    Absolutely brilliant, thank you. In a couple of weeks, I will be having my Vocal Process Granuloma removed for a second time, after regrowing. You have given me more information than my specialist has. This has given me ideas for me to help myself to perhaps prevent it recurring. If it does, I am now aware that I could leave it to possibly have it heal itself. Thanks very much, I have more knowledge now to be able to discuss some things with my specialist.

      @GamerVidz i have same condition since past 2 months, at first it started with a little pain while speaking, but i didn't care and still misused my voice like shouting etc. Then it increased and my left ear also started paining. Then it's been 2 months i have taken various antibiotics but it didn't help. Now doctor has given me Sucralfate (it treats ulcer) and Omeprazole (for GERD), i don't know it i am getting relief or not, it's been 15 days since i am taking the medication and very little relief. Just the pain that went to my ear has reduced a little. What about you ? What symptoms did you have?

      @GamerVidz man my condition is the same, pain in left ear, not paining while i swallow, but pain in left side of throat and left ear too. How many months did it take you to completely go? I think it happened cause i have a very low pitch voice, like when people hear me and see me in person they think it was 2 different people, that low lol. And i also use my voice alot, i had to shout while playing football etc so deep voice + shouting did it. That's the only reason i have cz I don't smoke nor drink.

I get pain when I speak or sing to loud or too high, or especially when I say a "k" or hard "c", and I've heard conflicting things about whether this could be contact ulcers.

    • @finn3102
      @finn3102 Год назад +1

      You have to be patient, because it can take many months to heal. Even with medication, because the granuloma is always in a process of healing and re-injury as you go about daily vocal use. You need your voice to live & work, so you have to use it. Just get as much vocal rest as possible. Meaning, don't talk when you don't have to. My granulomas come and go, and can take 9 to 10 month to heal.

    I was just diagnosed with a vocal granuloma by my ENT doctor this week. I had no symptoms at all and actually went to see him for another issue. I have never heard of it before, but I am sure I caused it by singing aggressively.
    I was a bit shocked to be prescribed two nasal inhalers and two acid reflux medications for the condition, but upon further research I see that this prescription is actually in line with most articles and studies I've read.
    I don't sing anymore and I also would clear my throat constantly throughout the day.
    My initial thought is to skip the prescribed medications and to stop my throat clearing and abstain from loud talking and limit caffeine. If that doesn't work I will try the medications I guess.
    I have to return to the ENT in a month for a follow up.

    • @versatile0276
      @versatile0276 2 года назад

      @Derrick Jensen Thanks for the reply, Derrick. Yes, after doing some of my own research I understand why it would be important to prescribe acid reflux medication. Even if I don't have any acid reflux symptoms, just the possibility of having too much acidity in my stomach could be rising up to my throat area when lying down or digesting. The acidity as far as I've researched is a possible reason that the granuloma can have problems healing.
      I think I'm going to try using both the nasal inhalers and the acid reflux medications my doctor has prescribed and see how things go.
      It's now been 3 days since I've cleared my throat, which I learned, is also horrible to do, as it also keeps the granuloma from being able to heal.

      @@preetam_laskar hello, Preetam. Yes, my granuloma healed enough and was small enough on my visit this summer that my ENT was happy. His only concern was that it could be cancerous if it kept growing, but it did not.
      My basic conservative treatment was:
      1) no throat clearing. I didn’t clear my throat for about a year and still haven’t.
      2) I cut my coffee down from 3 to 4 cups a day to 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. (The doctor believes this was drying my throat out and I was dehydrated which was stopping the healing process).
      3) Stopping eating around 7/8 pm each night so there wouldn’t be too much acid reflux when I slept. (On the weekends I would still eat/drink pretty much whatever I wanted)
      4) I did use the Flonase inhaler that he gave me. It kept my breathing easy and I think might have helped when I was sleeping so I wouldn’t breathe through my mouth.
      5). Staying a little extra hydrated. Nothing crazy. Even 1 glass extra of water per day.
      6) No shouting. I would yell/shout while watching sporting games.
      7) No singing. Even though I’m not really a singer, I would sing idea for music I would be working on.

      @@versatile0276 thanks for sharing your experience I'm diagnosed with this last week along with LPR acid reflux causing by H. Pylori bacteria, chronic tonsillitis, antral gastritis. Doctor gave me HP kit for my reflux for 14 day which is going through after that corticosteroid (steroids) for granuloma. • @versatile0276
      @versatile0276 Год назад +1

      @@preetam_laskar My doctor and I took a very conservative approach. If you research the vocal granuloma, you will see that surgery is often unsuccessful, so other treatments/medications are almost always used first. My doctors approach was very conservative because my vocal granuloma was not causing any problems for me. We found it accidentally while doing an examination for something else. Because my granuloma wasn’t changing my vocal ability we were mainly concerned with it just being benign. We started off with two acid reflux medications and two nasal inhalers and diet change for a few months which did make it smaller but I didn’t want to take the acid reflux medication any longer. So, I stopped taking everything for a few months and started eating and drinking regularly again. Then the granuloma returned to the original size so my doctor and I discussed possibly doing a biopsy if it kept getting bigger. I wanted to then try a very conservative treatment first, which was the Flonase, diet change, and staying hydrated. After a few months the granuloma had gotten smaller in size so my doctor and I were happy to not do a biopsy. It is smaller now and we have just left it alone. I don’t mind if it is there. I will go back to get it looked at next year.

      I don't think typical talking/ singing are harmful. Harsh throat clearing or "grinding" kind of singing not recommended, however. These may take a long time to heal. Occasionally a small nubbin that causes no trouble remains indefinitely.

      More commonly than ear pain, a "pinprick" or "pinch" on the side of the granuloma is often a part of this disorder. A person may pick up the phone to say "hello," for example, and feel that pinching sensation. It does refer to the ear in some for sure. I am speaking of what has occurred in my patients, and of course leave it between you and your doctor to follow this issue for you. Healing can take several months, as described in this video.

      Unexplained pain needs careful evaluation, especially lasting this long. You should be examined without delay. Granulomas are more often caused by aggressive coughing or an endotracheal tube. The pain of contact ulcers is often a sudden “pinprick” mid-neck to the side, more than constant pain…

      @Derrick Jensen wtf? 8 months and still having pain. I am have pain since 3 months. It started as i pinch type feeling whenever i spoke. But i didn't care as nobody thinks that it's an ulcer. But after a month of still shouting and speaking loudly the pain increased, at first it was only when i spoke but now it was 24/7. And my left side ear also started paining. Now it's 3 months and i mean the pain is only a little bit less. The day when I don't speak much I don't feel much pain(but there is always a little). But even if i speak normally like normal talking, that day the throat pain and left ear pain increases and i have to keep quiet for another 1-2 days. What about you? What type of a pain do you feel? Is your pain 24/7 or only while speaking and then you're normal when you don't speak?

    • @AXiOS007
      @AXiOS007 2 года назад

      @Derrick Jensen ya, my voice is completely normal. No voice change, but only change is that I'm having voice cracks more often now, when i speak slowly i have mich voice cracks as I'm seriously not used to speak much slowly. I was always the one with loud voice. So when i speak slowly(as that's the only way to speak now) i have voice cracks. And i have a very low pitch voice and shouting with a really low voice was also a task for my vocal chords so i thing they just couldn't handle that much lol.

    • @AXiOS007
      @AXiOS007 2 года назад

      @Derrick Jensen i tried doing the breath out while talking thing. But that doesn't sound like my normal voice, it sounds way too different. I cringed out doing that. Even if my pain goes down to a level that it comes only when i talk, i will be relieved that it's healing because at this time the ear and throat pain is 24/7 continuous even when I'm not talking. It is less when I don't talk for a day but not completely gone. I hope i get better with these antacids and multivitamins given to me by the doctor. And thanks for telling me about your story. I got to know about this alot. I talked to someone before in the same video's comments. His granuloma healed after 6-8 months after taking antacids like I'm taking, but he took much more precautions. He didn't even talk for 2 weeks to give rest to his Larynx. I talk everyday, not much but still i can't hold myself. His one healed and yours came back after a year. His condition was more like me, even he had continuous pain in ear and throat like me. You just have irritation while you speak. He took 2 types of antacids. I've only been given one that is Rabeprazole. When your pain disappeared for a year or so. Were you completely fine? I mean could you talk loudly and even shout at that time?

      My problem is acid reflux also along with this throat granuloma, I've read in a comment that it takes long time to get cured, is it true? As I'm suffering from last 3 months.
