Hello, my friends! Let's hit 20K likes? Check out my website! enderman.ch
Today I am going to show you how to open all previously unsupported archive file formats like .rar, .tar.gz, .7z and so on. Even though it's horribly janky and definitely a beta-stage feature pushed into production, I'll show you how to backport it to Windows 10 and enjoy the features previously thought to be Windows 11 only.

4:00 This happened because you were starting Explorer as SYSTEM/TrustedInstaller in a user session, where it will crash then reloads as user. It does make you lose the wallpaper for some reason.
(At least on newer versions, I haven't tested on older ones).
It is different in older Versions
You should do a series where you backport Windows 11 features back to Windows 10.

Someone already ported modern Paint to Windows 10
5:56 The reason why it reads file names "incorrectly" is because the archive itself (.xz without .tar) doesn't store any kind of file names/file system (that is being stored by tar format), it's just that one single file being compressed. Explorer and pretty much any kind of (de)compression utility would have to get the file name somehow, so it used the filename of compressed file itself and then remove .xz extension.
It might also be the reason why drag and drop didn't work, because that filename doesn't exist.
6:46 ZipCrypto support is from XP era, .7z support from libarchive AFAIK doesn't have password protection support (yet). libarchive#1443, not Windows' fault.
the latest feature brought to you by Micro$oft!, RARs in explorer, but upgrade to windows 11 first
Windows 11 is such a catastrophy. You notice everywhere that Microsoft just slapped a new gui layer over everything. Its so bloated.
It’s the kind of thing they used to force people to upgrade to windows 11
@@UndercoverDogyeah
People when they have to upgrade to get the latest feature:🤯
Windows 11 is a bloaded unofficial version of Windows 10 so its features can be esaily ported to Windows 10
No thanks, I'll just use 7-Zip. It's much faster and can actually support a huge range of archive extensions.
Even if I use Windows 11 (which I won't), I'd still see myself using 7-Zip...
so happy the functionality that was meant to be put in 10+ years ago is finally here :)
6:07 Edge: hello there
6:12: A wild Microsoft Edge appeared
I don’t get it…all I see is a picture of a cat
Good video, but I also wanted to point out, that files from newer versions of Windows 11 may work as well, and may offer better support for the archives you had issues opening beforehand. I only tested it with 23493's files, as it's the oldest version, so it would have the biggest chance of being supported in Windows 10. I recommend to try with newer files, if you want to. But still, nothing will replace 7-Zip. (oh and TC4Shell did it before Microsoft did)
Honestly, the silly kitties made the video twice as entertaining, PLEASE keep putting random cat pics in them 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Just as superior as the other videos!
enderman: kinda serious video

Anyways, 7zip and winrar compress and decompress more speedly than explorer.exe (my experience with hdd windows 10 and a slooooow celeron of 2019)
As far as I know, it's because 7z is multithreaded, so it will use many cores of your processor. Windows Explorer's compression code is single threaded, for some reason
The ones with incorrect filenames are simply compressed with an algorithm that doesn't support filenames and multiple files.
You know it is a great time when Enderman uploads
Finally new exciting video from enderman!
6:11 Microsoft Edge on the desktop came to look at the cat.
It's good that he managed to recover the images of his favourite "pisi"'s.
glad to see our professional license temperer back on the show

Using insider might support more path of zipped files, though it’s still unsupported to open locked file.
But things will get well soon, join insider program will give you more features preview, maybe you can use that features soon!
This was so helpful!
bro the premier didnt even start yet

Wasn't compressed file support already included in Plus! 98?
Epic as always
Enderman never fails to make us happy!
Welcome back, enderman
I know this is an old video but can you backwards compatible this even more? Like on Windows 7 or even Windows Vista/XP?
I'm actually wonder how does it even load these DLLs.
The win10 explorer.exe file doesn't ask for those to be linked to it, so why and how are they even loaded in the first place?
Does the Windows kernel just loads every single dll it can find in System32 and tries to link it with whatever process it thinks might be good for it?
Windows 10 already has the same DLLs but with less features.
Great video!
he’s finally back!!!
Kitty! Honestly I'm both surprised and not surprised they didn't just steal someone else's code like they eventually learned they needed to with the chromium based edge browser.
The og guy is back
6:11 Microsoft Edge: HI!
it is, the one, and only, endermanch.
3:34 Excuse me? Batch is the best language ever made. God propably created that language. Nobody will change my opinion
Amazing. Another super helpful video from Endermanch.
Hi Enderman I have an pretty big Virus Collection could you add it to yours? (The .exe’s aren’t Zipped)

Hey how about that corrupted windows installation that I sent you an email about?

Hello! Is there a way to backport Windows 11 task manager to 10? Would love to know the way
I loved when you had to get the Premium 50M$ bundle of windows 11.5 to get rar support
The silly cats were the best part of the video :)
where i can find this cool mouse cursor?
I only change the extension ( .7z to .zip ) and it works. ( Read mode only ) I used a newest version of Windows 10
ENDERMANCH!?
Hi good you restarted uploading again videos!
WELCOME BACK! Again...
Hi!!! i LOVE YOU And your videos!!!
I rate this video... 5 silly cats out of 7 (because you recovered 5 silly cats).
I use PeaZip as well as 7-Zip. The UI is a bit buggy, but its very useful.
PeaZip seems quite nice for devoces where 7-zip GUI doesn't run
There might have been a reason you didn't but when applying those reg files reg import would just import them without asking.
I wonder if Enderman will do a video on Windows NT 3.1 April 1991 build?
What are the .af* file formats?
Can we get a download link of the silly cat images
People install 7-Zip. Its tons better than the built-in Windows zip utility, its free and open source and can unzip all supported file formats. About the only thing File Explorer handles well is zip. files.
do you have a file making everything reverted? i just do this on my host pc, my explorer.exe keep crashing! edit: you just do a reboot
the enderman has a santa cap . nice
Whats the point? Most ppl are trying to get away from the behavior to open archives in explorer
Oh man, watching you want me to learning about like programming stuff, understanding machine work and do stupid experiment to Microsoft os xD
very silly cats, 10/10
A new video of Enderman makes my day ❤
This would work for bulk importing reg files with batch.
for /f %i ('dir /b') do reg import %i
MERRY CHIRTSMAS LET GOOO
Is this possible on windows 11 23h2?
0:33 It AIN'T GONNA work on earlier versions, I've tested that
nice
HE'S BACK!! HE'S FINALLY BACK!!! THE LEGEND IS BACK!
Yes
YOOO ENDERMAN VID
ok but where can i find the silly cat pictures
thank goodness im watching on linux live install
Does this work on windows 7
It cannot open password protected compressed files
Now microwave should give us ext4 support or sshfs in explorer.
after it gonna be fixed im gonna try it on my pc
System informer is the successor to process hacker
backwards compatible coz' Windows 11 is just Windows 10 w/ another skin(and extended support)
There's more change than just a UI
like what mr rage baiter@@phonl1
W Premiere!!
Aftermath : finally we can open unarchive file without 7zip or winrar!
they still better

Great video as always!
Windows 11 is pretty bad, and sadly M$SOFT will not bring this feature to Windows 10. But, we can do it. With community support, we can bring old systems back to life(Like winxp with onecoreapi)
I cant wait for Windows 12. If its not a complete overhaul, well... im using Linux already.
use macOS!
@@windows10technicalpreview Screw OSX. Everything but that piece of closed-source and feature-less crap.
Edit: I refuse to ever buy an Apple device, if not required by my team or school. Alone for the fact, that I can not choose my own OS on Apple silicon is a no-go. Multitasking is the living hell on MacOS because no real window snapping - seriously? This piece of crap called Siri also exists, and it cant even do much. And then there is this thing, called "walled garden" forcing me to get more Shittle products for everything to work. On Windows and Linux, I have most or every choice I want.
