This is up at Cowles NM... I only caught one "big one it was out of that bigger pond... its been a long time since I've been there...thanks for the memories
Yup me n my wife also went n checked out ur spot it's really nice up there alot to look at , thanks also wanted to say on our way there 😂 we past the atm they have someone tried to steal the cops had it all blocked the guy had a big chain connected to the Truck but the atm was still standing 😵🫣😬🥶
When did the rules change? That section of the Pecos River, starting just above the Mora Confluence to Cowles and beyond, used to be Special Water; single barbless hook, no bait fishing.
Not sure about rule changes, but there are still a lot of sections along the river that are special trout waters. I know most of the tributaries that flow into the Pecos are as well
The Brown Trout are wild. Sometimes you will catch a young wild Rainbow but most of the time they are stocked. Game and Fish usually stocks the Pecos River weekly. Check out the NM Game & Fish Website and they will tell you fishing reports and stocking reports. Hope that helps bud 👍
Hey bro love your vids man. They really influence and my son. want to go all over n fish… going to pecos tomorrow how are the bites on panther martins? Or were the worms better
Yessir u were fished a good slow pool in the river from 7-6 caught fish all day long on worms and when we ran out caught on power bate no bobbers tho tried adding those they didn’t want to bite with them on
I was born and raised in Las Cruces and ( living down south ) we used to go to Mescalero to stream fish, but I'm living in Kansas now and Mesca is a bit too far to go on a chance they'll be biting. What is the access like up there in Jemez?? Is it 4x4's only or could I make it there using my 2000 1/2 ton Silverado??
Thanks for watching bud and I appreciate the comment! Access on the Jemez is great. The roads are all paved and there are lots of area's to park, hike, camp, and fish. Shouldn't have any problems at all. Always a great area all year round!
Do you just walk up n down that path looking for for spots to fish or do u have e ur own spots u go to first? Also is it cold up there in jemez I see u wear ur sweater alot? Just asking cus I wanna go check out that spot 😊
I usually start fishing near Cowles and work my way down the river toward the town of Pecos hitting different holes I think will hold fish. In Jemez I usually get there early in the mornings and it can be a little chilly. Usually take the sweater off after a while lol
Nice vid...BUT! Those aint wild fish, EVERY single one is a stocker. I have fished every yard of the Pecos for 30 years, If you want WILD fish in the Pecos, put on your daypack and hike 5 miles in to the headwaters above JACKS CREEK CAMPGROUND, you are then in the PECOS headwaters, only then are you catching WILD, UNSTOCKED trout. It is well worth the effort, the fish are gorgeous.
@andrewmaunders5207 thanks for the comment...BUT! I only seen one rainbow in this video and the rest brown trout. Last I checked, they don't stock browns in Pecos. I've never ever seen brown trout on any stocking report come to think about it.... I've been to Jack's creek as well. 👍
@@nmangling Hey ...that was fast! Well they certainly did stock Browns for many years from Lisboa Springs hatchery in Pecos...I am mostly a flyfisher but your ultralight spin gear is a fun way to go too... Either way, get yer self up to the headwaters if you can,,,amazing area. Chow my friend!
As a fellow fisher of the Pecos, thank you for gently releasing these trout so they can live. Well done!
Yes sir! Thanks for watching bud!
@@nmangling Keep doing stuff on the Pecos! Well filmed and exciting.
Thanks bud. I appreciate it! 🤝

Awesome video brother! What time of year was this filmed?
@@aaronVarchery I think this one was filmed about a year ago almost exactly
@@nmangling Awesome! Great work my friend!
@aaronVarchery I appreciate it thank you!
These stocked trout? They stocked pecos all year long? I've never fished pecos river. Reminds me of the creeks up in western North Carolina.

Thanks for watching bud i appreciate you and your boy! The panther martins were working but worms under a bobber were the best way to go 👍
Yessir u were fished a good slow pool in the river from 7-6 caught fish all day long on worms and when we ran out caught on power bate no bobbers tho tried adding those they didn’t want to bite with them on
@wyattmcgill8 heck ya man! Sometimes bobbers work, sometimes they don't. Glad you caught though! 🤘🎣
Yessir keep the vids comin my man we love ‘em

I’m going to ribera nm next year and will fish the pecos river, you think its good up in ribera?
Fishing should be pretty decent. Water is probably a little warmer in that area so the bass and catfish might be more active than trout

Do you know any other good spots to fish that the waters have trout fish
Eagles Nest is one of my favorites. Always good fishing and good sized fish. Usually like to river fish more than lake fish though
Right on thanks for the info and the videos let's see how it goes for me lol 🎣
No problem. Thanks for watching and good luck! 🎣🤘
What size hook you using?
@@IsaiahJohnson505 usually size 8 or 10 snelled baitholders
@nmangling alright thanks I enjoyed the vid as well 👍
@IsaiahJohnson-cu5cm thank you I appreciate it ✊️
i live in pecos an now the water is brown
It has been raining a bunch lately so I'm assuming the rain made the water murky
If you're going to catch and release you should really smash those barbs down.. 👍
Ya I know. I will start doing that. Thanks for watching bud 👍
Rather rely on nm angling for the fishing report tbh
Haha that's awesome man thank you I appreciate that 💯
