His bio was retconned for MGS3 and changed the DOB from 1922 to 1935

9:20 Funnily enough what Emma says here is completely untrue. Digital information has a really short lifespan. If not properly preserved, digital files will either suffer from spontanious bit rot or be made obselete by their producing corporations, and as such, they may not be openable in as little as 5 years. On the other hand, paper materials last upwards of a hundred years. It's a misconception that most people have that digital material will last longer than analog.
My guess is that he meant if digital information is properly stored inside a network of computers, server farms, cloud etc.
@@GeorgeSalonikh True. The Patriots A.I. would have been much more secure and less at risk from Emma's worm if it had been backed up with multiple copies in separate geographic areas.

I remember when I got to the mountains in Death Stranding I refused to give up the truck since it helped in hauling so much cargo at once. I eventually found optimized routes to get to just about anywhere in the mountains since the truck's physics are so easily abuse-able and just traveled those exclusively.

Wait, they retconned the Ocelot/Liquid thing twice? I didn't even know they did it once. I can take a guess and say that Ocelot possibly being a spirit medium because of The Sorrow is one but I don't know what the other is.
First one is the spirit medium thing (I think), second one is the thing where Ocelot was only pretending/hypnotized himself to believe that he was possessed by Liquid in MGS4 because of how ambiguous it is when he switched from being actually possessed to being pretend possessed (or if there was any real possession at all).
@@Optimore See I'm not sure if that's a retcon because the story implies that there was a legit possession going on while Liquid's arm was attached to Ocelot but then after the events of 2, Ocelot had the arm removed and replaced with a standard prosthetic so the possession went away and then proceeded to have himself brainwashed into believing that Liquid took full control of his personality as some kind of tactic against the Patriots. So I think it's less of a retcon (since it doesn't contradict any prior established lore) and more of a reason to not have to do the constant mind-switching that was in 2. In 4, it's all Liquid and that's that.

when mgs2 came out the people that complained the most about not playing as snake were the same people that nowadays will call any fanbase "toxic" for disliking a choice made by a dev, these are the same people that bullied the guy that played young darth vader online and now will call you a "sexist" if you dislike the new star wars, i personally expected to play snake at any moment but by the end of the game i liked raiden, it was the same for most of my friends and school friends and older brothers, we all thought having snake as some kind of mentor in the game was awesome but the game was way too crazy for 12yo me
I actually love playing the Plant way more than the Tanker, and MGS2 is my favorite Metal Gear. Ill never forget being a kid, and thinking the colonel was actually telling me to turn off my PS2 😅

Man, it was really sad hearing the second voice actors panel today at MGSCON! 2 deliver a fatwa on the use of AI voice mimicking. If anyone else was there today leave a comment on your thoughts.
Mine is: an exception should be made for in-character and lore-respecting content like this. David Hayter isn’t losing work to this, just like he didn’t lose work to someone screaming “crab battle” for a flash animation years ago.
But if you do something like, use a character’s voice to narrate an entire like… video game facts compilation, then you should eat shit.
Spoof the character, don’t steal the voice.
Even if i could go bankrupt hiring david hayter to do a one hour video narrating metal gear solid facts, he can't do the 2001 Solid Snake voice that i need anymore. Nothing wrong with that, people age and their voice change. A.I can now act as a time capsule to bring back performances lost to time, both from aging actors and those who have passed, but i guess the first thing they think of is losing their job to a 2-bit youtuber?
