journey. Beautiful work Dan. Gotta be special to rub shoulders with as much talent as you do.
Just bought a house so (just for today) I'm more distracted by Robben's wainscoting and butcher block counter tops. My wife said, "you should message him and ask about his experience with butcher block." I said, "Dear... That's Robben Ford."
It’s a joy to watch the maestro at work and the problem solving solutions. Tip of the hat sir. Great to see Mr. Ford, working has magic…some heavily tones emanating from Robben’s fingers, strat and set up. Magical.
What a chore! I just rebuilt my comparatively simple board, including a switcher for the first time ever, and it took the better part of two+ days to get it all working. I am feeling your pain Dan! I am REALLY liking your volume pedal solution, may have to incorporate the same idea. Great work! Am a big Robben Ford fan too.
An amazing job well done! Great to see the problem solving being applied and a master of his trade in action (both Dan and of course Robin). Having rebuilt my board many times over, the gag about the patch leads had me giggling. And though this was filmed a while back, I heard from TPS central that Dan is better and back on the horse - good news!
I love seeing the pedalboard of a rock legend and seeing he has the same $99 import midi controller I use. I laugh, but also the Ampero Control is a great unit.
Nice one chaps, well done Dan! I spent a month putting my board together 😄 Albeit after the kids were down and I’d have time to solder a couple of cables and would come back a day or two later and do another. Have a great weekend, hope you’re feeling better Dan!!
To Robben: highly recommend the trem arm spring that goes in between the block and the arm. It allows the arm to stay where you put it while still being completely movable. Prevents having to search for the arm mid-play. Game changer for me anyway. It's a Hank Marvin essential too. He knows a thing or two about use of the Strat trem ;)
I usually flip the door/cover on the wah. That way you can get a good amount of dual lock or Velcro and you also don’t mess up the label or serial number
Loving Dan's solution to Robben being able to add in his external volume pedal whenever needed but it just operates as a "standard" board the rest of the time. I think I need to look into copying that little beauty of a trick!
I knew I would learn something watching this video. What I didn't know is that I'd learn that Dan gets as fatigued and annoyed at rebuilding pedal boards as I do. 😅
With cables getting reversed, I used to do that loads then I switched to the Evidence Audio solderless plugs. I use the silver ones for pedal input and black ones for pedal output. This way I don't have to mess with labels (which eventually fall off) but I always know which is the input and which is output.
Hopefully a helpful suggestion Dan. It really stressed me out seeing you using metal scissor blades to lever off the pedals because they are almost guaranteed to chip paint off the pedal and damage the board itself. A much better solution is to use hard nylon car trim panel removal tools, a varied set of which can be purchased for a few quid from Amazon etc. Because the kits include different sizes and shapes of levers, you are guaranteed to find the right one, even for tight spaces between pedals🤘🏻 Btw I hate any form of Velcro or tape fixing methods, and am really getting good results from a bracket fixing system🎸
Hey guys, awesome video, loads of knowledge and beautiful tones as always, but I gotta say that 20mins of TPS show a week is not enough of a dose for my addiction 😅, cheers!
You now Dan is going to be at the pub in a few decades casually name dropping how he built a pedalboard for Robben Ford. "So it was a day like any other day when I get a call from Robben Ford. He and I go way back. So I said, 'Hey, Robbie. How are you? How's that Dumble?'" haha. If only we could be so lucky.

Next addition to the Gigrig product lineup: Dan's special butter knife.
Wow, Dan, so much respect to your hard work and endurance. The most of us would have need days for thinking and doing this what you made in a half day! You really made all cables new? And the timeline and the reverb is always in the signalpath?
The chances that a previously used patch cable is the correct length for the new setup are the same as 10 monkeys on typewriters eventually producing a copy of The Complete Works of Shakespeare
@ Yep, he’s definitely played with a Strat in his career. I was referring to a recent interview on RUclips, talking about his guitars, where he said “never a Strat”.
I also like the boost after the gain pedals, I use it for more volume on the solos. I am considering changing the boost for an EQ, any thoughts on that change would be greatly apreciated. On my board I have the gain before the Delay, but I am sure that Ford has his reasons for putting it after.
Robin Ford once said on a podcast in reference to Stevie Ray Vaughn,*why would I listen to his music when could just listen to Albert King or Jimi Hendrix*
Hey mate, did you not have to use different screws on the wah pedal? On crybabies you can’t take the feed off and use the same screws to reattach the cover plate because they’re too long and the cover plate fit tight to the pedal.
Well done, Dan. It's amazing how these build videos can be so inspiring. Is that a standard QMX 6? My eyes must be playing tricks. Maybe because mine's a 10, but the profile and edges look a little different.
With all the DIY patch cable options on the market, why do none of them do colourful cables (same for DC cables?)? What if I want colour coordination for easy fault finding, or just for the aesthetic? Why not a hot-pink-everything metal board?
Sounds great! So glad to see our products in the hands of a true legend.
Robben or Dan (or both)?
@@williamrpetrie Absolutely both!
@MadProfessorPedals can you make me a dual blue delay? My friend had one amd it was just what I need! Thanks
Wait until Robben tries a Mad Professor Supreme with his new Strat. Such a brilliant pedal for Strats.
I'm not a legend, but I love the Sweet Honey Overdrive!!
Robben Ford just went into Andertons and bought a Strat.
I'm just like Robben Ford!!!
Mine is a Squier Bullet :)
Oh man, that’s really fun seeing a guitar legend’s pedal board build and then watch him take it for a spin.
Robben is such a gracious person. Back in the Blue Line days, saw him consecutive nights/days at outdoor festivals. The whole band, sound guys, roadies were all approachable. I love it when a board comes together! Cheers Dan and Robben!!
My favourite kind of TPS show :)
GigRig Dan the pedalboard-man to the stars!
Nice work; appreciate you sharing the knowledge and your process.
Cheers!
Nonchalantly drops into spieil - 'picking Robben up in the morning'. You legend Dan 😉
Wonderful, what a joy to listen to Robben Ford
This was a treat today! I love Robben and His board looked and sounded amazing Dan! Great job! You have a great job Dan!
Just bought a house so (just for today) I'm more distracted by Robben's wainscoting and butcher block counter tops. My wife said, "you should message him and ask about his experience with butcher block." I said, "Dear... That's Robben Ford."
Awesome video. Would never have put Robben & Ring Mod together, but what fun sounds 👌
glad to see Zach got the current version of the argo onto Robben's board 😁
Sounds fantastic. That Zen Drive adds the perfect touch, the 65 strat is amazing. Glad you are feeling better Dan. 👍🎸😎🙏🏼✌️
Love your work, Dan - what a dream gig to tone chaperone for Robben. And awesome to hear him on the Strats!
Who doesnt love a good board build to start the weekend off… lucky you knew a guy that could give it a little test run at the end 😂
It’s a joy to watch the maestro at work and the problem solving solutions. Tip of the hat sir.

It’s amazing how great talent playing a great guitar through a great pedal board into a great amp can sound… great! 😊
Amazing . What a joy getting a glimpse into the process and seeing Robben in his home, very cool
Came for the tones, but I love that color choice on the walls at Robben's place!
Great job Dan! These videos always teach me what I can do better on my boards.
I love seeing the pedalboard of a rock legend and seeing he has the same $99 import midi controller I use. I laugh, but also the Ampero Control is a great unit.

Love the change of pace! Great simple video with some good tone and knowledge nuggets. Get well soon Dan!
The best part of this video is that Dan appears healthy again. Mick is getting lonelier is recent videos methinks.
You’re so cool, Dan.
Simply lovely! makes me want to get a Delux reverb even more now from his playing at the end
I usually flip the door/cover on the wah. That way you can get a good amount of dual lock or Velcro and you also don’t mess up the label or serial number
Thanks leg-ends highly enjoyable watch. Always get new tips whenever you do a board build. Sounds killer too!
Amazing board, nice one Dan! 🎶
Loving Dan's solution to Robben being able to add in his external volume pedal whenever needed but it just operates as a "standard" board the rest of the time. I think I need to look into copying that little beauty of a trick!
Nice to see at least one of those expensive Custom Shop Strats that Andertons keep getting in is getting played on stage.
Great episode 👌
I knew I would learn something watching this video. What I didn't know is that I'd learn that Dan gets as fatigued and annoyed at rebuilding pedal boards as I do. 😅
Pedalboard Tetris…you’re good at it Dan! Well done!
Love his house slippers. Rock and Roll.
I thread a small cable tie through the rubber wah feet and store them inside the enclosure.
Privileged to be able to spy on the backstage of such a guitarist. Thanks Dan!
Dan, the man, please ask Robin to play through your dnm Drive! Right now, it is my most favorite pedal!
With cables getting reversed, I used to do that loads then I switched to the Evidence Audio solderless plugs.
I use the silver ones for pedal input and black ones for pedal output.
This way I don't have to mess with labels (which eventually fall off) but I always know which is the input and which is output.
Wow! Great video. Now I need a More or Less!! . . .or 2. . .
Robben plays one note and you can immediately hear the difference. He has such an amazing and soulful touch!!
Coffee in hand, this is great and much needed positive start to the day!
☕ didn't work, I'm going back to bed...
Highly recommend a wah mounting plate. Saves the bottom of your wah pedal too.
My word that guitar, board and amp sound glorious. Player ain’t bad either 😂😂
That strat is amazing
Amazing work Dan!
And that strat is 😍
Hopefully a helpful suggestion Dan.

Yummy yummy TPS for my goblin brain. Excellent show!
Where is the other hour of this show! LOL. Kidding. This was amazing as ever.
Hey guys, awesome video, loads of knowledge and beautiful tones as always, but I gotta say that 20mins of TPS show a week is not enough of a dose for my addiction 😅, cheers!
More content like this please!

I think Mr Ford needs a Foxy Tone Box to match those cushions😂

Love these videos!
great stuff Danno
15:00 “nine hours (and who can do it less in) // By haughty Daniel spent in cabling…”
The chances that a previously used patch cable is the correct length for the new setup are the same as 10 monkeys on typewriters eventually producing a copy of The Complete Works of Shakespeare
18:46 i thought he bursted into “the entertainer”!
And right at the end, everyone put on their coat and made a run for it to Anderton's to see if they had any more of those Strats knocking about!😅
Rip it up and start again 🎵
Robben "Never a Strat!" Ford!
He played a Strat with Miles.
@ Yep, he’s definitely played with a Strat in his career. I was referring to a recent interview on RUclips, talking about his guitars, where he said “never a Strat”.
thank fuzz it's friday!
Volume AFTER the delay? Interesting!!

Might I recommend replacing the Micro POG with a Pico POG. That will save some space
Go Robben Go!
may I ask, why the more or less and the boomster? both clean boosts that take expression pedals
Pedalboards ain’t cheap for these pro players. A few grand worth of hardware, and 6/7 hours + of Dan’s time must be worth a few quid!
I hope I am amazing too. Unfortunately, I am unusually way below average :).
Robin Ford once said on a podcast in reference to Stevie Ray Vaughn,*why would I listen to his music when could just listen to Albert King or Jimi Hendrix*
Robben. Vaughan.
What connectors did you use for the midi connectors on the Ampero? They are super low profile.
Nice!
Hell yeah!
Hey mate, did you not have to use different screws on the wah pedal? On crybabies you can’t take the feed off and use the same screws to reattach the cover plate because they’re too long and the cover plate fit tight to the pedal.
Yeah man, I hate that!! Floppy bottomplate!!!
Power booster / overdriver pedals like the throbak are so underrated!
Ps. What cable do you use for pedalboards? I have to rewire mine 😅
Chers mate. Evidence Audio Monorail 👍
❤❤❤
Ooooo what's that cool green tele?
The Manson? I assume that's Graham Coxon's signature Manson, he talks about it in the GC TPS episode.
Well done, Dan. It's amazing how these build videos can be so inspiring. Is that a standard QMX 6? My eyes must be playing tricks. Maybe because mine's a 10, but the profile and edges look a little different.
Cheers G, yep, stock QMX6 🙏
@@ThatPedalShow My eyes must have played tricks. I LOVE my QMX!!!
“What’s on the board Mr Ford”?
What bonding solution do you use please? And also what are those cable tidy things under the board? Thanks!
3m dual lock and do a search for "cable tie mounts or zip tie mounts" on google
With all the DIY patch cable options on the market, why do none of them do colourful cables (same for DC cables?)? What if I want colour coordination for easy fault finding, or just for the aesthetic? Why not a hot-pink-everything metal board?
Yay a interesting video boo too short
Lovely work! Graham left a Mason behind too?
Sure did, soooo much fun!!!
Yay!
Use the smaller POG -problem solved.
What kind of board is that?
What’s the 1st in the chain………….meeeeeee 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Maybe it's just me, but...isn't the volume pedal on the 'wrong' side?
ps
Nice one, mate.
It’s where Robben wanted it 👍
Has Robben moved to London?! 😮
He's been there a year or so, moved for his partner I believe.
London though ... *Insert Meat Loaf lyric here*
@bucklberryreturns oh I thought he was still in Nashville. Maybe being a few miles away from him will somehow make me play like him?
@RiperSnifle Pretty much yes, but only if you use a black cat as a loofah on a Tuesday while it's full moon.
@@bucklberryreturns I'll give it a go!
Using scissors to lift the pedals from the board? UGH Metal on Metal chipping just waiting to happen.
Ha that stressed me out too - see my separate comment about it and my solution🤘🏻
Brain food!
Ring Mod sounds like a broken trash can echo.
Pretty annoying to be honest. At about 20:32 this video ends and I’m not happy about it.
I thought I did a pretty decent job with my pedalboard, but compared to this my board looks like a war zone. 🫣
