Thank you for sharing this. I discovered last year, after experiencing unexplained abdominal pain, that I had Stage IIa colon cancer and had major abdominal surgery. I am just past the one year point and am prepping today for my follow up. This was helpful!
I didn't get "intolerable" as an emotion from the video at all. I thought it was tastefully presented because the amount of liquid required is a commitment regardless of whether using water or any other liquid. Well done young lady.
Thank you. I just lost Dad to cancer after caring for him by myself & I was recently diagnosed with MS which is a real drag. Having difficulty swallowing is no fun (I just realized there’s a joke in there somewhere) but anyway. I wanted to THANK YOU. I’m preparing for this procedure Oct 8/24 & I’ve been stressed out & tired so very tired these days which is making me (the guy that usually makes everyone else laugh) feel quite low. Very low actually. Hearing your experience e preparing made me laugh the hardest I ever have in a very long time. The bit about when you went to work out and you nearly sh*t your pants. That was beautiful. Pure poetry. I really lifted me & I felt like I needed to tell you - it meant more than you may ever know to have such a cleansing laugh, I haven’t been able to laugh very much these days & I hope you know I wasn’t laughing AT you but how you explained it & provided the footage. I hope the results were in your favour. Best wishes from Canada ~ Jeff
That tip about drinking something you DONT like is actually so good, I used a lemonade-type of drink, and for the next like 5 months afterwards I couldn't stand drinking lemonade
Plugging my nose while drinking helped so much. No gatorade used . I added abit of pale apple juice to my glassful each time. Solution not too cold...No problem with nausea.
hold on why blue ??? Colors you can use include clear, yellow, orange, or green. You cannot drink anything that is colored red, blue or purple. These colors can “stain” the inside of your colon and make it harder for the doctors to see any abnormalities.
You don't have to use Gatorade. You could have used water or any clear liquid. Gatorade replaces some of the electrolytes you will lose through the endless diarrhea, but your body would replace these within a few days anyway. This is by far the easiest colonoscopy prep there is, and you do viewers a bit of a disservice by carrying on like it is intolerable.
Agreed…. I have to do a gallon of Gavilyte G. Made it through the first half without puking. I have no clue how I’m going to make it through the second half. Wish I had this stuff instead.
@@splice9503 Is it too late for you to change? I have done both the Gavilyte and the Miralax/Gatorade and it is like night and day. The Miralax prep has no taste at all other than the Gatorade. I hope your test goes well.
@@Zephyrbell In my case the prep was divided into two doses: one the afternoon before and one the morning of the test. The one on the morning of the test was much easier than the one the day before. Some clinics/hospitals have different instructions. You will get through this just fine! It's the anticipation that makes it seem awful.
You can use WATER instead of GATORADE. That's what my Doctor told me. I did not have no problem with my Colonoscopy. I would just check with my Doctor next time. Hope this helps😀
My prep was easy. I started 2 days before going mostly liquid. 1 day before drank water and bone broth all day. Took 4 laxative pills as prescribed and 1/2 of miralax solution in water. It wasn't quite liquid but it wasn't quite a gel and it really didn't have a taste. Then drank 2nd 1/2 half 5 hours before my procedure. Got the highest clean score. 😂
It’s funny because this time I forgot all the rules… Woke up starving till I realized I was having the procedure the next day.. ran and prepped the drink and started drinking… Although I was oddly not hungry one bit this time I did sniff the food I cooked for my husband😂😂😂
*The prep didn't work for my mum. she didn't poop once. I'm getting a colonoscopy on the 8th of May and a camera down my throat. I'm dreading the prep. I might carry a bucket around with me just in case lol*
I feel sorry for you. I had to do the colonoscopy as well. It’s gonna be my first day doing it. I ain’t did the drink yet but I’m very excited cause I got three days to go before I take the drink. Oh boy this is gonna be fun. 😂
Not completely Informative. She did all of that the same day? She only dumps half of the bottle and not the whole bottle of MiraLAX like they tell you. Also, they tell you to put it in a 64OZ of liquid. I don't know it seems to me like she uses way more than 64 ounces of liquid. The pills, what is the name of the two stool softeners. Dulcolax or docusate sodium pills? They gave me two deferent ones.
Here's the best tip. Don't drink the foul liquid. Ask the gastroenterologist for the pills. They don't like to tell you about them for some reason. If they refuse, tell them you'll find a different doctor.
I was offered the pills but I didn’t realize how difficult the liquid was😂BEVER AGAIN AHAHAHA I WISH I HAD THE PILLS (I’m not in America so maybe that’s why they gave me two options)
Drinking that stuff really is the absolute worst of it and your #ss afterwards not the procedure. But when your recovering from bowel cancer like myself needs must. But really do hate it. 😢
They found colon cancer last year in my aunty when she went for a colonoscopy. There was so much cancer they couldn't even use the smallest camera. The sad this is when going through chemo she was in so much pain but her doctor said no to pain relief because of constipation. it was so infuriating. I hope you recover from your cancer. my thoughts are with you
@@Ladybug.706 yes 3 years in now in June. I'm ok still in some pain but still here and busting life as much as I can . Just have to watch what I eat .I have Lynch syndrome I found out from the genetics team
So it's 2 pitchers of the Gatorade? Or 1? I am probably going for my first colonoscopy soon at 36 due to 4 years of stomach pain, cramps and constant diarrhea.
Ok, so anyone reading this with an upcoming procedure I would like you to try this product from Shark Tank it's called "Miracle Berry". I just went through mine and saw the re run of the show after the exam..lol *edit* I posted this to see if I could help some people because the GoLYTELY is HORRENDOUS! Please give some feedback if it works.
Honestly, I am not looking forward to this. As a IBS person those things trigger ibs d flares. The last thing I need is secondhand embarrassment from pooping myself. The only good thing you get out of it is a nap while you're getting diddled. Could've at least paid me first.
During a colon prep, you need to keep your sugars up so you don't crash, otherwise I'd agree with you. Not sure how sherbert works though. Its not a clear liquid. 🤷🏼♀️ it has dairy in it and that's a no no for prep.

Blue powerade
