This is probably the best MK1 character guide I've ever seen in my life! Especially the parts with cancells, invisible safe jump setups, and Sector setups, this is very important and useful for all Smoke-players to know. I hope for another video about more Sector setups! One thing to note, If you have a duel sense edge, you can change your dead zone of the triggers(if you kept R2 for blocking) I went and changed mine from 0 to 1 for both L2 and R2. It pretty much reduces the travel time of the move registering. This definitely helped me with consistency. I typically play hitbox for fg but because this game has a block button I can't play around the block button on it so having the edge is pretty clutch and necessary for this game and if you want you can move the R2 to one of the paddle buttons. But that's a whole nother muscle memory to get used to.

The EX (Air)B,F,3 now acts as a restand into a potential vortex, much like MKX. Super cool aspect that I think gives him a bit more extra sauce than just going invisibile. Not quite a win condition as he still has reactable mixes, but you can do things like his D3 to set up that jail out of it, or do the grab.
even tho i know how to play smoke the invis set ups,invis safe jump,invis pressure neutral really helped me because i didnt know that. thanks for doing this and made some people better at smoke. #buffsmoke

Great guide G, like your take on the cancel timing, personally I input my bf3 quickly but I spent alot of time labbing every cancel, I play medium input timing, I know short is best for consistent cancels but I prefer medium

That’s definitely the optimal but is too risky to be his consistent AA combo. That’s why we go for s1 into f12 just for consistency. Combo is fire tho🔥
Another thing i’d like to point out that wasnt in the video. In the evo patch ex Bf3 cancel cancels 5 frames which means it will give him more plus frames depending on the string he cancels , best one is 212 which is plus 5 , hope that helps
I’ve played smoke since day 1 of this game n hve been godly with his cancels. But ever since his recent “buff” I find doing his back 2 cancel like almost impossible at this point. Idk if they’ve changed the timing of the cancel or what but I’ve found myself looking going to YT to help me 😭 cuz just being punished every time I mess of his overhead cancel has been driving me insane. Well that’s my story, excuse me venting here
The new buffs are almost useless against good players. If they made it faster and a overhead it would be a better mindgame. His reg overhead should have been sped up a tiny as well at 28 frames imo.

Cant do forward 3, teleport cancel into 1,1, teleport cancel. The second teleport always connects even after using your technique of wait till the last hit before inputting teleport immediate cancel 😢
