Dieticians usually recommend daily calorie intake based on BMI etc. It is more said than done. It's better dieticians first work the total calories the person is used to take before dieting. Now recommended 25 % cut. If one is taking 10 chapattis recommend 7.5 chapattis .If one is taking 1 chapatti then recommend 3/4 chapatti. Fill stomach first with a glass of water and salads and after you feel full go for the main course
Morning walk is definitely better than treadmill, because you also get advantages of fresh air and oxygen, where as in a closed room where the treadmill is there, those advantages are not there. Besides in the long run, walking on the ground is better.
There is no special diet for PCOD, but if you cut down the carbohydrates and the total calories and avoid junk food, and exercise regularly. In the process reduce weight, there can be considerable improvement in PCOD. If you wish to consult me, please write to contact@drmohans.com

With exercise alone, it will be very difficult to reduce and sustain body weight. Calorie restriction is definitely needed. A combination of calorie restriction and exercise is the best.

@Dr V Mohan Sir, will walking in the morning ( in a fasted state) and walking in the evening (probably 3-4 hrs after lunch) have the same effect on the fat loss?
Basically, there won’t be too much of a difference, between walking in the morning and in the evening. However, in the morning the air is fresh, but otherwise, there are no studies to suggest that one is better than the other.

Post 30 mins how much ever we walk the body burns the fat accordingly. Is that true? Then we must target for a 45 mins walk atleast right? Please let us know your thoughts on it.
I wish you had talked also about controlling blood glucose levels and also about intermittent fasting. If blood sugar is out of whack, it is going to be impossible to lose weight. Has your institute done any controlled study on effect of pranayama to reduce cholesterol or blood glucose? Mine was at best an unscientific one but I once reduced my ldl from 129 to 69 mgdL with an hour's pranayama daily for three months.
@@drvmohan And is your institute still holding to the analysis you did some 20-30 years ago of 6000 patients which found that if total cholesterol crosses 130 mgdL among south Indians, there was onset of cardiac problems? Any update on the finding?

Pranayama is excellent and everyone should do it. Very good effect on BP. Sugar effect is more in those who have stress induced diabetes.
