Before this video I thought that this channel was run by these Guinea pigs who had hired a human for effects.
Lol 😀😁😂
LOL!!THATS SO CRAZY!!
Literally every guinea pig owner ever
Yes
What!? Are you saying the guinea pigs are not actually in charge? How can this be?
I have been telling my mom “My piggy NEEDS a bigger cage” because he has a pet store cage. I finally convinced her and its coming soon! Im so excited!!
I have 9 piggies. My parents are refusing to get them a bigger cage😢
Makes sure you have 2 piggies + 😁
Yay! Imagine how many piggies are super happy right now because their humans learned how to take care of them properly from your videos ❤️
Her videos are the exact reason why my piggies have a good life.
@@caylee5502 Same here 😊
I know there are 2 happy ones at my house because of her!
@@caylee5502 Because of her, I built my two piggies a 12 square foot cage and they're much happier
Pam O I built a new cage after measuring mine and seeing it was too small. I made a diy cnc 3x4 cafe and plan on having 3 inside but only have one right now
That "natural" cage looks awesome, but I cant even imagine how hard it would be to take care of it. Anyway. It seems to me that quite a lot of cages are too narrow, arent they?
Micky You never really realise how large it actually is until you can possibly see a fully grown piggy in the cage and realise how tiny the piggy looks
I thought it had way to much stuff in it
I got two baby guinea pigs today and they've just been hiding all day, while talking to one another. It's so cute because occasionally i see one of their little heads sticking out! I only have them thanks to you, and if I hadn't found this channel I'd have no idea what to do. Thank you sooooo much for everything you have done!

Love how you were so constructive to the person with the small cage and plastic box. Hope that person, and anyone with the same kind of setup feels okay and hopefully inspired to get something more suitable. C&c cages are so easy to make and can be even cheaper than store-bought!
Thank you:) and judging from the size of the dresser the “cage” is on, I think a bigger c&c cage would fit on there easily!
I agree!
where do you get C&C cages
@@se8996 It depends where you're located. Some places sell 'c&c cages' and you can probably find them on Amazon or guineapigcages.com, but it's probably cheaper to buy the parts yourself.
8:40 "My guinea pigs would probably eat the entire thing" while nugget is already happily chewing on the camera xD.
It's so heartbreaking to see animals in way too small cages. And in many pet shops that's all they sell, and way overpriced too.
When I first got my 1st piggie pluto (I learned that his cage was way too small after less than a week n got a c&g and it is 9sq feet now) but the guy at the pet store told me that the guinea pig starter kit would be a good size. N I kinda questioned it n I got the bunny sized cage. It makes me upset still that the worker told me to get the extremely small lil cage n some person out there has that size cage for their guinea pig bc petco/petsmart employees dont know better
I wouldn’t recommend buying a pet from a pet shop because they can already be sick or have some problems.. Instead buy from a breeder because they are specialised in the pet. My grandparents bought a bird from a man who breeds birds and the bird is very old now and has always been very healthy, never a problem. This is just an experience and It may depend on the breeder, but I think thats better.
@@user-kc3mx3ju1f ya a few years ago me and my family bought a Chinchilla from pet smart and it died that night, really sad to watch an animal die from sickness, especially when pet shops are supposed to take care of them
I know right? I tried to explain to my friend how pet store cages are way to small and he just said “of course, nobody has room for that, why would they get anything bigger?” Bro that made me so angry
I never see anyone talking about how expensive those cages are!! I got mine with my guinea pig and it was $60, and a couple months later I got one double the size for the same price
Whoever has the natural looking cage: how does it work? Do the poops and hay biodegrade into the soil? What type of soil or mulch do you use?
I feel like I only see bad guinea pig cages so it's nice to see some great set ups from people who clearly look after their piggies :)
I have had my piggies for a year and a half and they have been to about 4 other homes (they're rescues), they used to run and hide every single.time I came into the room, now they are very vocal and comfortable with me, they don't really like me picking them up or letting them because they are so skittish but we are working on it. We have come so far, and your tips and videos have helped so much, I wanted to say thank you 💕💕💕.
That plastic box & tiny cage combo is awful 😱🤯 way too small
At first I thought they were storing stuff in that bin ... Then realized what was actually going down. Maybe they will see this video and reconsider😣
I have that cage but were getting a bigger one eventually
@@michellebowman3649 ....eventually? It's not even Humane
Nerfbastion I agree
@@nerfbastion9401 it can be hard to get new and better cages
After watching this video I feel like our cage isn’t big enough, we got it at Pets at Home when we got our guinea pigs ( Rico and Pedro ). We’ve had them for almost 3 years now and we never worried about their cage size. We open the cage everyday so they can run about on the carpet but we would love to make a bigger cage but we don’t have space for something like the cage you have ( which btw is amazing! ) I would love some advise!!!! I love your videos!!!
You could try ordering a c&c cage which you can assemble any way you want. Make the char double or even triple story. You can make each level the same size as your previous cage. I hope this helped!!
i think u should get a c&c cage - if u have 2 i recommend a 2x4 or a 2x5
We have a large dog crate for rabbit
I had to make the hay rack myself, the ones in stores here are too small for my hayfiends and I really like the design of your hay feeder and how easy your herd can get their hay. Also, thank you for having our pen on your video ♡
Would you share your plans for the hay rack, please? I want to make one myself. thanks!
I also need an improved rack. Mine right now is a simple. Tiny. Lil nothing. I'm not happy with it and feel like I'm filling it four times a day. Not good. Please share!
@@carrielynn5679
Of course, if you want a sketch or something let me know, but here's how I made it.
And sorry for being long winded, but I feel like they're important things to know.
The bottom is slightly larger than the top (I don't trust my boars not to try to push it over onto their brothers or pull it onto themselves, they do piddle on the wood though which can look bad, but I'd rather have piddled wood than flat boars). The base is a 12"x12" thin craftboard (you could have thicker wood if you want, I'm just very limited on my tools so thinner is easier to work with) and the top is 11"x11". The bars are 12" craft dowel rods, I used 1/4" diameter for the four corners for a bit of extra support and 1/8" for the feeding slats. I used 4 - 1/4" and 6 - 1/8" but left the back of mine open because I can get their large hay flakes in and any piggy that finds their way in the rack can easily get out or be retrieved, but if you don't want to come out to little bog monsters lurking in their hay rack as often you can add two more 1/8" for the back (I'll go over spacing I'd use for that, and remember if you end up with a piggy in the rack it might be harder to retrieve them.) I highly recommend measuring and marking both sides of your base and top, (I didn't because I was in a hurry trying to supply ample hay and it was a lot of guessing where to line up the dowel for the nail). On the base I recommend insetting the dowels 1 1/2" (I did 2" inches but this makes the distance between the middle of the slats 2 2/3" which is annoying to measure out.) Measure out the corners then along the line they make the center of each dowel 3" apart. Then I just used a small finishing nails through the base into the dowel, (just don't hit too hard at the end or you can make the nail go all the way through the base, also perhaps someone smarter than I will be able to figure out an easier way to hold it to put the nails in instead of placing the base ontop of the little stilt like dowels!). The top is measured in 1" from all sides (1 1/2" if you want the 2 2/3" spacing I had) and then 3" apart for each dowel. If you want to put a back on you'll have to judge for yourself how much room you need to be able to get hay in and out, or if you're really ambitious get slightly longer dowels and drill holes to slide the back bars in and out!
All edges and corners are sanded down so they're smooth and safe for little piggy footsies!
PIGGY SAFE WOODS:
Oak, cherry, apple, aspen, linden, poplar, basswood and fir.
I personally use poplar wood, but all of these are safe for our little chewers.
This size rack keeps 3 hayfiends in Hay for just over a day, you might need to adjust depending on your needs.
I think that's it, if I missed anything or you've got questions let me know. I know my directions can be a little confusing and I'm sorry for that, just don't know how to word it better. Good luck!!
Also sorry it took me a bit to reply!

Hello ive been watching for 8 months my guinea pig dexter and journey had 9 babies and had to get a major upgrade love you you inspire me
Julia can you feature my cage in the next video? I really need help if its suitable
KokiHamHam what kind of cage is it?
The third cage just broke my heart.. see, I have a guinea pig cage that is way too big for two guinea pigs, and I still feel like it's so small (not that guinea pig cages CAN be too big, but you know what I mean). I think I am such a freak about guinea pigs having a big cage. I wrote my dad a 5 page long essay to convince him to build my guinea pigs a bigger cage, though their other one would probably be okay. I just want my piggies to be happy, especially now that I can't spend as much time with them now that school has started. I'm sure plenty other Julia fans can relate to this. :)
Now you'll have plenty of time to spend with them!

I just got my guinea pigs today and they’re scared but settling in. These videos have helped me so much!
Ugh
i hate how some owners just give their guinea pigs some tiny crammed cages and don't bother cleaning them so the poor piggies have to cope with them but you are such a good owner, and you show everyone the proper way and you support them! you're like my favriote guinea pig owner that i know! (:
I was amazed on how you kept yourself so calm and chill when you saw those two very unacceptable cages, if I was the one filming the video I would have gone crazy and start yelling at the camera. You're seriously amazing.
At 8:07 when you said buddy and peanut! One of my guinea pigs named Peanut passed away 6 days after my birthday... 😔😖I don’t know if he was sick or not because he didn’t show any signs of sicknesses. Me too. But the 15 sq. Fter will do. They seem happy anyways😍

I have an outdoor hutch and an indoor cage, but because it’s winter my two pigs are inside. The cage indoors has two hiding areas built in at each end of the cage. One that’s wooden with a openable lid and one inside. The cage is big about 1.5 meters and my pigs LOVE it
I just love the polite tips instead of shaming
Why i am laughing when im looking at your Guinea Pigs and i have a rabbit and i watch Guinea Pigs whats wrong with me
Edit: They are sooo cute!
Stuart Cumings do you keep your rabbit with your guinea pigs? i have room to but i’m currently keeping them apart so do you think i should let the rabbit live with the guinea pigs?
@@ella4ever965 I wouldn't and the reason is is that rabbits are A LOT stronger than guinea pigs and one kick from a rabbit can cause serious harm and a rabbit does not replace another guinea pig so if you only have one rabbit and one guinea pig get another rabbit and another guinea pig and don't mix them (btw rabbits need a friend too)
@@ella4ever965 After his buddy died, I bought my 7-year-old guinea pig two bunnies to keep him company. While he was real grumpy in his old age, he had a history of being really friendly towards animals of other species. It really depends on the personality, most bunnies are friendly towards guinea pigs, especially when they are introduced young they will chill together. But warning- if you put them together you have to have a certain kind of pellets or it will make the piggie sick, but rabbits can eat every type of guinea pig pellet just fine.
TLDR? Yeah, you should, with the right kind of food, as long as they aren't aggessive towards each other.
10:50 Love how you handled it...I would have completely lost it 😢
No cause same the cage“s” are wayyy too small
I used to have 2 guinea pigs. We had a small cage for them, for the night, but in the day we’d let them roam through our whole garden. It was quite a small garden (big for them), and there were no predators around. We also had 2 cats, but the cats loved the guinepigs, and they loved the cats. It was so fun! Their nighttime cage was quite small, but during the day they’d just roam freely through our whole house/garden. It was all completely safe and the guineapigs were completely healthy. Now they’re both sadly gone, but I’ll never forget them.
I’ve been a fan for a long time! And I love how you help us with our piggy’s and our entertainment!
