Helpful distinctions. The silliest question a person who has a real library is asked is: "have you read all these books?". The fact is that a real scholar exists between aspiration and performance. The hope and expectation should produce both satisfaction and further hope. Life and reading are both journeys.

I filled my living space with books until it became unlivable.
I had to keep track of what I had on a database on my phone, so when I was out buying bags and bags of more books, I could minimize the duplicates.
It was planning to move that finally snapped me out of it. I bought a duplex scanner and have since cut up and scanned hundreds of titles. If I can't find a digital version online, I am making my own.
I donated many boxes to charity so far, and it feels great freeing up more and more space, and actually reading my digital replacements.
I am still, keeping a good reference shelf and a collection of favorites.
