This video was fascinating! I thought I knew everything there is to know about fuel and tire characteristics, but I've learned so much from this. My favorite part was how the nitromethane despite packing less energy per kg than gasoline, it gives better performance because significantly more of it may be used due to the reduced oxygen needs.
How much force is lost, or should I say, how much of the force that is produced by tire folding goes directly back into unfolding the tire? Does that cause a reduction in the overall force applied to terra firma? If so, are there different tire designs that address this?
Technically top fuel dragsters have a CVT. Their tires act like a continuously variable transmission and allow the dragster to hit optimal performance.
