Hey Hey Hey :) Great Video and Great Shots Mate :) I’m So glad you made this video, it’s such a great camera and very underrated for stills photography… Thank you for the shout-out… I’ll have to hit the streets more with my Gh5 and get the word out! Such a bargain right now and there are tonnes on the market :) Thanks again mate :)

The GH5 II is indeed superior, I even picked one up the same week the GH6 was launched, and never regretted it… Still have the original GH5 too, both are incredibly capable cameras for any situation…
    🤔

Yeah, refreshing the original GH5 with the GH5 ii was a good move by Panasonic.
      Thanks for watching 🖖

Nice intro. Sods Law with the AF test, but well done for being honest and showing it actually working well.

Yeah typically when you want to highlight something, it doesn’t happen lol
There was a little bit of that pulsing in the background but it was only really noticeable because I was looking for it in the edit.
I still love the thing even if it did make me look like an idiot 😂

And the GH5 mk II is even better than the original G9 !

I have a GH5ii and it's amazing for photos and videos...but my em1 mkiii has just amazing ibis!!! I love handheld slow shutter work at night without a tripod for photography...truly next level!!! Plus a bit smaller and lighter than my gh5

Yeah, a mate of mine has the OM1 and when I see him doing those crazy long exposures hand held I do get a bit jealous lol
      Thanks for watching 🖖

It is still very good, they still make a GH5S with streaming function is a testament to it's capability.
But I am itching for a GH6 since it can load LUTs internally, would be a killer function. But they left out the streaming capability of GH5S.
The G95 would be a better deal than GH5 today (or even a while ago) only downside is the slight crop in 4k - not a problem for me since I shoot 1080 most of the time as I couldn't deal with rendering hours.

The GH5 is still one of the best M43 hybrid camera. And yet I have the GH5 the GH6 and now the G9II.
The GH5 is certainly not the best to get the nicest output right out the box, pictures need much more post processing to be as nice as the GH6 or the G9II, the AF tracking in video is useless compared to the GH6 and even more compared to the G9II. It also lacks the 4K 120 fps and the new features like Lut in cameras or high resolution picture mode.
But for people who use the GH5 since a long time, the camera is just amazing. With a bit of work you can get pictures as nice than the GH6 and G9II. The AF in video is very good as long as you use 1 area with most Panasonic lenses, even better than the GH6 with this configuration because the AF stays accurate even when using low FPS. Like the G9II and GH6 you can use Open Gate 4:3, but you can also record Open Gate 3:2 and crop to 5K. Also, the IBIS is more or less as good as the GH6, sure the G9II has better IBIS but it has another issues.
And the most important, resolution in video is very good, the GH5 will produces more noise and more moiré than the GH6 and G9II, but there is no hidden noise reduction, the details keep intact. I can't say the 4K 120fps of the GH6 and G9II looks good, fine details are smoothed out when your subect is a bit too far from the camera.
Only the GH6 in Prores 5,7K mode is as good to retains the best details, but nothing is magic and the noise is at least as high as on the GH5.
If you know how to bypass the limitations of the camera, the GH5 and GH6 stay the best.
Panasonic is now in a trend where it search to simplify most things about cameras, making them easier to use, with impressive new features and nicer looking result out of the box. But in a controlled environment, the GH5 and GH6 (in 5,7K) still get the best quality compared to the G9II, exactly like the S5 and S1 have still the best video quality compared to the S5II.
I'd say the G9II biggest improvement is the DR BOOST at low ISO, making the pictures cleaner when recovering shadows.

I got one 🎉🎉🎉 and mmm the GH4 and the s5, I prefer the size and handle of the GH4, but the Gh5 is my general favoryte 😅 the S5 image is bufffff great, but I feel strage , and change settings by mistake 😅

You got a lot of great 20mpx options including the em1 mkii and G9. I guess it all depends on what features you need the most. Thanks for watching🖖

Hmm.. I dont know.. Name the different models MFT whatever but you will never get this depth of field or color you get from older DSLR monsters. Right? What if you compare it with your 40d.. Even if Canon is formerly not known as superb in dynamic range. Is it only me thinking that?

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  5 месяцев назад

If you’re asking can the gh5 compare with older dslrs, the answer is yes, absolutely. The shallow depth of field thing makes no sense as for a lot of types of photography you want more depth, landscapes, street, macro etc. all are best shot with smaller apertures, not to mention most lenses are sharpest stopped down. As for dynamic range, the gh5 blows cameras like the 40d away completely, same with colour. I love the older cameras, but there’s no getting away from the fact that technology has moved on and the gh5 is a good example of that.
      Thanks for watching 🖖

That's what I call a statement. Thank you. So I accept that you can compare it better.
